We finally had to break down and ship our favorite mare, Ruby, to Texas to try and get her in foal, to Miss N Cash, at Joe Landers Inc. First of all some back ground, Ruby, is a 14 year old mare that was bred and raised by my family. We owned her mother, Docs Ricky "Kim" for 23 years before we had to put her down because of cancer. Ruby is the last mare we own out of her mother & there have been many people over the years that have tried to buy her. Ruby may not be an NCHA Futurity winner but she's a great horse to us. She always wins a check in reined cowhorse bridle events, you can rope on her or you can put a three year old toddler on her & they can ride her completely by themselves. So after months of trying to find someone locally to send her down to Texas with I broke down and posted a shipment on UShip. I was scared to death. I was scared that my horse might get stolen or hurt & that I might never see her again. I posted my shipping needs any way & got a number of very acceptable bids. I chose to go with Jeff Glisson Equine Transport(movinghorses) partly because his was one of the first bids near my price range but also because he indicated to me through the Q&A that he was familiar with the Landers breeding farm & had picked up & dropped off horses there before.
I was really thrilled after I accepted his bid to find out that not only did he have an MSN email address but that he also uses MSN Instant Messenger. I really liked that when ever he was online before & after he picked Ruby up that he would shoot me an instant message. I realize most people prefer communicating over the phone but for me instant messaging is the way to go and it is so efficient. Much of Jeff's trip was up in the northwest where there are a lot of areas that do not have cell phone reception but I was always able to get a hold of Jeff or he returned my calls within 20 minutes. So communications was just great all the time. Amy Scott, looking forward to UShipping again!
