Questions for this shipment:

Question: Good day, looking at your speakers now and we will be in Tampa and then Sarasota on Wednesday 5/21 and then over to Winter Park/Orlando and back up by Saturday. No need for crating, as we have full-logistics moving trailer. I am backfilling him now from Florida and presently have 1 car and possibly another so would need to know asap if you could as I plan on having him fully loaded by Staurday for return trip to Wisconsin. Thx in advance, Jim (5/15/2008)
Response: Thanks for your interest. I am a little confused by your question: "I am backfilling him now from Florida and presently have 1 car and possibly another so would need to know asap if you could as I plan on having him fully loaded by Staurday for return trip to Wisconsin." What is it you need to know asap?? I'll be away most of the day, but will be able to check e-mail later in the evening. (5/15/2008)
Response: 6:06am, and I will not be arond to reply until later this afternoon. Thx again, Jim (5/16/2008)
Response: Just wondered why I never heard back from you. Do you have any other questions? I'll need to make a decision soon, so please let me know if you are interested in tackling this job. Thanks! Richard (5/18/2008)
Response: Hello Richard and sorry for my late reply I was out of town until late last evening. I have placed the bid. Kevin would be the driver and he was leaving for Fla this am. It is now 5:30am and I myself am leaving for a run from here up to Door County and will not return until Tuesday later sometime. Jim (5/19/2008)
Response: Jim, I replied to your bid at 10:40 AM but have received no response, and now your bid is listed as "Expired." Your message said: "Driver's name is Kevin, his contact number is attached to bid. 12pm Eastern time 11am Central time is window when he would no longer be able to fulfill this shipment obligation." However, there was no phone number, as apparently uShip does not allow them. So now where do we stand?? Richard (5/21/2008)
Response: Hello Richard, and you should have a reply to where you had entered a question earlier on the last bid. As for recieving no response, I must mention it I also am a mover and either trucking or moving things and are not at a PC during working hours(sigh) I have been in Door County Mon/Tues and Appleton today and just got back in. Therefore unable to answer you. As for his number attached to the bid? Yes, it is(was) If the bid was accepted you would have been provided with his cell number. But it was a question, I was paged, but had no way to answer or contact number for you. And you also mentioned "high pressure" I answered that also in the bid reply. He was 2 miles from there about 1pmEST today, he is presently in Naples then over to Ft. Lauderdale for this evening then Orlando etc and heading back north. As you might have noticed also I have time stamped my responses, and they either have been early AM or later PM but over the weekend, I am home an able to rapidly respond. 5:04pmCST (5/21/2008)
Response: Jim, I understand you have constraints in how you operate, and I hope you realize your customers do as well. Your bid was made early this morning (let's just say around 7:30 AM), but I did not see it until AFTER 10:30 AM. The deadline was 11 AM. I responded IMMEDIATELY but received no reply. The uShip system apparently edits out "Email Addresses; Phone Numbers; and Other Contact Information" so when you said your driver's number was attached, it was not, in fact, visible to me. I MIGHT have accepted the bid had I been able to iron out the final details, as $825 is closer to what I was hoping to pay. But I have a quote from a company for about the same amount, except they are offering to construct CUSTOM CRATES, something I hoped we could avoid, in order to lower the cost. So again, my question is: where do we stand now? Are you able or willing to take on this job, or should I keep looking?? Thanks in advance... Richard (5/21/2008)
Response: Richard, thx for the prompt response this eve first of all. 2nd., As of tomorrow, and reading thru responses and my FIRST inception, I have told you the exact day of "today" 6 days ago he would be there is when I did mention. He and I (not I and he) just didn't have a timeframe of into the future, but when I did I did place the bid that was 2k below something that had happened after our communication, it had the window. And if you look back at the last 5/19 response and yours of 3 days later, "but" PRIOR it has been 3 days with "no news". I just called him about this now, as I rec'd your reply, and am "hunting" east coast of FLA for him now back thru Atlanta and points north, looking at (2) motorcyles that'll pay 1600.00 to Chicago (lessmiles) We both feel bad about being so close with what we offer, but please also understand as I know you're paying it at the pump..is that time is money, money is time...and fuels is $0.70/mile right now (smile) Who's really making any monies anymore? (5/21/2008)
Question: Hello, thx for the reply... "backfilling" => "Filling" the truck for the "Trip Back" to Wisconsin. :-)and => "full-logistics moving trailer" is meaning not a nickel-dime operation using a Dodge diesel pickup pulling a trailer, but a $150,000.00+ moving rig :-) Licsened, Insured and been in business (family owned) for 102 years. 6:46pmCST (5/15/2008)
