With great trepidation, we listed our prized family heirloom, an antique John Deere tractor on Uship. Immediately, we got 5 bids. The ratings and feedback comments helped us to choose the most qualified provider, though not the cheapest. After reading the credentials, we opted for L3 Enterprises whose price was only 200 more than the least qualified hauler.
Though the tractor was loaded a week earlier than we had asked, the driver, Donald of S & N Trucking worked with us to schedule the delivery at a mutually acceptable time. His professionalism was evident as he unloaded the tractor which had arrived in excellent condition. Clearly, he cared about the job and our tractor!
Some suggestions for improvement are minor, but may help those of us who have NEVER shipped anything in our lives:
1.) Thoroughly explain the process and how payments are made. L3 Enterprises required a wire transfer from my bank. This added 24.00 to our costs, but that is okay. We weren't expecting this additional cost, that's all.
2.) Brokers: Realize you may be servicing customers who know nothing about the shipping industry. EDUCATE us and assume we know nothing. EXPLAIN everything and be patient if we ask stupid questions. Some of us are very detailed people and just want to know the ropes.
3.) Shippers: Be exact about your dates you want your shipment loaded/delivered. I wasn't precise, so our shipment came a week earlier than expected. I needed to be more specific.
In the end I would definitely use Uship again, I would recommend our broker and most importantly, I would recommend our hauler. He made this transaction the BEST. Thanks, Donald, thanks L3 Enterprises, and thanks, Uship!
