Question: Could this be driven to you? (9/24/2009)

Response: If you would like to give me a price I will consider it.I would rather have it trucked but depending on the price difference I may want to.
Thanks (9/24/2009)

Response: The problem with hauling these is the height. You would have to have a trailer deck height of no more than 24". That would require a drop deck or lowboy trailer at $2-$2.50 per mile. I have a wedge trailer but can't haul it far enough back to keep it under height. Thanks, Paul (9/26/2009)

Question: Hello - I'm interested in DRIVING your Four Winds to Brewster, NY, for you. Do you have a preferred pick-up or delivery date in mind? Time in transit would be four days, weather and road conditions permitting. Your RV would need to be insured and licensed (or temp tagged). Please review my perfect feedback; 100%~no negatives, neutrals, or cancellations in over four years and eighty plus matches, with over a dozen of these being from motorhome deliveries. I'm rarely the least (or most) expensive option you will have, but I'm safe, reliable, reasonable and fair, and I'll treat your RV like gold. Please ask any questions you may have and let me know if you would like me to submit a competitive quote. Length and engine make and size would be helpful. Thank you for your time and consideration. ~Jim Henderson (9/24/2009)

Response: I am waiting for the release. I think it may be ready Monday. I have dealer plates but I could not let you use them due to insurance. Do you know what the AZ temp law is? It is a 26' and it's a gas 10 cylinder. There is only 10,000 miles on it so I would rather ship it but if you want to give me price I will consider it. Thanks (9/24/2009)

Response: Hi - Thanks for the prompt response. I apologize for taking so long to answer; I'm on the road with another delivery and my computer is having issues. I'm not an expert on AZ registration laws, but I think if you're buying from a dealer, he can supply you with a 30-Day General Use registration, that costs $15. If you're not buying from a dealer, the same permit is available through the AZ MVD or Third Party office, same fee; need out-of-state ID and Dealer Invoice or Assigned Title. You would still need to provide insurance. I hope this won't be a problem, and that we can still do business, if the price is right for you. I'll work up a quote and get back to you soon. Thanks, ~Jim (9/25/2009)

Response: Jim,
After reading your feedback I am willing to send you my dealer plate. This will cover the registration and insurance. The RV has 10,000 miles on it and should be in new condition. The photos I have show no dents and you should have no problems. It is located at the Manheim Auction and I will have to make arrangements for you to pick it up. We could be ready on Tuesday. Are you available immediately? Would you plan to fly back? We are located about 60 miles north of NYC and could meet you in New Jersey so you could get a flight out of Newark or JFK.Newark would be the most convient for drop off. Please send a formal bid and let me know how quickly you can get started.
Thanks
Steve (9/27/2009)

Response: Hi Steve, Thanks for the confidence in me; I realize the responsibility involved. Unfortunately, I'm now busy. I leave Tuesday for FL to pick up another motorhome and take it to Idaho. When I return from that, I have a job with a regular customer that, possibly, could take close to two weeks. There's a possibility that there might be a break in that schedule, but no guarantees. The soonest I could guarantee getting to yours would be about 10/20, and I'm reasonably sure you don't want to wait that long, if you asked me if I was ready immediately. I hate turning away work, and I'd really like to do this for you, but the main objective of my business is to exceed my customers expectations. With that in mind, even though you're yet to be an official customer, I'm going to recommend that you use Judy Swan (letmedrive4you), who recently placed a bid below. Judy and I began using uShip about the same time, and her feedback is outstanding (in spite of the cancellations) as well. (cont'd) (9/27/2009)

Question: Hi - Jim again - Depending on when you want this done, and how it fits into my calendar, the MAXimum cost would be, $1,700, including $800 (7.5 mpg) for fuel and tolls. If I don't use the entire fuel allotment, the remainder is credited against the balance due upon delivery. If the motorhome were to achieve 9 mpg, the total cost would be about $125 less. I should be able to deliver on the fourth day after pick up, weather and road conditions permitting. When driving motorhomes, I don't exceed 65 mph, no matter the limit, and frequently drive slower. I do drive to minimize stress, and maximize fuel mileage. Let me know if I can provide any other information or assistance, and if you would like me to submit a formal bid. Thanks for your continued interest. ~Jim (9/25/2009)

Question: (con't from above) Though I've never met her personally, I feel I know about her character, as we've bid on many of the same listings, and she has always conducted herself in an honorable manner. I've read through all her feedback, and one can tell from what her customers say, that she will do a fine job. I would trust her to do a job for me, and there aren't many people I can say that about. She does have a ten day pick up window listed in the details of her bid, and even that may not be fast enough for you, but it's much better than I can do. I'm sorry I can't get to you when you wanted. Things change momentarily in this business, and that's how many of the service providers have ended up with cancellations. I don't want cancellations on my record, so I don't place bids here on uShip until the shipper is positive they want to use me, and then I place only one bid at a time; unfortunately it's a first come, first serve scenario, and sometimes demand exceeds supply. Thanks. ~Jim (9/27/2009)

Question: Steve - Just a couple more thoughts (I hate that uShip doesn't allow us to have personal contact before a bid is accepted, and them limits our character counts in messages, so things get broken up). I wanted to thank you again for taking the time to read through at least some of my feedback, and exhibiting confidence in my character. I also wanted to wish you good luck with this shipment, and hope that everything works out well for you. Finally, if you're ever in need of transport service again, I hope you will consider requesting a bid from me, though if you end up using Judy for this job, you'll probably just call her for future jobs, and I would understand that. Safe travels. ~Jim (9/27/2009)

Response: Thanks for your help and advice.I don't want to edit the listing but I am used to buying vehicles on the East coast and just having them transported by truck. I have not had to plan the logistics associated with a drive away service. Since we are close to NYC I should have made the destination Newark
making for less tolls and easy flights back. If there's anything else you can suggest to make it more attractive please let me know.
Thanks
Steve (9/28/2009)

Response: Hi Steve - The listing is attractive enough; the only thing keeping me from doing it, now that you're on board with the plate and insurance, is the timing. The job that I'm leaving for on Tuesday came in yesterday; the job from the regular customer came in this morning, as I was delivering a truck in San Diego, CA. It's thoughtful of you to consider the more challenging logistics involved with drive-away service; we do have to get to the pick-up point and away from the destination. I've learned quite a bit about public transportation (the only way to keep down the costs, and respectively, the bids) in the last few years. Brewster looked a little tough at first, but wasn't going to present a huge problem, if you could get me over to Croton Harmon, and train service. The big auction houses, like Manheim, usually have shuttle service to the nearest airport or train station. Having Newark as the destination makes this job a cake walk; and maybe even less costly. Thanks again, Steve. (9/28/2009)
