Response: Dear Sir, I did not understand that you meant sailing it around. The boat needs to be restored. So I wouldn't take the chance to sail even to Oxnard from Ventura. Question: WE should have your rate within the next couple of days. If you have already agreed on a rate please let me know. I have a question on the cradle. Is this a new boat coming from a manufacturer? If so they might be able to offer you a good price on a cradle as for there are not too many inland/ocean transporters that will ship on a cradle that is not approved due to the liability of possible damage due to poor cradle construction. I am sure our rate will be very competitive and handled very professionally. We have shipped many large boats and it is a process that takes dedication and support from the shipper. Response: Dear Sir, The boat is a used Sparkman & Stephens 48 from 1974. It requires a transport cradle. Prefered departing dates between 18 - 22 sept. The boat will be prepared by the yard at pick up point. Arrival in Gothenburg mid to end of October prefered. Rate now is under 24.000 USD. Thank you on before hand Sincerely Jan Palmers (9/8/2008)
Response: We have been looking into shipping your boat out of the east coast and out of the west coast as well. The east coast is not an option just because the inland rate would be nearly $20,000. We are still waiting for our rate coming from the west coast but for a boat this size to be transported as a LO/LO shipment you are looking at more than $24,000 to practically ship it completely around the world. The west coast is already generally more expensive to ship out of and if the boat was shipping out of the east coast port to port you would be looking at rates like the ones you have already been provided with.
