40 years ago, I was 14 and took a liking to a little China Hutch made of oak and glass in a warehouse. It cost $25 and has been moved a few times, broken a few and became a hazard. My father was cut by it when he fell when cancer broke his spinal cord, 20 years ago. My elderly mother has been having trouble getting around it with her walker. So, after discussions for several years, I decided to get a U-Haul and do the deed. But, it was 1 inch too tall for the trailers. Trucks would have been at least $250 plus gas. Regular shippers (Google searched) began at $400. I never heard of Uship before the Google, and simply put out a bid that I thought was between low and ridiculous. The first offer was in line with other offers from Internet and telephone. Tommy Clark with FurnitureMan accepted the offer. I was sort of apprehensive, but in it for the ride. We had a few last minute communication glitches - on my end. He was not getting to my mother's home until after 9PM, but she was game to do whatever to get rid of it. He was stuck in Easter traffic, and surprise snow fall. About Midnight, Mom called that they were on the way. Noon on Saturday (12 hours later), up comes the van and trailer loaded with my stuff and few other orders. He also delivered a 6-pack of Cheerwine as well as some of our own blankets left to help cushion it. We trucked it into the dining room. He showed me a panel needing repair, that I know was an old problem. Everything is fixed, cleaned up and my wife is loading the crystal in it, UShip is the best thing since the heyday of Priceline. FurnitureMan (Tommy Clark) is a great hauler.
