Additional Information:
Trailer may require flatbed for this move since condition of bearings/brakes is uncertain. Other items involved in move: Dockbox, Plastic Tool Box, 12' aluminum extension ladder and small folding aluminum dock cart. Sheriff may need to be present during pickup. If necessary, letter approving pick up and proof of ownership will be faxed to sheriff in advance with copy of letter to transporter. Owner may or may not be present, but requests ride with you to San Diego if he is. Note: Route map incorrectly shows pickup site. It is South of Hwy. 50 near Latrobe Rd and Shingle Springs Rd... Reason owner may or may not be there is because I am in Galveston, Tx. - not real convenient to run over to Sacto. in order to coordinate...
Questions for this shipment:
Question:
This is just the trailer, not the boat right? Thanks,Jim Alttrans (5/10/2006)
Response:
Jim, Yes, it is just the trailer. (5/10/2006)
Question:
If your trailer can be made road worthy I can get this done for you. Trailer not that heavy. Brakes no, good tires & bearings. (5/11/2006)
Response:
Confused by "Brakes no, good tires and bearings." Do you mean no brakes is o.k. but there must be good tires and bearings? I don't know if the bearings are o.k. or not because the trailer was in salt water nearly 7 years ago, and I don't believe there was a hose available to flush it adequately before being left where it is now. Also, one of the wheels on left locked when I parked it - suggesting the brake may be stuck. Probably will require removal of the wheel to at least inspect, and I don't want to get into a situation paying extra for this kind of involvement by a transporter. (5/11/2006)
Question:
Thank you, I understand (5/12/2006)
Response:
Also, I am in Galveston, Tx. making it very impractical for me to travel to Sacto. to make trailer road worthy. (5/12/2006)
Question:
Hi! I got a pickup truck with plenty of power. I deliver small boats for 90 cents a mile but in this case I will do it for 325. Thanks. (5/15/2006)
Response:
You realize don't you that it is highly probable that the trailer cannot be towed. Please read my ad carefully and my answers to other transporters above... (5/15/2006)
Question:
Would you be interested in loaning the trailer out? Would deliver for fuel cost(approx,$150.00) if that is OK. Have a sail boat in Long beach that would like to get to Texas coast. Also how heavy is your sail boat? Thanks,Jim Alttrans (5/16/2006)
Response:
Are you willing to foot the bill - roughly $500 to make the trailer roadworthy? If so, you will have to do so somewhere different from where the trailer is stored now. Can you show you have insurance necessary to replace or repair my trailer if stolen or damaged? I would of course more interested in working out some arrangement for you to use the trailer to move someone else's sailboat AFTER you have moved MINE. Also, you would have to show the other boat is not too large for my trailer and that I would incur no liability were that boat damanged while being towed on my trailer - even if it is the fault of some failure related to my trailer. Address these issues then we can talk about what you will need to PAY ME to use my trailer. (5/16/2006)
Question:
Sailboat is mine, and is smaller then yours. $150.00 fuel to deliver to you on open trailer, you buy parts for trailer, my labor free, for use. Thanks (5/16/2006)
Response:
Your needs and mine are incompatible. (5/16/2006)
Question:
No problem, thanks. Jim (5/16/2006)
Response:
The only way I see that would be fair to me is if you paid for parts, did the repair gratis and hauled the trailer to S.D. gratis since after all, you'd need to take the trailer there anyway to move your boat. Is there any way for you to do it and spend less? (5/16/2006)
Question:
Good Morning ~ I will be in Sacramento this weekend and would like to ask your permission to inspect your trailer. Would transport (tow) your trailer and misc. items for your target price should your trailer be road worthy. If not, you can be most definate in requesting your trailer must be transported by flat bed. No charge to you for the inspection. You are most welcome to review my feedback. Thank you for your consideration. ~ Dee (5/17/2006)
Response:
Your offer to inspect the trailer is welcome, but this weekend is too soon because I am sailing to Orange, Tx. from Galveston this afternoon. I won't have time to contact my sister who must agree to this first. The trailer is on her property and she does not want anyone there without her being present. She does not answer her emails promptly and is abrupt on the phone. To say the least, it is difficult to organize anything around her. I'll message you after I get to Orange and have had an opportunity to hopefully contact her. To tell the truth, I don't believe I am going to be able to get my trailer without the sheriff being involved - and I do not owe her any money for keeping the trailer at her place... (5/17/2006)
