Questions for this shipment:

Question: I can deliver this at the last week in Nov. Can pick up any time after the 19th. I am based in the Los Angeles area (San Fernando Valley) An 8x10 storage locker is pretty good size, is it packed tight and all the way to the top. Also, do you have loading/unloading help? Thanks, Jim (11/3/2005)
Response: The contents are packed pretty tight, but not completely to the top; probably about 80%. At present no loading or unloading help, but could possibly arrange that in both locations. (11/3/2005)
Question: Greeting. Our local Los Angeles office can pick up anytime, anyday. We will provide you with the lowest rate in the market. We will also offer you free insurance. Finally, we will pack and re-pack you cargo to prep for shipping (if needed). 600 lbs of boxes will be around $450.oo, 400 lbs of boxes may be around $350, 300 lbs may be around $295.00. These rates are meant to privde you with a ball park figure. they will only be binding providing we get the weights and measures of the boxes. We are bonded, insured, and will treat your shipment delicately, professionally and personal. Please check out our feedback. Give me some solid number to enable me to quote better. For example/...Box (1) 20x20x20" 50lbs, boxes (2,3,4,5) 25x25x24" 60 lbs each, box (6) 24x18x18" 75 lbs each......etc, let me know if I can answer any of your questions. (11/3/2005)
Response: At the time goods were placed in the unit there was no contemplation of movement. Accordingly, I do not have specific weights/dimensions on the items in storage. Your rates seem very good, but I have no way of translating the items into a total pounds. Can you provide a maximum amount for the move based on the volume? (11/3/2005)
Question: We can pick up with or without loading dock. No extra charge. Thanks (11/3/2005)
Response: The facility in L.A. has a loading dock, dollies, etc. The storage unit is airconditioned on the 3rd floor and a freight elevator is used to move items to the dock area. (11/3/2005)
Question: It is extremely difficult to give a rate and stick to it if we don't have the details. I can offer the following. I can have one of our staff members go to your storage facility, get the pieces and aproximate weights, and give you a rate. I can also offer you that the following, we pick up shipment from storage, we bring to our local Gardena warehouse, weigh and measure everything, and give you a price. If our price is not acceptable, I will store the goods for you 1 week free of charge, and you can have any other company pick them up (Free of charge). Please let me know. (11/5/2005)
Response: Your first solution may be viable, however, the second serves to only to add uncertainty by forcing decisions upon me which I currently don't have to make. I'll see if I can make arrangements with the storage facility and get back to you. (11/5/2005)
Question: Maybe this might work for you. I could load the second week of December and deliver within three to five days later. We are a local moving company based out of Richardson, Texas and could do it for $500.00 to $700.00. Price is based on a 1000lbs, would not exceed $700.00, depending on what kind of packing needs to be done. Let me know if this might work for you. Thanks, Todd (11/11/2005)
Response: Yes, Todd, your price is doable, but what if the weight goes above 1000#. Perhaps you could agree in advance as to the amount that would apply to a range of weight, say $500 from 0 to 1000#; $600 from 1001 to 2000# and so forth. At the present I have no idea what the total weight is...only the nature of the contents and the dimensions of the storage unit itself. Also, Can you provide references and insurance? (11/11/2005)
Question: Thank you for the reply. I do not provide insurance, and please check my feedback for references. If the weight was 2000lbs, $700 would be the price. The only thing I would charge more for, is if the items needed to be packed. Sounds like a pretty simple move from what you listed. It shouldn't weigh more then 2000lbs, unless you have a lot of books. Are there any big furniture items?? Let's keep in touch and when I can give you a better time frame, I will. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, Thanks Todd (11/11/2005)
Response: Thank you. I have to arrange storage in Dallas and make some arrangements in L.A. for loading help. There is a fair quantity of books, but most of it is just "stuff." What kind of charge for packing because there are some clothes which were put in trash bags as an expedient measure when they were put into storage? There are no furniture items like mattresses, tables, chairs, etc. (11/11/2005)
Question: Would you like your clothes repacked? I would not need any help for loading. Depending on how much packing is involved, my guess would be $75.00 to $200.00. Are you looking for a permanent or temporary storage unit in Texas? Thanks, Todd (11/12/2005)
Response: Don't really want clothes repacked as I want to go through them once I have them in Dallas. I am looking for a storage facility that could accomodate my things for at least a year; that would be considered permanent I suppose. (11/12/2005)
Question: Hey there. Your stuff may weigh as much as 8000lb's. 8 by 10 packed to the roof is a lot of stuff. I can give you a flat rate of $2/mile, no extras provided it will fit in a 24 by 8 moving truck. Thanks, Martin. (11/13/2005)
