Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hello, is the piano going to Greece or Poland. We are agents for large Forwarding company and can pickup at the end of the month, pad, crate, and ship to whatever destination you want. Please update us as soon as you can. Thanks. (10/19/2008)
Response: Hi AmericanMoving, the piano is going to Poland (see this updated listing). I would like more info on your past experience with grand piano crating. Tell me what documents you will need to proceed with the transportation (exporting it from the US and importing it to Poland) and any additional charge for full value protection. Send me a copy of what is and what is not included in the price (terms or conditions). I will not be escorting the piano (I live in Greece), it will be delivered at the repair shop in Poland. Pick up date is not flexible (10-29-2008 at the latest). (10/23/2008)
Response: Got, pickup schedule is not a problem. I have a crew in LA on the 27th and 28th. It will take a day or so to get the bid put together for you. Crating any heavy fragile item takes the right materials, skills, and know how. We would use a 4 x 4 base frame, and build walls with 2 x 4 and 3/4 inch ply. Cribbing to secure the piano in the crate and all foam and cloth padding included. I'll have my staff work on the bid now. (10/23/2008)
Response: Old question, not relevant any longer. In fact, I may have the piano crated and look for a shipping company to send it to Poland. (2/17/2009)
Question: Its now the 28th and we do not have deal with you. Would like to...b4 I go and get the numbers, is this shipment still available. (10/28/2008)
Response: Hi AmericanMoving, The shipment is still available. Had some trouble finding out whether I need a CITES permit for the piano (it has no ivory in its white keys, so I do not need one) and its serial number and age. Your crating method is sound. Please tell me what documents you will need to proceed with the transportation (exporting it from the US and importing it to Poland) and any additional charge for full value protection. The piano will have to be insured for the trip to Poland and after it is repaired it will be re-exported to Greece. Send me a copy of what is and what is not included in the price (terms or conditions). So, I will need your price quote for the trip to Poland and another one for the trip from Poland to Greece. (11/27/2008)
Response: Just back from holiday. I'll work on a bid and post asap. Thank you. (12/2/2008)
Response: Hi AmericanMoving, I have no bid from you yet. Will I be wishing to my piano seasons greeting from afar? Best regards and Merry Christmas, angelpiano (12/16/2008)
Question: You are seeking a DDP rate but we cannot accurately quote that rate without the piano value. Also is this piano going to be re-exported from Poland? Because that would affect the customs clearance process. thanks! mark @ its (11/18/2008)
Response: The piano value (for insurance purposes) will be between $20,000 and $40,000. The piano is going to be imported to the European Union (Poland) and will later go to Greece (still inside the EU). (2/17/2009)
Question: Thank you for your bid request, however we do not ship pianos or anything overseas. (12/30/2008)
Response: Ok. Thanks anyway. (2/17/2009)
Question: contact a local carpenter to crate and i can ship it for you (12/30/2008)
Response: Ok. I will see what I can do. (2/17/2009)
Question: Thank-you for your bid request. The best way to have this shipped is have it crated first. The crater will come to the shop and pick-up the Piano There are probably several craters in the origin area. Once the Piano has been crated. Then I will have it taken to the PORT and shipped. The only Cost I will be able to verify is the Shipping Port to Port, Pick-up and Crating Charges. Any Port to Door in Poland charges I can not arrange. Would you like me to pursue this avenue for you? Thanks Dave (12/30/2008)
Response: I want to avoid having many people handling the piano, if possible. I cannot supervise the crater. If his work is substandard, there may be damage to the piano during the journey. (1/2/2009)
Response: You will not be able to avoid multiple people handling this shipment. The crater will be more than qualified. The transport to and from the Port will be another party, The Ocean Liner will be another handler then the Port in Poland will handle the item again. Now you still have to get it to it's final destination. It will not be possible to do this without an exchange of hands at various points. I have handled numerous shipments like this. I understand and can appreciate your concerns. I assure you we will handle this only with the best of care. Thanks Dave (1/2/2009)
Response: Thank you for your reply. You are of course correct in that multiple parties/people will be handling this shipment, physically anyway. I want to have as few parties/people responsible for it towards me. (1/4/2009)
Question: What are you declaring the value for customs? american worldwide freight services (12/31/2008)
Response: The declared value for customs is $6,000. (1/2/2009)
Response: Trucking from the Port in Poland to the door at Kalisz is $271.96. THc,LCL, LOT charges are $70 w/m. Customs entry is $100.00 D/O is $25.00. ISPS is $1.50 w/m with a $8.00 min. Customs clearance not including any duties or fees is $135.00 if you use my broker and agent at the port. AMERICAN WORLDWIDE FREIGHT SERVICES (1/12/2009)
Response: I am not sure but the formula for total expences from the Port in Poland to the door at Kalisz seems to be: 271.96 + 70*6(=cubic meters of shipment?) + 100 + 25+1.5*6(=cubic meters of shipment?)+135 = $960.96, not including any duties or fees if I use your broker and agent. Am I correct in my assumptions? If not, please tell me how to calculate the cost. What about duties and fees? How much are they (roughly speaking) and how do I pay them? (1/13/2009)
Response: YES, YOUR CALCULATIONS ARE CORRECT AS I AMBASING THIS ON A PROJECTED CRATED SIZE OF 6.01 CUBIC METERS. I HAVE NOT SEEN THE PIANO SO YOU MUST ALLOW ME A LITTLE ROOM FOR ADJUSTMENT. I ASSUME THERE IS NO BENCH WITH THIS. BY THE WAY PAYMENT FOR THIS IS DUE UPON ISSUANCE OF THE OCEAN BILL OF LADING. IT IS NOT PAYABLE UPON DELIVERY. AS TO DUTIES AND FEES, IT WOULD BE WISE TO CHECK WITH THE POLISH CONSULATE IN ATHENS AS THEY HAVE A ATTACHE THAT HANDLES THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION. REMEMBER TO TELL THEM THAT THE SHIPMENT IS NOT STAYING IN POLAND. (1/13/2009)
Question: I can bid this door to port including picking it up in Modesto and crating it but I cannot deliver it. I would suggest that the consignee arrange for delivery using a piano delivery service since it appears they want inside delivery and setup. american worldwide freight services (1/2/2009)
Response: Can you have the piano delivered in Poland (at a port) with the import papers etc. completed? From there I or the consignee may be able to arrange transport to Kalisz. The piano is going to a repair shop so there is no need for setup as such, just for verification of safe arrival (at the shop). After repairs, the piano will go to Greece (within EU). (1/4/2009)
Response: Yes, I can. Iwill also check on delivery but I believe it will be cheaper and easier for your consginee to clear customs and deliver it out to Kalisz. Make sure you inform Polish customs that the piano is not staying in Poland. american worldwide freight services (1/5/2009)
Response: Can I have a bid from you with details (price, dates, insurance, with and without customs clearance, etc.) so that I can arrange the rest with my consignee? (1/6/2009)
Response: I am goi9ng to check with a piano packer I have in the Modesto area. Usually these are packed in used cardboard crates but this will not satisfy insurance for a trip like this so I will have to skeleton crate it as well. american worldwide freight services/lax (1/7/2009)
Question: This type of shipment cannot be properly organized via uship (because of the blind bidding process) and you would be wise to directly engage a professional freight company with whom you can communicate. Also you are asking for firm bids to Poland & Greece without providing specific destination details. Do not use uship for this shipment. Thanks! mark @ ITS (2/17/2009)
Response: The present listing is only for shipping to Poland. The trip from Poland to Greece will be another shipment. Anyway, thank you for your thoughts. (2/17/2009)
