Additional Information: 1966 Airstream Caravel Travel Trailer. Have not seen the trailer in person, but seller says tires are in good shape and is not sure about wheel bearings. Says his son towed it from VT to MN with a Ford Ranger w/no problems. 2" ball hitch. Not sure if brake assist or lights work of what type of pigtail is needed, likely "stock". Would prefer the unit to be carried rather than hauled since we're not sure of brakes/tires/wheel bearing shape at this point in time. But if too expensive to carry, may consider someones offer to haul it. Dimensions listed are estimates until I can get seller to measure the unit. Report a Violation

Questions for this shipment:

Question: I JUST PLACED A BID BUT FORGOT TO TELL YOU WE LIVE IN MN SO THIS IS REAL CLOSE OBC1 (10/7/2006)
Question: IS THERE ANY WAY TO LET US KNOW IF WE CAN MOVE THIS FOR YOU, IF IT NEEDS BEARINGS DONE OR TIRES REPLACED WE CAN DO THAT ONLY CHARGE YOU FOR THE PARTS. (10/8/2006)
Response: Hi OBC1, I'll think about that, how much experience do you have with changing wheel bearings/tires on a vintage trailer? The trailer is outside, would you be able to do that kind of work without a shop and access to tools other than what you bring with you? Again, we are not sure if the brake assist works or not and if you'd have the ability to hook them up, do you know? Want you to be safe and the trailer to be safe. So still looking into flatbed trailers. Have you ever hauled a vintage Airstream or similar before? If so, can you give me a reference? (10/8/2006)
Question: BEEN IN BUSINESS 11 YEARS. THE TIRES PROBABLY NEED TO BE CHANGED JUST FROM SITTING, MAYBE DRY ROT , THE WHEELS SHOULD HAVE BEARINGS BUDDIES PUT IN (10/8/2006)
Response: what about the brake assist, not sure it's working at all, does that concern you? It worries me that it could turn on you. (10/8/2006)
Question: Thank you for your bid request.I can get this for you around the 1st of the month for $1400.00 as long as I have a couple weeks notice as I am filling the load.Bearing repack and lights are stnd procedure for us at no cost to you before we tow anything.Does this trailer have the old VW rims or ford. Have a great day! Jeff (10/8/2006)
Response: Hi Jeff, What do you mean 'filling the load'? Would you be pulling the trailer or putting it on a flatbed? Don't know about the rims, I suppose they are stock Airstream, whatever was put on in '66. IF any help, the '65 Caravel manual says it came equipped with Goodyear 7:50x14 travel trailer tires (tubeless). Not even sure if the brake assist works, so would prefer a carrier to be able to put it on a flatbed for safety reasons. Are you able to do that? (10/8/2006)
Question: IF YOU MEAN THE ELECTRIC BRAKES WE HAVE THAT IN OUR TRUCKS IF YOURS DOESNT WORK IT MIGHT HAVE TO BE FIXED, TRAILER REPAIR SHOPS DO THAT, WE CAN TELL IF THEIR NOT WORKING (10/8/2006)
Question: Thank you for your bid request, But I do not service the Pick up area Thanks Dave (10/8/2006)
Question: Thanks for the request, but not in the Mn area presently. (10/9/2006)
Question: Airstreem used small bolt pattern ford and vw rims on there campers.I would be pulling it behind a box truck. It weighs to much for me to put it on my car trailer. We always install bearing buddys on the axles. Its fast, simple and all you have to do is stop every 300 miles and squirt grease in them to lubricate the bearings.Have a great day! Jeff (10/9/2006)
Question: My bid is for a flatbed trailer, I need a loading and unloading dock, ramps are too steep. KVE (10/9/2006)
Response: Hello KVE, if the ramps are too steep, I guess it won't work as the trailer is just sitting in the guys back yard, there is no loading or unloading dock. Thanks anyway. (10/9/2006)
Question: Thank you for your request. Sorry but I do not service the pick up area. Best of luck with your shipment. (10/9/2006)
Question: thank you for the request.my price would be .95/mile 1875$ (10/9/2006)
Question: SINCE THIS IS SO CLOSE WE COULD GO INSPECT IT, SEE WHAT CAN BE FIXED THERE THEN BRING IT TO HAVE BRAKES FIXED. OUR BID THEN WOULD BE 1800 PLUS PARTS AND THE REPAIR BUT I NEED TO KNOW SOON. OBC1 (10/9/2006)
Response: Ok, well thanks. I think I'll continue looking for a flatbed so we don't have to worry about repairs being "outsourced". We'll take care of any repairs that need to be done when we get it. Thanks very much anyway. (10/9/2006)
Question: Hello! I can get this done for you within the next 10 days for $1,600,fully insured.I will inspect and service bearings, tires as needed. Thanks! Glenn~BigBoyzToyz~ (10/9/2006)
Question: You will not find a flatbed with ramps for this trailer, it's too wide to go on a car hauler, and too low to go on a standard flatbed. Good luck. KVE (10/9/2006)
Question: Morn... will pull your trailer... for 1350.oo (If something crators- will you reimuburse? ) If so... could head there later this week. Peace, Gm-Cc. P.S. to be sure- will transport the AirS via hitch if whatever happens and if murphy's law visits. I'll call get direction form you and or make the fix... and keep \turn in reciepts. (10/9/2006)
Response: Hello, what do you mean "if something crators?" Have you got experience hauling a travel trailer? Not sure if lights work, you may need magnetic ones, is that ok? May need bearings packed for the trip and you may want to check the tires, not sure how old they are. Would you be able to do that? Thanks, awolff (10/9/2006)
Question: Oops... been around the young folk too much "Crators"= Goes south, breaks, twist off, for whatever reason stops being functional. Yes... Pls feel free to look at my profile. I actually have been in one from NM to AR to AL( Alsaska ) Canada and back. As for the rear lights... that is a great 49.99 patch that works everytime. Went to school and am ASE certified ( I've not kept up the CEU's though ) Actually just preformed the maintanence on my equipment three weeks ago. - Yes. So... here's what I'm offereing like the 30' boat I pulled from MD to CA I'll give it my best effort- if something "crators" I act in your stead... All I ask is you treat me as if I were you. We will have to work together and extend trust. This WEB does not easily faciltate that... But I do. Regardless if you go with us you need a person with time, patience, experience of the road and equipment. I have nothing to gain other then work diligently for you. your consideration is appreciated. Peace, Gm-Cc (10/9/2006)
Response: Hello again, thanks for the translation! :-) You sound very qualified, I checked your feedback and all looks good. Can I get back to you by tomorrow? or Can you officially put in the Bid with an expiration date of whatever you see fit and I'll accept officially via uship? I'm just waiting on some other quotes and will let you know by tomorrow or Wed latest. (10/9/2006)
