Collection and or Delivery Services: “Dedicated Delivery” services are not the same as BULK CARIER services. The latter is offered with *** or *** and will include multiple loading and unloading and other movements between collection and delivery, best suited to low value, non fragile, non liquids, smaller items of a uniform shape collected and delivered in working hours in a working week. They are unlikely to be insured inclusive. We offer a special insurance cover being £2.54 per £100.00 of shipped value (£75.00 Excess). We collect and or deliver at anytime of day or night, including bank-holidays & weekends. We require a reasonable amount of time for collection to ensure a successful delivery; proof of delivery & collection can be “hard copy” (signature, time and date), a phone call or electronic (tracking) and or text. We require the recipient to be notified by you of your consignment being collected. We will need the name of the recipient at collection and delivery along with a full and valid drivable postal address that has a postcode. It is essential a contact number (mobile/office or both) be provided for UK and overseas services. Our services are normally door-to-door. We are willing to carry items inside or from and within premises. However, we are not insured to do this; courier services are by their nature “Haulage Taxi’s” and different to home or office removal businesses. Our insurances in place just cover the transport of goods not loading or unloading or the packing of your goods.
European Collections & Deliveries: These relate to within EUROPE or from EUROPE or into the EU. They are more expensive per mile due to charges imposed related to fuel surcharges, ferry or Tunnel operators and € v £ fluctuations. There are inter-border taxes and road tolls when travelling through & between countries as well as those that are non-EU. There are bridge tolls and road freight charges, being substantially higher than for cars. We reserve the right to impose a min fee for those destinations that in time or mileage incur us in addition costs. These destinations are confirmed at the time of our quote. Additional charges of £0.25 per kilo and “waiting” or “loading” time penalty of £5.00 per 15 minutes is chargeable to the consignment owner on special consignments (call for details). Deliveries & Collections throughout mainland Britain are charged per loaded mile, not normally by volume or weight (for EU as standard) unless stated otherwise. Tolls/ congestion charges are normally included within the agreed quote issued. However, London and other large cities in the UK and EU are treated differently when compiling a quote; this is due to the time it takes to complete deliveries. Pence p/m charges shown are pence per-mile travelled and relate to lowest volume, least weight and being non-time sensitive. ^Distances are calculated using Satnav route or mapping software, rounded up to the nearest 5 miles. Your consignment must be well packed and any protruding components or raised or exposed areas need addition padding and or covering and need to be ready at the agreed time and date. If you require us to do this for you we are happy to provide this service (wrapping) and can be included in your quote. If travelling with your consignment or not, your consignment is insured under the terms of The Convention on the Contract of the International Carriage of Goods by Road. It is worth pointing out that this is often calculated on a complicated weight calculation not necessarily based on the goods retail value. We encourage you to seek your own cover called “Sending’s Policy”. Why? The majority of our work is completed on a compromise, subsidised by other goods “piggy-backed” within the same schedule, thus saving the sender significant costs associated with a “dedicated service”. We are unable to accept all insured risks inclusive of subsidised fees; the risk is not offset by the service fees paid. One or more consignments might well be transported at a loss, as the margins are very low.
Security & Technical Information:
Due to wild currency swings and continuing unstable fuel prices, along with ferry company fuel surcharges which change weekly. A “Fuel/currency levy/surcharge” will be charged at 6% on all invoiced values issued from midnight 01/01/2013 unless you’re booked on a specific date and your invoice is paid in advance. We hold GIT insurance (Goods in Transit) and PL insurance (Public Liability) insurance, the basics of which has been explained above. Our vehicles enjoy five years protected no claims comprehensive insurance, depending on which vehicle is used, central-locks are fitted and we can offer CCTV external monitoring. Clients are offered on-line tracking of our vehicle (live) at no cost. A special high-rated Mercedes vehicle, capable of transporting 3720kg’s of goods is available, this offers the potential to transport up to 26m³ of goods. Your driver will stay with your valued items at all times, even overnight, unless agreed otherwise. Road conditions, ferry crossings, the weather, along with industrial disputes, are all at best unpredictable and out of our control; delays can and will happen. However, if our company has provided a written quote (email) offering a Guaranteed “time sensitive” Express delivery of one or more consignments to a valid drivable location, date & time confirmed and fail, through our own negligence, you will only be charged a handling fee of £12.00 with a 30% reduction of the agreed net, pence per-mile rate.
Payments for our services: Due in part to abnormal market conditions and the increase in BAD DEBT, you might be asked to pay a booking fee “deposit” (non-refundable). In all cases, invoices need settlement within 5 working days by direct payment or by cheque or cash based on day of collection/delivery (with receipt if needed); BAC’s/CASH. Payments made that are VAT chargeable are to HSBC, ask for details. Private client services are to the nearest Britannia Building Society offering Co-operative BANK deposit services. It is crucial for you to confirm your agreement to our quote (as against and “estimate”) within the time frame requested, or we will have to re-quote and add a Currency and Fuel Surcharges stated of at least 6%.