Question:
Your Sister sounds like my brother! Maybe they got switched at birth! No pressure here, when/if/should you wish me to inspect and tow would be most happy to accomodate. Your sister won't ruffle my feathers. Sorry she thinks she needs to be so stinky. Enjoy your sail. My best ~ Dee (5/17/2006)
Response:
Dee, In order to make sure this proceeds properly, I think you should bid on the target amount, contingent upon the trailer being "towable". I'm not real anxious to provide the location of my trailer to people I don't know, without having a contract agreement in advance. Also, do you know of someplace in S.D. where I can work on the trailer without having to pay someone for the right to do so - or risk hassles with the police? Lastly, I may need to have the trailer towed to Orange, Texas if I am unable to find a "one-way" vehicle rental once I have renewed my driver's license and the trailer reg is current. Interested? I will only be checking for messages 2X/week now. I am having to pay for internet access... (5/17/2006)
Question:
The price of 6730 was a tipe o 673. was the rite price (5/22/2006)
Response:
$673 for what? From where to where? Towed or carried? (5/22/2006)
Question:
To be towed from Latrobe to San Diego. Just wanted to know if the trailer was road worthy. (5/23/2006)
Response:
Oh. I imagined for what you were asking you were bidding to take the trailer to Galveston. Thanks, but no thanks. (5/23/2006)
Question:
Hi my name is Nate and I can most likly make this trip for you. For 400 If the tires are holding air now. The brakes will not be needed. I can bring lites for trailer if they dont work and take off when trip complete. I will make a bid of 400 and make all arangments with you if interested. If beerings are bad when I get there what would you like me to do, posibly fix(I wouldnt do work) or just not do the move it is up to you. I will be bringing a camper to this area around 6-4. This is trailer only no boat. Thank you Nate (5/29/2006)
Response:
Nate. Long weekend and no access to UShip. No matter since you apparently cancelled 'cause you cannot/will not let me ride with you to S.D.. What is the concern? Where will you be putting your trailer? What does your insurance cover? Licensed to satisfy legal requirements for commercial transport? If so, lets talk. svarmido (5/29/2006)
Question:
Its Nate again. I would not be able to give ride to someone with it. Sorry. Nate (5/29/2006)
Response:
Answered in last post. (5/29/2006)
Question:
The reason we cannot accomodate another traveler, is because our suv is already full. And We were confirmed on a shipment to Denver, CO before we were confirmend on your shipment sir. I am very sorry that we are not able to help you with this shipment. (5/30/2006)
Response:
Will you be returning to the Sacto. area after your Colorado shipment? If so, I may be interested in scheduling the move for after your return. svarmido (5/30/2006)
Question:
Sounds like you have a mini-series going on here. So lets thicken the plot! I can put this inside my enclosed, and the demensions are very close to fitting, but an accurate size will determine this. That way you are worry free about your bearings, and potential axel damage. And you can ride along as well. So this is your best offer, but worth more than your other offers. Wha would you be able to budget out for this? Assuming I can make it fit. Which I'm pretty confident it will, so long as it is not wider than 96". Let me know. Thanks (5/31/2006)
Response:
Ideally, the trailer will go directly from Sacramento to Orange, Texas. If you are available to do this let me know. Would you also be interested in towing my boat back to San Diego? (5/31/2006)
Question:
Well, I was only planning on the Ca. run, if it is doable. Your new request is ALOT of miles, and if the price is good, and I can find a return load, it is a possibilty. With the price of diesel now, I would need $1.25 a loaded mile. And if I have to dead head back, I would need .75 cents a mile. I am in the process of trying to move, so the timing may be an issue. Let me know your thoughts! (6/1/2006)
Response:
