Question: Do you mean that it need to ship on its bac? not standing on its legs? (9/27/2007)
Response: the desk can stand on it's legs. also the legs are removeable, so either way it is easier for protecting and shipping. there is also a glass writing surface (removeable) that would be nice to have shipped along with the desk. this can be re-bought locally if needed. thanks, jay (9/27/2007)
