Hi. Thanks for bidding. Here is the situation. Tico is a retiring MWD. He has been in Japan. My son was his last handler (Airforce) My son is currently deployed in middle east and we are going to care for Tico until he returns. Tico is arriving in Las Vegas May 5th. He is coming over with another handler coming home on leave. He will have a crate and lease and of course all proper paperwork (as he is coming into USA). If needed a harness we could come up with one. Are you not able to pick him up until the 10th or so? If not we might be able to work something out as my brother lives a few blocks from the airport in Vegas and might be able to keep him until then. Your price is very good and I like that your profile has so many positive response. I hope we can work something out. Thanks. Joe
I happen to Live in Las Vegas. Right now I have been working up at my kids place in Pahrump, NV. If needed, I could look after Tico, but I would have to know how he gets along with other dogs. I have an old lab and a bunch of small dogs including Poms. Also I do have a couple of mini horses and goats in the back yard as well. I have transported many pets for the military over the years. I am familiar with some of the rules regarding coming on bases. Having a Retired Military dog is an "honor" to have and enjoy. Let me know if it is Nellis Air Force Base or the main airport in Vegas. I do live in the southwest part of Vegas. Let me know. Thank you.
Thanks for your response. I have sent a message to my son asking how Tico is around other dogs. Also sent a message confirming his arrival. I believe it's Monday at 2:42 pm into the LAS airport, not Nellis. The handler bringing him back is flying commercial. He is coming home on leave. I do know Tico has two meds given twice a day 1 hour before he eats (the reason he has to retire from military). Confirming meds and food will be with Tico when he arrives. Also confirming the kennel, leash, harness etc. FYI from copy of paperwork I see Tico is 8 years old. He was used as a drug dog in the military and according to my son is not high strung. This is the info I have so far. I will forward on other info once it's confirmed. Once we have all the facts, if you are comfortable with it, I will accept the bid. I just want to make sure I have all info for you before I accept it so you feel comfortable with it. Thanks for your help and love towards a four legged soldier.
Good. I'll wait for your additional info. FYI, I'd prefer a harness, rather than a collar. Collars can slip off if they're too loose, and can strangle a dog if they're too tight. On some dogs, it's nearly impossible to have a collar that fits "just right" - neither too loose or too tight. In my opinion, harnesses are much safer for dogs.
Good morning! I think we are about to get this nailed down. After talking to my son and the guy bringing Tico over I've arranged to have my brother meet him and Tico at the airport and we are going to board Tico at my brother's vet (near Eastern and Warm Springs Road) until you are ready to transport him to NM. They feel he would be fine around your animals but want to make it easier for you and not have to worry about your animals. What day do you expect to pick Tico up to bring him to NM. Is NM your final stop or are you going on to somewhere else? Thanks for hanging there with me while we figured this out. Thanks. Joe
That's not far from our house. We'd pick up Tico on Monday, May 12th. From Las Vegas, we have another dog p/u in Tucson, AZ *ON* May 13th, and will then head to you in Albuquerque, before continuing on to Kansas City, 3 different stops in SW'n MO & NW'n AR, before heading to Tallahassee, FL, Clarksville, TN, 2 locations in KY, then PA & NY, and then to ME and to our daughter's house in Northern NH. I'll be departing NH around the end of May and head back to Las Vegas, arriving sometime between June 10th and 13th.
Hi. Tico made it to Vegas safe and sound. He got to ride in the cabin with the handler and not down in cargo. The handler took him home to stay with him rather than board him at the Vet. I am not sure where in Vegas he lives etc but we can work out the details to get Tico to you. Assuming things are for your end are ok and on for Monday I will go ahead and accept the bid and pay for it. Just confirm we are good to go for Monday. Thanks.
Everything is good to go for Monday. We live on the South side of LV, near I-15 and Blue Diamond exit. Once you accept the bid, I can give you our exact address, and you can give me the handler's address.
