Additional Information: Had a previous provider who placed a bid, I accepted, and now he is not responding to emails or phone calls!!! Now I am considering driving unless I can find an acceptable bid. "Socks" is blind but loves attention so I don't want to ship her as cargo thru the airlines. I would like her back in in CA by New Years so see "Socks Needs to Make CA for New Years" for additional request for bid. Thank you and Happy Holidays. Report a Violation

Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hi there! I can take your baby leaving the 21st or 22nd for $250. Please see my feedback and let me know if you have any questions. You provide his food, bowls, and a leash for walking/playing. We'll provide the bottled water and lovin's! Socks will ride in a climate controlled extended minivan (the seats fold into the floor) with plenty of room for stretching out and relaxing or sitting in the window and watching the scenery pass by. Thanks and if I don't get to talk to you soon, MERRY CHRISTMAS!! (12/17/2007)
Question: Hello I could pick up Wed morning and deliver for 365. Let me know. THX (12/17/2007)
Response: Hi, is that a one-way amount? (12/19/2007)
Response: I would not be able to get Socks back for New Years it would be around the 6th That I could return. I have to know today though. I will be leaving area around 4pm. THX (12/19/2007)
Response: Hi, Can you please outline your schedule so I can see if we could work something out? I won't be available past Dec 21st for her pickup in SD and she has to be picked up in ABQ by Dec 30th since someone on that end won't be available past that day. Just please give me an idea on your schedule and I'll see what I can do. Thanks. (12/19/2007)
Response: I can pick up in a few hours and deliver tomorrow. For the return trip I can pick up on Jan. 4th or 5th and deliver the next day. Let me know asap. THX (12/19/2007)
Response: Hi, unfortunately, that won't work as no one will be available in ABQ until Friday and after Dec 30th. I'm sorry it won't work out. Good luck on your trip and safe travels! (12/19/2007)
Question: So Socks is looking for round trip? I can take him to NM leaving 12/21 or 12/22 and returning before 12/30 for $450. Let me know if you're interested. You'd only have to deal with one shipper! Thanks! (12/19/2007)
Response: Hi, yes, I am looking for a roundtrip for Socks. However, I was hoping to spend no more than $300. Thank you. (12/19/2007)
Response: Okie dokey! Well thank you for your response and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Please don't hesitate to let me know if I can be of a help in the future. Thanks! (12/19/2007)
Question: OH! And don't forget to cancel your match with the other provider through uship so you can get your deposit back! (It's called a "match retraction".) (12/19/2007)
Response: Thank you for the advice! :) I have an email into uShip to find out what I should do. By any chance, are you willing to match the $300 or would you be able to compromise on an agreed amount? Would you be able to match the pickup and delivery dates? Thank you. (12/19/2007)
Response: I cannot go lower than $450 for round trip. I'm heading to DFW, TX for Christmas and have to go through San Antonio on my way in/out. Your baby's delivery and pick up in Alb. is off my route. We'd be happy to make the adjustment and get your little girl where she needs to go, but with gas prices being what they are and the fact that Alb. is several miles off our route, I can't lower the price. My dates are to pick up your little girl on the 21st (Friday afternoon) with delivery before the 23rd and then on return, pick up would be the 27th or 28th with a delivery before the 30th. (I have to be back in LA on the 30th for work.) (12/19/2007)
Response: Oh man! So close, but yet so far away! :) Thank you for your assistance and I will keep you in mind for the future! (12/19/2007)
Response: No problem! Just let me know if I can help in any other way. (Like navigating the uship cancellation process...lol.) (12/19/2007)
Response: Oh yeah! I just may need to do that. :) (12/19/2007)
Response: LOL...it won't let me respond anymore on the previous conversation. I think we talk too much...lol. I can update it with a specific pick up/delivery time frame for San Diego, but I don't have a specific drop off/pick up time in NM. That will depend on what time we leave both locations (Los Angeles and Dallas). Let me do that real quick. (12/20/2007)
Response: That's pretty funny. We've broken uShip! Did you get my response regarding other dogs? I am heading to bed, so I will get your response in the morning and we can continue to overload uShip then! :) (12/20/2007)
Response: Oh no! Not crate trained and doesn't get along with other doggies....hmmm...if we had more time, I would tell you to take her for rides in your car in the crate to get her used to it. I'm not worried about them fighting or anything because, like I said, Abbey has her own crate. On the trip back, though, she'd share the van with two other dogs out of crate (same family) for about an hour until we drop them off. Hmmm...lemme think... (12/20/2007)
Response: Sorry to waste your time. There was never any mention of other pets in the vehicle. I really don't know how she'd respond since I haven't been with her in a vehicle with other animals, but it appears that you already cancelled the bid. (12/20/2007)
Response: LOL....I cancelled the other bid without all the extra details as I was "cleaning up" my profile. My bid with all the pick up/delivery details is still down there. For the record, most people on here have more than one animal traveling, so it may not be feasible to get Socks on a trip, or especially a round trip, without having another four-legged friend along on at least one way. I apologize for the confusion. Let me know if you think of anything and I'll do the same. (12/20/2007)
Response: Would it be necessary to have her in a crate? When traveling with her in the past she usually just sits on the seat or in her bed. She doesn't usually move around. (12/20/2007)
Response: When we stop for gas, any babies we have out go into their crates as we're getting gas, using the restroom, etc. There's always someone in the van with the babies, but since we are in a minivan, the doors open pretty wide and we don't want to lose a baby because they got out. (We already had that scare once...with a BIG dog...LOL) If we don't have a crate for them, then we tie their leashes inside the van. We don't HAVE to have a crate for her, but I've already had another bid accepted where the two dogs on the way back don't have crates. So she'd be loose with two other dogs for about an hour without a crate. That's the part I'm mainly worried about if she doesn't get along with other babies. On the trip there, we have Abbey and we usually switch the babies out so each has time out of the crate, but Abbey rarely comes out, so I'm not that worried about her. Besides, your baby gets out in NM and we can let Abbey stay out after that. It's that one hour I'm worried about. (12/20/2007)
Response: Hi, did you get my message regarding a crate for Socks? Thank you. :) (12/20/2007)
Response: Sorry. Was out doing some last minute Christmas shopping. Yes, a crate would be best, just in case. I don't want anything to happen to my little friends on the trip and if she barks a bit, that's ok. I can deal with barking, but not hurting on either side...lol. I was just at Walgreens and was looking for the soft carriers they used to have for $25 but were sold out. I have to work this evening, but I will check with the other Walgreens near me on my way in. We have plenty of micro fleece blankets that we can use to lay in the bottom so she may not even realize that she can't get out!! (12/20/2007)
Response: Oh! I thought you may not have gotten the message since we've lost at least one before and you weren't able to respond to one of the responses before. lol What kind of carrier would you like for me to get for her? Would a soft-side be sufficient or do you need a hard "TSA" style with the hard-sides? (12/20/2007)
Response: The soft sides are the best as when you're finished with them, they fold up and can be put away...and nothing is going to packed on top of her...lol. ONE more thing and it should be a go. A little kink. I can still pick up tomorrow while my son is in school, however, we can't leave to head to TX now until Sat. afternoon. My son has a play at school that I thought was tomorrow night, but it's Sat afternoon. Let me know if that's a problem. That puts delivery on Sunday in NM instead of Saturday. (12/20/2007)
Response: That is not a problem at all! You take care of your son and his play. I'm just glad I don't have to put her in a kennel and I appreciate all the communication and accomodation you've done to make this possible! However, one last question (hopefully): If you're not delivering until Sunday how are you handling Socks and your pet at home until you're on the road with yours in a crate? We could be pleasantly surprised that they will get along, but just in case....??? :) (12/20/2007)
Response: Abbey will be joining us on Saturday. (12/20/2007)
Response: Of course. :) I was wondering about between tomorrow and Saturday when you hit the road; meaning, at your house. BTW, I bought a "pop up" kennel: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5192525 or at walmart seach for : SportPet Pop-Open Kennel. Hope this works. Is that okay? (12/20/2007)
Question: I might be able to take Socks for $370 total instead, if that helps. I'm waiting to hear back from another bid and that would make it worth it for me to make the extra trek to Alb. (12/19/2007)
Response: Is that a round-trip price? (12/19/2007)
Response: Yes ma'am! (12/19/2007)
Response: You previously mentioned that you'd have to deliver her back in SD on the 30th. I won't be back in SD until late that night. Thanks again, though. (12/19/2007)
