We were moving from A to B, and a friend had recommended uShip to us. The bidding process went smoothly, we got the price we wanted and (a promise) of the service we wanted. So far so good.
But then, things started going south. I tried in vain to get in touch with our service provider. Emails and voice mails went unanswered. For three weeks. Disheartened by this development, I decided to keep a plan B in place, a regular van line. Two weeks before the scheduled move, I went on a week long vacation. When I returned, I found an email message from my mover, who had been on an unscheduled vacation the last couple of weeks.
From then on, we corresponded by email only. His phone was not working, but he did not know this. I just assumed he was bad with cell phones. I did not mind since the email channel was still on.
On the day of the move too, I was not able to reach him on the cell phone. That was the day he realized that his phone was broken. He had previously mentioned that he would be out on another move that day, but I decided to monitor the my email nonetheless. He kept sending us regular updates whenever he could find a computer with an internet connection. We finally met in the evening, loaded all the stuff, and started driving. Both of us reached B the next morning (he got there a couple of hours after me). The unloading went smoothly as well.
I doubt if there are many other moves that were performed without a single phone conversation. That should make this a very cool move.
I will definitely look on uShip when I need to move again.
