I was looking for a Ducati 748 online (cycletrader, ebay, etc.) from other parts of the country as where I live there $2000.00 to $4000.00 more than elsewhere. I found one I was interested in on an online auction and made a listing on uShip. I received some very reasonable estimates for shipping, but because the person that had the bike never got back to me with payment details, I never bid on the bike.
As luck would have it, the bike didn't sell and went back up for auction. This time I was able to get the information I needed and bought the bike.
Putting up another uShip listing, I received both reasonable and outrageous estimates for shipping my bike. A few of the shippers were a bit curt and even seemed annoyed to answer questions I asked about their estimate. Others were very polite and helpful.
I ended up accepting an estimate by Roger Swift and couldn't be happier with the service I received. Prompt and professional. He kept me updated as to his location, expected ETA, and even arrived 30 minutes ahead of schedule.
I've had items shipped all across the U.S., but this is the first time I've used uShip. Roger Swift and the system uShip has in place made it a trouble free transaction.
In fact, as it turned out, the gentleman I bought the bike from lives only a short distance from Roger. Roger not knowing the seller was a bike dealer and the bike dealer not knowing Roger was there. The dealer was quite happy with Roger's professionalism and will most likely be using his services int he future as well.