Response: Well, I live in Los Angeles and she could hang out with my son and daughter until you get home or I get off of work- whichever comes later. (My kiddos are 11 and 8 and will have someone here with them.) Just trying to help. (12/19/2007)
Response: Right now my flight is landing in San Diego in the 7:00 pm hour. I probably wouldn't be able to make it to LA that night since I actually have to work on Monday. Would you be able to doggie sit until New Year's Day when I could drive up to LA to get her or how far South would you be willing to meet? THANK YOU for offering to help. My parents would be happy to know that I'm not driving to NM! :) (12/19/2007)
Response: Oh wait..the 30th is a Sunday, not a Monday...lol. I can have her there at 9pm on Sunday if that works for you. Maybe even we could meet you at the airport and we could give you a ride home!! (12/19/2007)
Response: Thank you for the offer to pick me up at the airport but my vehicle will already be there and I will be home by 9 pm. So, you would be able to have her in San Diego on Sunday, Dec 30th at 9pm (anytime after 8:30 pm to allow time to get home after airport)? Please confirm the following: 1. Pick up date/time in SD. 2. Drop off date/time in ABQ, NM. 3. Pick up date/time in ABQ, NM 4. Drop off date/time in San Diego, CA. Thank you for accomodating this and trying to make it work! (12/19/2007)
Response: Yes, I could bring her home then. I don't do much of anything on Sundays and a trip to San Diego is nothing compared to a trip back and forth to Texas! Pick up would be either Friday afternoon to early evening- around 6- I don't know. I'm trying to avoid traffic both in LA and San Diego, so we may leave a little later than that. She'd be in NM between 14 and 18 hours after pick up. So it will be next day after pick up, weather permitting. (I hate the ice and snow and tend to drive a little slower so that we're safe.) Then coming back, I can pick up in Alb. either the 27th or 28th (depending on when I leave DFW- most likely the afternoon of the 28th) and bring her to you on the 30th. (12/19/2007)
Response: I understand about the traffic on Friday afternoon. My flight is Friday evening at 7:30 pm so is there anyway you can come down earlier to account for the traffic and not cause pre-mature heart failure for missing flight? :) (12/19/2007)
Response: That's possible. My son gets out of school at 12:15 and we could leave about an hour later or so. That would put us to you around 3:15pm...oh yuck. But that's still traffic time. Perhaps I can just drive down and pick her up while my son is in school. Then we can leave straight from home. Taking the 10 across is not any different than taking the 8. I know LA a little better and can take other freeways around the 10 to avoid traffic. We'll figure it out and I'll get your baby with plenty of time for you to get to the airport...and hopefully during a time when I don't have to battle traffic on the 405...lol. (12/19/2007)
Response: Thank you for the bid. Although I am going to accept it, I would like to update it with more specifics from our email conversations: pickup times and delivery date/times. This will protect both of us. Are you okay with that? (12/20/2007)
Response: Yeah, I think while my son is in school would be best. I could leave here around 9:30 just as traffic lets up around here and be to you by noon (depending on what part of SD you're in). Then back up here by 2:30pm, just barely beating traffic. And yes. On the way there I have a female bulldog going with us who has her own crate as well. She is a repeat customer so I know her well and a VERY good girl. She's an old lady and prefers to stay in her crate. She loves ear scratches and giving kisses, but that's as far as it goes for the attention that she likes...lol. On the way back, I have several dogs to drop off just below you in Mountain View or Los Lunas(?), depending on the time of day. Abbey (the bull dog) was supposed to be going back, too, but she's staying in TX now, so I will take the northern route to you then head south to the 10 to get back to CA. (and miss most of the ice and snow!) (12/20/2007)
Response: Oh man! After all that, this could be an issue. Socks is not crate trained (at least that I am aware of) and she doesn't usually get along with other dogs (some are iffy, I think due to her eye condition). I don't know how she'd do in the car if there are other dogs and she's not in a crate...maybe some barking, but I am unsure as I have had her only about a year and haven't had her in a vehicle with other pets nor in a crate. Ideas? (12/20/2007)
Response: We have no pets of our own, so socks will spend the night with us. (12/20/2007)
Response: Okay, I guess I am confused. I thought Abbey is your pet and she'd be with you. However, I think we've covered everything. I bought the pop-up crate for Socks (or whoever) and hopefully everything will be okay. I have accepted your bid so please call me on your way tomorrow. (12/20/2007)
