Question: If a Carrier goes NOT have an MC (Motor Carrier) number, then they have NO Insurance on your shipment either! Have to have Ins proof before the Government will issue an MC number. If you have NO MC #, you are illegally operating!!!!! In most cases the carrier has to have a DOT number as well because of the weight of the vehicle that they are operating!! Advise to you the shipper. DO NOT USE THEM!
Use FEEDBACK on U-Ship and http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov to verify a carrier’s credentials. You can find out about their Ins coverage, operating authority, accident history etc just by simply doing a Carrier search under the Licensing & Registration section