Response: Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if we are totally on the same page yet, as I've not quite figured out what you are asking me! So if this is of any help: the speakers are ready to go. They are at the home of a stereo dealer, and so far, they have not been packed in any way. Your equipment sounds very impressive. MY questions are: what needs to be done to prepare the speakers for their trip; can I be absolutely assured they will arrive exactly as they were when they left; and in the unlikely event of some unforeseen disaster, will they be insured for their full ($6,000) value? (In other words, if there were, for example, some huge gouge in the wood, I don't want to find out that I'm only going to get a check for 50 bucks). I would also need to know what all this is going to cost, too! Hope this helps! (5/15/2008)
Response: OK, that answers one thing :-) Being at a dealer tells me 2 things 1) The odds of being on a first floor is good. 2) And that they need to be picked up during business hours... could you find out their hours please? As far as shipment prep, if they are screwed or bolted to the stands... thant would be needed to be done if at all possible. Please copy / paste this phrase and google it >> "moving blanket" "professional grade" << This is what each piece is wrapped in, we use only the heavier ones for security. You do NOT want to shrink wrap them on top of wrapping them, as this would create the possiblity of the sweating from humidity change from state to state. A full detailed inventory of each piece would be taken at location and MUST be signed off at origin by someone at the store of our findings. Upon arrival, you will get a copy of this inventory to check off. Yes, they will be insured for full value. Would need cross streets of pickup please to calculate location/mileage. 6:04am (5/16/2008)
Response: I think we're getting closer! Since he runs his business from his home, it's not actually a commercial location. He says he's on the first floor--no stairs. As for pick-up times, anytime would be OK with some advance notice. Zip is 34243; he's about 5 miles from I-75. As for the speakers themselves, they just sit on top of the stands (not bolted), so the speakers and stands would be packed separately. The stands are monsters--built like tanks. They'd only require protection from nicks and chips. The speakers themselves are very solid, but the grilles are more or less decorative, and would best be removed and packed separately. They'd need protection from crushing and punctures. The woofers & tweeters would also need protection from crushing and poking. And the wood, of course, needs to be protected from nicks & scratches. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.... (5/16/2008)
Response: Well, I guess we didn't get close enough. pm ES:T he'll be out of ypmCSTour area tomorrow. Have a great day~~ Jim C (5/20/2008)
Question: Hello. I don't offer insurance at this time but I will personally make sure that they are blanket wrapped for protection. They would be transported in a cargo van, strapped in place. I will do this for a total of $900 cash on delivery. Thanks! Andrew. (5/21/2008)
Response: Andrew, Thanks for your response. Two problems, though. First, these are very expensive speakers that would be essentially worthless if one or the other were damaged. As they are no longer manufactured, they cannot be sent back to the factory for repairs. They are not exactly delicate, but cosmetic damage, or functional damage to the woofers or tweeters would be a disaster! I'm sure you're very reliable and responsible, but insurance for the FULL REPLACEMENT VALUE ($6,000) is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL, whether it's through you, or through some third party. Second, the $900 is definitely too high. I've gotten quotes for substantially less that include not only making custom crates, but insurance as well. Let me know if you think we can work these two problems out. If not, thanks for your time and interest. Richard (5/21/2008)
Question: Hello Richard. I will research the insurance issue early tommorrow. The lowest I can go is $700. Will this work for you? Thanks! Andy. (5/21/2008)
Response: Andy, Thanks for your interest. I've accepted a bid from another provider, as they needed to have my response by this evening, and the insurance question was just a bit too "iffy" at this point for me to turn down their bid. I don't really do much shipping, but I'll keep you in mind if something should come up in the future. Thanks again.... Richard (5/21/2008)
Question: 7:12pm, He'd rather come back up I75 and is asking for me to hunt down what is back over there on this site newer than 3 days ago. As for cc? Either MO or cash is what he told me if to stay at the 825 as 2% goes to CC comp's and on the road, 0.05/gallon for cash is how it is played. Let me know. I'll nail down 2 bids one for CC one for cash. Thx again, PS... 7:15pmCST now, I'll be back on later....but I have a Malamute/Timberwolf that deserves some of my time also. (smile) jim 7:16pm PS.. as for "customers" You stated "flexible" both ends sir. We have described "verbatim" the route of travel. On another note? I spent 5 hours play tag, up here prior with a "newbie" to this site, just to watch him let the truck go by and then after all communications I have been up front with...the truck was 200 miles up the road out of FLA, just for him to say. "Can you have him come back" . Sorry, but all this not only comes from the heart, wallet.it comes from being in biz 102 year Jim (5/21/2008)
