Question: I can pick this up for you on Monday but I see you already said some prices are to high, can you tell me what you are looking to spend to ship your SCION? Dont forget the longer you wait the price will go up, Fuel prices are up around $3.65 per gallon and when you only get 10 or 11 mpg $500.00 wouldnt even pay fuel costs. Something to think about, so let me know what you are looking to spend and if I can do this for you I will. Thanks (11/10/2007)
Response: well i was thinking that 650 would be as high as i could go. but i don't know, all i do know is 900 is REALLY high. i'm new at this and i don't know what a fair price really is. i'm a chef and chefs don't know shipping. but i'm willing to haggle. (11/10/2007)
Response: Hey I understand about the Chef thing both of my kids are one also & sometimes they know nothing else but food. Just a thing to think about its about a 1000 mile with your Scion, in my case my truck gets 11 mpg so thats about 90 gallons of fuel @ $3.69 per gallon, so we are @ $332.00 just in fuel, then its about a 18 hour drive IF YOU DO IT LEGALLY WHICH I HAVE TO since I have my Dot & MC Numbers and have to LOG my hours of service for the FMCSA, then there is the Insurance that I have to have BEING a LEGAL TRANSPORTER @ the tune of $6000.00 PLUS a year. Wear & Tear on Truck & Trailer, tolls on the east coast which are high when you have 5 axles, and normal living expenses while on the road. So to be honest I would make about $300.00 PROFIT on your transport, it might sound like a lot but its really not if you divide that with the 18 hours driving time which works out to a little over $15.00 per hour, so thats why I bid it for the price I did, I might do a little less but not much. Question: One last thing , do you see the price that DAS has for you as a ship it now, they are one of the cheapest & largest Transportation Companys in the Country. If you look up there site DAS AUTOSHIPPERS you can put in your zip codes and see for yourself what it would cost to ship your car from a LARGE COMPANY, you wont get the type of service that I can do for you and you might have to drive to drop it off or pick it up because they charge EXTRA for DOOR to DOOR which I dont, sorry for ranting on but check them out and you will get an idea how much it cost to ship things all over the country. I did there estimator with your zip codes and it cam out to $1100.00 and then if you want it enclosed its another $400.00 and thats the type of trailer I use. Response: i understand that you'd only be making 300 or so off of me, but if there is one thing i do know it's breaking down the cost of working. now if you were to factor in all OTHER possable trips on the way to drop off my perticular car (if you JUST drove my car to its destination alone you'd be a madman) and i'm gonna stay with 300 profit here times the number of other cars on the move and you've got yourself a chunk of change depending on how far and how many. so, the cost of moving it then becomes alittle more "flexable" to me. i'll go up to 750 but i can't budge from there unless i can't find ANYBODY else up to what you offered. but i do have several bids from 550 to 650 or so. i do like your honesty and hope we can do business though. Response: You are right about anyone just doing one car, I can do only two so thats why I price it the way I do, I am not getting rich by any means but I am not on food stamps either. If you can do the $750 I will do this for you but lets wait and see if you find anyone cheaper, I am not one to pressure anyone into anything, NOT GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE. When you get time go read the USHIP MESSAGE BOARDS and you will see what some people are going through, something I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy. Question: I do see that you had those bids for the $550 and the other you talked about, but I also see you asked a few questions of those TSp's about Insurance and they canceled there bids, now what does that tell you? I am sure you know, in my bid Insurance is included for NO EXTRA cost to you, I am required to have it by the FMCSA and I will even have my Insurance agent fax you a copy of my insurance coverage with you named on it to prove coverage, all Insurance companys do this as its a free service and you should ask whom ever you use to provide one for you before they pickup your Scion.
