What would be the insured value? Be prepared to have proof of valuation such as purchase invoice, appraisal that would document the insured value to be declared.
Regarding packing- it would be cheaper if you could find a local packer in your area directly.

Response: The size and weight I gave was unpacked. If I pack it, it will measure approximately 74 x 54 x 6. The weight shouldn't be more than 40 lbs packed in cardboard and ridgid foam insulation. I was paid $10,000 for it, but was thinking of insuring it for $5000. Does this have ramifications for customs? (11/20/2009)
