Shipping items like motorcycles and ATVs can be tough - they're too big for most of the companies we're familiar with (UPS, DHL, etc.), but not quite large enough to charter a semi... Furthermore, they usually need to be delivered to someone's residence, where it can be impossible to unload the average freight truck. That's where smaller, more personal shippers like Delany Motorsports come into play.
We're one of the largest medium-duty truck dealers in the country - as you can imagine, we deal with a multitude of vendors and shippers on a daily basis. We recently had a 2004 Yamaha Road Star we needed to ship to a long-time customer in Idaho - we're not a motorcycle dealer by any stretch of the imagination, so we were running into some real difficulty figuring out how to get it there. Conventional channels were just too expensive - $1,000+ is a little out of the question to have a bike shipped from Denver to Boise. We decided to try uShip, and after our first experience, we think it's safe to say we've figured out how we'll doing our non-conventional shipping in the future.
Almost immediately after posting our listing, we received a number of responses. All of those who "bid" on our shipment had great offers, but one stood out - Delany Motorsports came through with a very competitive bid, with a few other essentials - excellent insurance coverage (at no additional charge), curbside pickup and delivery, great references, as well as US DOT and MC registration - something that should be mandatory for transporters. The communication back and forth was excellent, we agreed on a price, and set a date for pickup.
The bike arrived at our customers address ahead of schedule, with no issues whatsoever; everything went exactly as planned. We could not be more satisfied with the service that we received - Sean and Candace Delany were an absolute pleasure to work with. Thanks to both Delany Motorsports and uShip for helping us get this deal done!
