Additional Information:
The vendor has requested that the driver call and schedule drop off ahead of time to ensure that there is someone in the office. While the office isn't always staffed during regular business hours (9 - 5), they will make sure that someone is availabe to the driver for at least a four hour window around the scheduled drop off time. The business is located on the near north side of Chicago and is easily accessible from the interstate.
Questions for this shipment:
Question:
Hello, How soon before this is ready to ship? Thanks, IRRL Randy (10/22/2009)
Response:
Today! (10/22/2009)
Response:
Hello, I'll be through there at the end of this week. Is the destination on a first floor or underground dock way down town? Thanks, IRRL Randy (10/25/2009)
Response:
The vendor said they are located on the near north side of Chicago and that they are easily accessible from the interstate. I have resubmitted the part of the question about the loading dock to them. Thank you - Lisa (10/27/2009)
Response:
Hello, I was just through there on Saturday. I'll be back through again next week if it can wait. Thanks, IRRL Randy (10/27/2009)
Response:
No problem! Thanks, Lisa (10/28/2009)
Response:
Hello, It looks like I can pick this up on Tuesday if that will work for you. Thanks, IRRL Randy (10/29/2009)
Question:
would there be help to load and unload (10/22/2009)
Response:
There would be help loading. The items are going back to the business I purchased them from. So while I would assume they would have employees available in their warehouse to help unload, I can't say for sure. FYI - As furniture goes, these pieces are pretty light. (10/22/2009)
Question:
I am driving East towards Chicago. What are the hours of receiving for the business? I jsut do not want to loose a day waiting. Does the furniture needs to be wrap in blankets? (10/23/2009)
Response:
They list their office hours as 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The items are currently wrapped in the cardboard they were delivered in and that will be sufficient. Thanks! (10/23/2009)
Response:
I am in Sioux FAlls SD and I was planning to take I-29 Sount and take I-80. Are you telling me that there will be someone thre between 9 to 5 p.m.? Can you confirm that they are only going to be gone an hours for lunch or something of that nature between 9 to 5 p.m.? I could pick up tomorrow and deliver the next morning. Please let me know and I will place a bid. Thanks. (10/23/2009)
Response:
In his original email, the vendor said that the shipper needs to call and schedule drop off to make sure there is someone in the office. So while it is reasonable to think there would generally be someone there with the exception of lunch or something of that nature, unfortunately I really can't guarantee it... (10/24/2009)
Response:
I got the impression that you are not in good terms with the vendor and can afford to be in the situation where I am unable to deliver because the vendor "is not around" to get back at you. I am not in the business of storing furniture in my truck and I am not here to fight your battles either. Once I bid and you accept it will be my problem which I don't think is fair to us providers. Best of luck. (10/24/2009)
Response:
Wow. I don't have a battle to fight. I don't care for the items and so I am returning them. They are still in the original packing and I have 55 days left of the 60 days allowed to return the merchandise. I was just trying to be as honest as possible and share the information with you that the vendor gave me. While the vendor does list office hours, they specifically requested that the driver schedule a drop off time. I thought this might be an issue for you since you wanted to deliver the items tomorrow and would not be able to call ahead. (10/24/2009)
Response:
In this business carrier expect to have a place open during business hours or the recipient to have made arrangements with a neighbor to receive the items. If delivering to a home many times the person is at work during the day but lives near by. You are leaving the responsability to the driver who has a schedule to meet and can not wait around over an hour. It would be helpful for other providers to know if the "calling ahead means that the business is able to open other that 9 to 5 since going into Chicago is really slow or if the reciber may not be around. Once a bid is accepted it is too late to learn that the delviery is going to be dificult. I been there done that. I don,t think for a minute that you are dishonest, just unaware of the business and the cost to us of truck and drivng time. Someone who lives near would be a good choice. YOu have a reasonable bid specially if delivery becomes a problem. (10/25/2009)
Question:
hello. i've read all the questions and answers and understand the situation. i need info on size. i get that the couch is L shaped. how big is / are the boxed pieces? i hope its not really one bos 9 feet by 6 feet. thanks, joe (10/28/2009)
Response:
I'm sorry - I used the measurements provided by the manufacturer on the website. I should have just measured them to begin with! The three items are packaged separately. The rough dimensions are as follows: Couch piece 1: 80" L x 42" W x 28" H Couch piece 2: 72" L x 38" W x 38" W Ottoman: 41" L x 31" W x 16" H Thanks, Lisa (10/28/2009)
Response:
