I am delighted by the world that uship.com has opened up for me. I impulsively bought a cute little purple Suzuki DR200 enduro motorcycle (OK, mini-motorcycle) on eBay, and decided I'd "figure out shipping in the unlikely event that I win." Well, early last Sunday morning, I won the auction -- and suddenly my new motorcycle was many hundred miles away. I called the big national shippers, and after much time invested getting quotes from them, I learned that they all wanted about $600 to bring it to a location near me and they wanted several weeks to do it.
Discouraged, I googled for more shipping possibilities, and I stumbled across uship.com. With somewhat low expectations, I placed my shipping request ad and waited for responses.
I got three replies quickly, and within a couple of hours, sealed a deal with one of them that had great feedback (Freedom Bike & Trike) to do a pickup the very next morning for door-to-door delivery for $300, and they said they could have the bike at my front door on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
Freedom Bike & Trike picked up at the seller's house early the following morning as promised, and the seller wrote me to say how great they were. Freedom also sent me an email from the road letting me know that the pickup was successful, then they called on Tuesday to let me know they would make it to my house that evening, then called to tell me when they were in town. By Tuesday evening at 6, after a bit of friendly chat with Matthew and Zan (my awesome shipping team), I was happily test-driving my new toy up and down my street. Everything was shockingly perfect. It happened so quickly, so easily, so conveniently, and I saved money.
Yay for uship.com, and yay for Freedom Bike & Trike!
