Getting Great Auto Shipping Quotes: The Bidding Process Explained

Our site is designed to take away some of that confusion by highlighting our Transportation Service Provider (TSP)’s qualifications and recommendations to allow you to know who is shipping your vehicle.  We do this by having TSPs post profiles outlining their service, qualifications, and most importantly: feedback. TSPs make their living off our site by being the best and providing great service.  To do this, they need to have all the information about your shipment that they can get.  It is important that you describe, as accurately as you can, the dates, details, and description of your shipment.  We can’t stress enough that you give as much information as you can.  If your shipment is an auction, let the transporters know the hours and if the pick-up can be done after hours or on a weekend.  Full disclosure is the phrase of the day here.  Most transporters can make do if the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer and are willing to help you out, but they have to know in advance in order to be properly prepared.  

Pricing:

There are several types of ways to price your vehicle shipment it all depends on how much time you have to receive bids or how choosy you are on how your vehicle is shipped. With Name Your Price you can eliminate the bid process by listing the price you want to pay and only the top providers have access to automatically accept your price. Name Your Price is perfect if you are in a bit of a time crunch.  TSPs that like your price can book your shipment and you can get you car on the road quickly.  By setting your budget with the Max and Target controls you are telling the Transporters the range of prices you’re looking for.  Remember, you can always change these Target Prices depending on the bids you are receiving.

Receiving Bids:

You will get several bids automatically from some of our best TSPs.  These bids are ready to go and you should definitely check out the profiles if you are looking to move quickly.  More bids will filter in within the next 12-24 hours as Transporters log on to uShip for loads.  TSPs will post questions on your shipment’s page about the details of your shipment; remember that it is in your best interest to answer these quickly.  If a Transporter has a truck going through your area and has a question, by answering it and booking the load you could save serious money.

Booking:

Once you have looked through all your bids, read all the feedback from the TSPs, answered all the questions, and found the TSP you feel comfortable with, accept the bid you like and start the booking process!  Go to your shipment page and click the button by their name to confirm their booking.  At this point you will be prompted to review the details of your shipment and their bid.  If applicable, you will be prompted for a nominal service charge and a deposit with details on how to pay (PayPal, all major cards).   Once payment is confirmed you will get an email with all the contact information for the TSP. Go ahead and send them an email, something about how you look forward to working with them and confirm your details.  

Each company has their own protocol, but most will be getting in contact with you in a few hours.  Some of these guys are on the road, so give them some time.  As soon as you book you should receive all their contract information, terms and conditions, as well as instruction for the next steps.