Response: Thanks for your reply, Martin, however, at that price I can buy a truck and move it myself. Regards. (11/13/2005)
Question: If you look at the sequence of the Q&A, your most concerned about not being overcharged. Rightly so, yet, what I think you should do is to go down to the storage, or have us go to the storage, and evaluate the shipment before we bid. You want me to guarantee you a rate without knowing exactly what you have. Please allow one of my crew to evaluate the shipment visually, and get some numbers going. I've been in this business since 1987, and as much as we want to help you make a decision to go with our company, as much as you have to do your own homework to help reach to that decision. We are local in California, and can help you in every aspect of your shipment. Please read our feedback very carefully, and get an idea of what our previous clients' experiences. Good luck (11/17/2005)
Response: Your suggestion is a good one but for the fact that I'm now in Texas and will have to make arrangements to return to California, a trip the actual move might justify, but one that is not just to obtain an estimate that might not be acceptable anyway. (11/17/2005)
Question: Can a 32' trailer get into the storage unit? (11/25/2005)
Response: The storage unit is on the 2nd level of a storage facility so no vehicle can get to it directly. Such a trailer could, however, easily access the loading area I believe. I'll call the Manager of the facility and get his reaction and let you know further, ok. (11/25/2005)
Question: Ok, let me know as soon as you can about the trailer access because Rollen Hills is leaving for CA on Monday and would be in your area late next week or early the next. (11/26/2005)
Response: Javier at the Storage facility says a 31-32' trailer can backup to the loading dock with no difficulty. (11/26/2005)
Question: hi I,m going to gulfport mississippi first week of dec would you consider renting a trailer i would like all expenses paid my time would be free. I,m driving a 2001 lincoln navaigator suv (11/26/2005)
Response: At this time anything is possible. We'd have to agree on some price for loading as I don't have anyone at the moment to load the items in L.A. and I'd prefer not to have to make a trip there just for this purpose. Also, I'd want references, etc. which I'm sure you would also require were you in my place. Still interested? (11/26/2005)
Question: Ok, and how far from the loading dock to the storage unit upsatirs. I am trying to get an idea on how long it will take for 2 guys to load. ( Roll'en Hills) (11/27/2005)
Response: The unit is located in a hallway. One has to load the things on large flatbed dollies, travel about ten yards, make a left turn and go about 12 feet, then take an immediate right to the large freight elevators. These open onto a staging area that has three large garage type doors. These open directly onto the loading dock. I can't provide a direct answer as things went into the unit over a period of time rather than in a single move, but honestly I shouldn't think it would take all that long using the flatbed dollies to bring things down to the dock area. (11/27/2005)
Question: I think I got it. Minimu $800 and a maximum of $1300. Would that work? Please let me know. We're located in LA and can do this as early as tomorrow. (11/28/2005)
Question: Hello, (11/30/2005)
Question: Hello, My turck will be in Cal. Dec. 5 or 6 and could still do this if your interested. Thanks, Cindy (11/30/2005)
Response: Yes, would still like to consider your offer, Cindy. However, I have to decide whether the difference of $600 ($1300 max with uieusa versus $700 with you)is worth the additional service they provide, i.e. They are bonded, insured, and will treat my shipment delicately, professionally and personal according to their reply to an earlier query. Also, they will repack any items necessary to assure they are transported safely. Naturally I'd like to get the items to Dallas as economically as possible, but I do want to make sure they get here and in good condition which I'm sure you can appreciate. Can you help me balance this equation and facilitate my decision? (Risk Uncertainty - Knowledge of Shipper) > $600 (11/30/2005)
Question: Thank you for your response and I do understand your concerns. We wo are insured and bondedand will handle your shippment professionallyas wellas with great care .Our company moto is that "We Move It Like Its Our Own" As for as repacking items we too will make sure that things are put back in boxes or containers if they have been disturbed but I will not go thur already packed boxes to see that they are in good order to be shipped. I am bidding on an unseen storage unit and fell that we can load and unload it to you and that you will be happy with our service and look forward to hereing from you. My truck will be in Cal. over the weekend and 1st part of next week to load and return to Texas. Hope we can work together> Thank You Cindy (11/30/2005)
Question: Do you still need this moved? (12/1/2005)
Response: Yes, I made storage arrangements in Dallas today. If you're still willing to take the job for $700, provide the services you indicated, and will provide information allowing me to corroborate your representations we can proceed. Let me know. (12/1/2005)
