Question: How tall are the plants that you would like to ship? Thanks (10/16/2007)

Response: The tallest specimens can be up to 6 feet tall. (10/16/2007)

Response: I see this is residence to business, will there be people to load and unload available so I can give an accurate bid. Also, it looks like this Friday or Saturday is available will that work for you? Thanks (10/16/2007)

Response: Hi,
We live at the end of a winding road. A large truck could not get up it. If we're talking about a big truck, we'd have to ferry the plants down to the main road. At the other end, nursery staff would unload. Here, we'd have to do it ourselves (Just two of us). Before we can commit, we need to OK the price of the move with the receiving nursery. (10/16/2007)

Response: Let me know if this price is OK and I will meet with you wherever we can so it will be convenient for loading. Look forward to meeting you. Thanks (10/16/2007)

Response: Thank you for taking the time for the estimate. We'll have to let it go as the cost exceeds that of the plants. Tom and Susan (10/17/2007)

Response: Thank you for for your response. I would like to try and make this work for both of us, what amount would work for you? I am thinking I could put another trailer that is enclosed on our pickup and drive right up to your place and if you were able to load it and have it unloaded then that would save alot on fuel costs for you. Let me know. Thanks (10/18/2007)

Response: We have asked the Portland nursery for a $5 surcharge per plant for shipping. We have given them options for shipping 41 (using our own pickup) to 86 plants (our pickup + rental trailer). We don't want the hassle of overnight stays and dog boarding so we would rather ship commercially. The nursery hasn't responded to the request for $5/plant and maybe you can't ship at that rate. The pots are .8 sq ft and 15 lbs. We can load them onto anybody's pickup/trailer.
It has been suggested that we "palletize" our shipment. We could fill up to 6 pallets with 16 plants each but we don't have pallets or plastic wrap. A neighbor does have a pallet jack. Maybe we should wait until next year's blooming season and put out a more coherent request for bid.
Thanks, - T o m (10/18/2007)

Response: Hi Tom,
Thank you for the info. that is very helpful. OK, I can put a trailer on the truck at the $5.00 per plant cost with 66 plant minimum and 90 maximum. I would like to complete this for you on Sat. If this will work then let me know and I will place another bid for your acceptance. Thanks, Mike (10/18/2007)

Response: M i k e - The nursery couldn't get hold of the business manager on his day off but the hangup is where to put them when they get there given some expected storm conditions and greenhouse capacity. Delivery coordination on Saturday or Sunday is a question. They accept the $5/plant surcharge for shipping so we commit to you for a shipment. Use the number of 86 plants that we formally offered them.
They will call us on Friday morning with any last minute details and we will pass along any specifics such as the greenhouse location on Sauvie Island.
Thanks, - T o m (10/18/2007)

Response: Hi Tom,
I am standing by. I can be in Brookings Sat Morning around 8:30 and should be in Portland around 3pm on Sat. 10/20. Thanks for working this out Tom, Mike (10/18/2007)

Response: We are 3.5 miles up Winchuck River Rd which is just across the river boundary into Oregon. Call to determine your closest approach to Winriver Dr for loading via pickup truck.
Thanks, - T o m (10/18/2007)

Response: Hi Tom,
Thanks again for your efforts on this, I think we will be able to set this up so everyone will be happy. I really appreciate your energy on this. I will wait until tomorrow to place the bid to make sure we will have someplace to go with it first because if a bid is accepted then the fees will have to be forwarded and I don't want to take a chance just yet. I will talk to you in the morning Tom. Thanks, Mike (10/18/2007)
