Questions for this shipment:

Question: are you sure about the weight? if we can get the weight down to 10,000 and length down to about 45 feet we can deliver this week for you (12/9/2007)
Response: Here is what I did. I estimated the total number of timbers by counting them in the pictures I have of the building. I had the actual dimensions of some of the timbers and estimated the others a bit high, I think. I computed the number of cubic feet of wood in Excel and came up with 632. I looked on the Internet and found that dry poplar (what the guy selling the building thinks it is made of) weighs about 29 pounds per cubic foot, and that figures to about 18,000 pounds. But, one of the guys selling the building said that a larger building he sold recently weighed about 6 ton and this should be less. So, maybe it might weigh 5 tons, but I didn't want to understate the weight to you. Regarding the length, all timbers are no more than 25 feet except two, which are 50 feet and I really don't want to cut them because if I did, then I might as well move it myself. Can you let those two hang over the end with a red flag? (12/9/2007)
Response: thank you for the response. i think that we can deal with the length as long as we can handle the weight. so you think it should be less than 10000 pounds? (12/9/2007)
Response: Good! I will get the guy that is selling the building, and who has sold a couple more similar buildings to help me estimate the weight tomorrow and get back with that information on this posting. (12/9/2007)
Response: we look forward to working with you (12/9/2007)
Response: I have spoken with the seller and the weight should be no more than 10,000 pounds with only the two 50' timbers more than 25 feet. It will be ready to pick up on Monday December 17. So, I hope you can now place a bid. (12/10/2007)
Response: the length will not be a problem we have figured out how to haul them no matter how tall the lumber stacks up. we can be there first thing on monday morning to get loaded and you will have it by tuesday evening if we can get loaded fast enough. We run two drivers so that we do not have to stop. we can deliver for you without problems or worries on your end. our bid would be 2300.00 if this will work please let me know and we will bid accordingly. Thank you and have a great day and merry Christmas. Your friends at Osborne Inboard Transport US DOT 1673057 (12/10/2007)
Response: Yes, please bid. In your bid, please describe trailer set-up and how you will haul the 50' timbers and what equipment you will use. (12/10/2007)
Question: if u can cut those two to 45 fot i can bring the whole load to u for 2000 and pick up tomorrow and deliver by friday at latest (12/9/2007)
Response: I appreciate your attractive offer very much. Two considerations for me are: (1) I don't think the building will be taken apart until Wednesday or Thursday (I will be there for at least part of this) and (2) The 50 foot timbers are very unique because they are simply not available today at all, and they were made using axes and adzes as no sawmill could handle them in 1870. I really hate cutting them, but I do have a call into a timber frame expert to talk to him about this. I take it you cannot let the other 5 feet hang out the end with a red flag? I will back in touch with you tomorrow with more information. (12/9/2007)
Response: no sir only 4 feet can stick out past end of trailer until u have to have a permitt and if 10 does u have to have an escort,if this may work for u i may be back this way next week and may could do this for u then if u get the 2 long beams worked out (12/9/2007)
Response: Well, I can see that my table didn't come through as a table and looks like gibberish. I am going to copy them here a row at a time (refer to the headings I provided earlier). Here goes: 2 50 7 8 38.9 6 25 7 9 65.6 14 12 7 9 73.5 1 15 9 12 11.3 1 24 9 12 18.0 1 12 9 12 9.0 4 12 7 9 21.0 10 13 4 9 32.5 4 12 4 9 12.0 24 8 4 4 21.3 15 25 2 6 31.3 96 18 3 6 216.0 96 4 3 6 48.0 38 4 4 8 33.8 I think I may have overestimated the number of rafters at 48 sets (making up the 96 sticks shown above) so the 96 could be 64. I'lll clear this up tomorrow. Also, the guy disassembling the building will load the timbers for you. (12/9/2007)
Question: sir i think i have a way i can haul the 50 foot beam how manny of the 50 foot beams were there,if the rest of the lumber stacks up to the top of my toung on my gooseneck i could let the beams go forward on the toung and stick over some on the rear and it would work (12/9/2007)
Response: Thanks for using your imagination on this! I have been told there are only 2 50' timbers and they have not said they are any longer than that, so I think we can plan on this. I am pasting in my Excel table showing my estimate of the timber inventory. I hope this is readable when you see it. If not, let me know and I will try something else. I notice that the column headings aren't coming through right, so here they are from left to right: Quantity, Length in feet, Width in inches, Depth in inches, and cubic feet. This should allow you to figure out if you can stack the timbers high enough. You could also just use the cubic feet to estimate how high your stack could be in hte middle if desired. Quantity Length (ft) Width (in) Depth (in) Cubic Feet 2 50 7 8 38.9 6 25 7 9 65.6 14 12 7 9 73.5 1 15 9 12 11.3 1 24 9 12 18.0 1 12 9 12 9.0 4 12 7 9 21.0 10 13 4 9 32.5 4 12 4 9 12.0 24 8 4 4 21.3 15 25 2 6 31.3 96 18 3 6 216.0 96 4 3 6 48.0 38 4 4 8 33.8 Total: 632.1 (12/9/2007)
Response: ok i have another load i think i may win in the morning that is going too new mexico also so if i do i will take it and find something back and could pick this up say monday or tuesday if i can get somthing comeing back that quick will that work for you (12/9/2007)
Response: Yes, I can be very flexible in when this is done. See my other response sent a few minutes ago. (12/9/2007)
Response: okay as soon as you are for sure with all let me know so i can bid and you can accept so we will have a way to talk to each other so i know for sure i have this load and can try to plan my other load so i can try and get back here to it,also will it be cash when i deliver srry i have to always ask this and get the payment worked out before hand.some of these people get peoded when you ak this but i like to have everything worked out so there are no problem when the haul is complete, thankyou in advance (12/9/2007)
Response: I have spoken with the seller and the weight should be no more than 10,000 pounds with only the two 50' timbers more than 25 feet. It will be ready to pick up on Monday Deember 17. So, I hope you can now place a bid. (12/10/2007)
Question: now two of my loads have been canceled so would maybe next thursday or friday be ok (12/10/2007)
Response: Did you mean December 20 or 21st for pick up or delivery? Either would be OK. I will be at the site where the building is this Thursday, December 13 when the owner takes the building down, which he says will take one day or a bit longer. Thus, I think the timbers will be ready by this Friday afternoon (December 14). (12/10/2007)
Response: will try to pick up by 20th (12/10/2007)
Response: Are you going to bid, then? If so, can you provide references since there is no feedback on UShip that I can check? (12/10/2007)
Response: i dont have any people i have pulled for yet i have been running threw a broker and his authority and now i have my own authority and insurance and have been hunting loads for myself he will send me out and find nothing comeing back, but if you are satisfied with the price i will bid and then i will have my insurance agent send u a coy of my insurance and all if ok with the other (12/10/2007)
Response: I am new to UShip, too, but I think you need to submit an actual bid. (12/10/2007)
Response: i have bid why havent you accepted it,my trailer is 40 foot flat bed goose neck and yes they will fit on it,i may be able to be there late friday or early sat morning will u still be there sat.yes i have 10 stapps so it will be straped good.i will help him load it if he will let me,would like for u to accept bid so i wil have contact info so we can talk on phone okay (12/10/2007)