If you know of or have a place I can do repairs myself, then a move in your trailer (if necessary) to that location will enable me to do whatever needs doing. Then you can tow the trailer to Orange and tow my sailboat on my trailer to S.D.. Over several years, I pulled the boat/trailer +- 12,000 miles behind my Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel (3/4 ton). Gross weight for both is roughly 10,000 lbs. My trailer bearings and brakes may be o.k., but I'll still want to remove the wheels and drums for a visual inspection and repack the bearings before leaving for Orange. If the brakes/drums are rusted and inoperable then I'll have that additional expense @ roughly $500 to $800 for the whole enchilada - turn drums, brake backing plates, seals and bearings. Due to the extra cost for getting to Sacto. (Greyhound or by air) $1/loaded mile round trip is over budget for me, and I'll have to find more $. I am pretty flexible re: time, but would definitely want boat in S.D. by end of July. (6/1/2006)
Question:
This has got to be a headache. Just a suggestion: Have a driver pull trailer to nearest brake garage (MIDUS) or something along that line to check out trailer hubs. It would save you the cash of getting up to SAC. and you know it was looked at proper for transport. Rose Pack Cleburne, TX (6/5/2006)
Response:
Answered in next reply. (6/5/2006)
Question:
My husband is dropping a shipment in Cloverdale, CA (north of Sac. ) this evening.6/5/06.If he can be of assistance? We live in Texas and I havent found him a load out as of yet. Thank You, Rose Pack (6/5/2006)
Response:
Rose. Thanks for your suggestions. The big question is - "what is the condition of the bearings and brakes?" It may not be cause for concern, yet on the other hand it may be. Let me know what your expectations are regarding cost for towing my trailer to Texas. You haven't said where you are located in Texas. Near Orange? If your husband can stop at my sister's to at least hitch up to the trailer and move it forward far enough to determine whether the wheels turn or not (need at minimum two on the same axle), it will be a huge step in the right direction. Please bid, assuming the trailer can be towed - then we'll go from there. Stopping at a midas to have everything checked is good. No brakes necessary for move though if o.k. with you. I will not be able to check for your reply for a couple of hours. Using college computer & I am not a student. Don't want to get 86'd... Will check about 3 p.m.. No response from you at 4:20 p.m.. Will check in morning. (6/5/2006)
Question:
Hello again, Talk to driver and he said he would pull your trailer out and see if all is turning properly. He could then take to check bearings. Brakes would be a nessesity for a return trip with large weight. Then transport trailer to your point in Texas for $1400 COD. Now, he would need to return home for a few days. Then he stated he could also transport your boat and yourself to San Deigo for $2000. let me know. Thank You, Rose Pack Cleburne, TX rpack41 (6/5/2006)
Response:
Rose. Good morning. Please submit a formal bid on both my shipment items. Then we can proceed to tie up loose ends and hopefully get this done. Please state clearly the bid prices are full price with no other contingencies. I will want to do the brakes myself, and if on examination it appears existing bearings on opposing wheels of one axle can be relied upon to move the trailer to Orange, I prefer doing the bearing jobs myself as well. My budget is tight as is. As soon as you submit a formal bid on both the trailer and the boat you will have my phone number so we can communicate on short notice and discuss details of findings re: condition of components on inspection and what is possible. Thanks. (6/5/2006)
Question:
Good Morning, OK . I will make formal bid. Do you think the tires are in good enough shape to make this trip? Rose Pack (6/6/2006)
Response:
Rose. Last word I had about the trailer and tires is they looked good. That was a year ago. Considering the trailer had already been sitting for 6 years, I can't imagine them being worse off after only one more year. Wish I had a more helpful sister. Asked her for pics at the time. Nada. One more issue. The reg. on the trlr. is not current. But, will mail payment to registration service I use today. That is usually sufficient to satisfy the law. Will have new license and reg. mailed to me here in Orange so they are ready for trip back. Current license plate is for California. Replacement will be the same. I have emailed my sis telling her to phone me and that your husband will probably want to move today. Don't need complications. (6/6/2006)
Question:
If the trailer can not be moved. I have no way to transport the boat. So, yes all will be retracted. Thank You, Rose Pack Cleburne, TX (6/6/2006)
Response:
