Moving has always been a really traumatic thing for me. I love my home, almost like a person, and I get really attached. During the course of a move I normally break down several times, cry, and maybe even get angry. I've lost count of how many addresses I've had, but this time I moved from the 22nd floor of a tower building overlooking Lake Erie to the 2nd floor of a duplex.
Hiring a mover helped me to avoid so much of that trauma.
John was really great. He came over early, and took everything out to the hallway in my 22-story building. Everything got loaded into the trailer much more quickly than I'd expected. When we headed over to the new place, that's when the "fun" began.
When my bed didn't fit through the doorway, John calmly took the door off the hinges. When it still didn't fit through, he took it apart. Then he reassembled it in my bedroom. When my couch didn't fit up either staircase, he hoisted it up over my 2nd floor balcony with a rope.
He went so much above the call of duty, it really was amazing. I don't know how many times I would have broken down without his help - and I think my couch would still be on the front porch or in the garage. I hope he knows how much I appreciated him. Thanks John!
