Response: I still have to find out from seller if the timing belt has been changed because if it broke it would cause severe engine damage. Seller is supposed to get back with me tomorrow so I will not have an answer till then. If it proves to be road worthy I expect it to be available for pick up Friday 1/25/2008. Response: There are no records showing where the timing belt has been changed since 1996 so I cannot take a chance on destroying the engine. The car will need to be picked up or towed. It will not be ready to ship till 1/31/08 do to paper work that has to be sent back and forth before the car can be released to a shipper. Response: The timing belt might not need to be changed. It needs to be inspected to determine its condition. I know it was changed at 48K in 1996 but nothing after that. I believe that it was changed within the last 12 years but do not want to take a chance. When the car gets to Nashville it will be going straight to German Performance Options to be checked out. Response: As you know 850 Volvo's have timing belt that need to be changed every 50K or so miles so this 850 Volvo's belt was done at 48K and does not show any belt change after. Car is showing 121,000 so it needs to be transported to me not driven. Need to get car to shop for belt replacement. Jeff (2/5/2008)
