Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hi! Do you still need this moved? I will be in the NY area next week. Is it a 3 piece slate? How many pieces all together? Thanks Todd (1/20/2007)
Question: Just realized, it is a one piece slate. Will there be anyone to help with loading/unloading? (1/20/2007)
Response: Table is going to my son's frat at Vanderbilt Univ. in Nashville - he can have as many guys as needed for unloading. With an approx date and time, I can do same for pickup. Right now table has had legs removed and is otherwise intact. I don't know if it can be more dismantled but if I need to do more, crate it etc. I can have it done before pickup. I don't really have experience with this kind of thing but happy to accomodate whatever is needed. Pickup is in Scarsdale NY about 30 minutes north of George Washington Bridge (1/20/2007)
Question: Thank you for the quick response. Normally you can take a part the side rails(bumpers), that way you don't damage them. Also usually you tear apart the felt and the slate will be in 2 or 3 pieces. My pool table breaks down to a 2 piece slate. As soon as I can get a set schedule, I will let you know when I can pick up this item.If the pool table is fully broken down, I can handle it by myself. If not, I would need at least two other men to help. I have a liftgate on my truck, so getting it on the truck would be no problem. My fee would be $400. Let me know what you think about the table(disassembly), Thanks Todd (1/20/2007)
Response: Thanks Todd. I don't live at the location of the pool table but am headed up there today or tomorrow and will try to assess whether it can be further dismantled. Also, does it need to be crated or protected in any way? Do you think you'll be in the area before Feb 1? The fee seems fine and if it's a little more difficult I'd be ok talking about a little more. I really want my son to be able to have the table. (1/20/2007)
Question: Yes, I will be in the Ny area in the middle of next week and delivery would be within 7days. Pool table will be pad wrapped and shrink wrapped, so no crate will be necessary. If you could let me know if there is a big hill from the basement up to the driveway or is it flat. Is it all gravel or grass? Just trying to get an idea of what Iam up against. I will wait to hear back from you, Thanks Todd (1/20/2007)
Response: Todd, I'm going to see if I can arrange to have it completely disassembled beginning of the week. If so, should I have them wrap it? there are two ways to get out of the house from the basement. Up one set of stairs (5 up to landing u-turn and up about another 10 to first floor, then up another 4 to front door inside landing. then about 10' of deck to a halfstep up onto the driveway. OR from main room of basement through short hall, left turn into a exercise bedroom which should be pretty empty out a door. I don't remember and will check tomorrow - there may be 3 or 4 steps up to grass at the back of the house around the house (on grass) about 80 feet the last half of which is at about a 20 degree angle, and then you're on the driveway. Hope this makes sense. I'll be at the house tomorrow and will confirm all of this. I will try to be there to help and there is a male housekeeper who can help too, If u need more help I know some of the neighborhood kids are around. (1/21/2007)
Question: Yes, everything makes sense. Thank you for the info. You should be able to find a professional to disassemble the table for around $300. Same with re-assembly. I will wrap the table/parts myself so no need for someone else to do it. I will wait to hear back from you. Thanks todd (1/21/2007)
Response: spoke to someone today and will have an answer tomorrow afternoon whether they can do the NY disassembly within the next couple of days. I'll let you know as soon as I hear. Also, I learned that total weight is more like 900-1000 lbs. Alan (1/21/2007)
Question: Ok, sounds good. (1/21/2007)
Response: Hi Todd. The pool table will be disassembled either tomorrow (tues) or Wednesday of this week. I think that Some wrapping is included in the cost. Should I have them do whatever it is they do in that regard and then you can enhance it if you don't think it's adequate, or should I have them just take it apart and leave it? What is the range of dates that you think you might be able to pick it up? Thanks. aK (1/22/2007)
Question: That sounds good. I will know my schedule, sometime tomorrow. I will let you know as soon as I can. If they don't charge for the extra wrapping, go ahead and let them do it. Thanks Todd (1/22/2007)
Response: Todd, the pool table will be disassembled between 10am and noon on Thursday Jan 25. They will wrap the pieces if I pay for the shipping Blankets or go out and buy them and have them there when the guys arrive. I don't mind doing that if it's easier for you but happy to have you use yours if that's ok. You tell me how you want to do it. Also, when you tell me about when you're arriving, I'll try to have one of my son's college football player type friends to help out. Also thought I should mention that the house is at the end of a dead end so you'll have to turn around before or after loading the table. Is there any other info you need from me? Thanks, Alan. (1/23/2007)
Question: Alan, I just got my schedule. Unfortunately, my load in NYC cancelled. I am off to Boston tomorrow and then Rochester, NY, Thursday morning. At this time I am not going to be able to load the table. I am so sorry for any inconveinence. There is a slight chance that after Rochester, they may send me down to the NYC. I don't know if that gives you enough time to cancel the disassembly crew or not. I know you wanted to get the table out by Feb. 1st, but I do go to NYC at least once a month and maybe I could get it on my next trip. If you do still get the table disassembled, don't pay for the extra wrapping(pads), it's not worth it. I will let you know for sure on Thursday afternoon, if Iam heading down to NYC. Once again Iam sorry for all this, Todd (1/23/2007)
Response: Todd, that's a major disappointment.Dont even want to tell my son until I know we can't work it out for sure. At this point I think it's too late to stop dismantling -its likely I'll have to find another shipping solution that will require it to be done anyway. I guess there's a possibility that I could try to store it until you can make it here. Time is not so much an issue of when it gets delivered as it's when it's picked up. A couple of questions. Not sure where you're based but is it possible you could pick it up before 2/1 if you had more time to bring it to Nashville -maybe as much as 3 weeks?-maybe more or Do you possibly know anyone else who might be able to do it? If I had other items for pick up from the same house for delivery in another part of NY state, would b more worth your time etc? 2 options I'd rather not do are try to store the parts elsewhere until you could pick them up - or maybe rent a small truck and drive it myself. Let me know what you think. aK (1/24/2007)
Question: Alan, Iam based out of Dallas, TX and most likely, won't be back before Feb. 1st. It's not about delivery time or money, just that boss has re-routed me due to the cancellation of the NYC job. You can always request bid's from other driver's on this website. Here are few that might be able to help you... Toolman, Ike, Lakerats, Bestratemoving. These four work on the east coast. You can search and request a bid from them on the Uship homepage. My Boston trip turned out to be larger then expected, so I know I can't do the pool table for you. Worse case scenario, with pool table disassebled, you should be able to move it in a full size pick up truck, to a storage facility vs. renting a truck. If there is anything else I can do to help, please let me know, Todd (1/24/2007)
Question: Alan, I just got my new schedule and it looks like I will be in the NYC area on Thursday the 31st. Let me know if you still need this done. I didn't think there was anyway I would be back up there that soon. Thanks Todd (1/27/2007)
Response: Todd. Absolutely still need it done. Pool table is now disassembled with much of it in cartons. Three pieces of slate remain to be wrapped and possibly the table curtains, plus the accessories (cues chalk, triangle etc). Thursday would be absolutely fine. and as I said in my earlier message, delivery date is flexible. let me know. Alan. (1/27/2007)
Question: Alan, I will place my bid on Monday afternoon. I may be able to load on Wednesday afternoon. I am waiting for my boss to give me my schedule so I can fit you in. Thank you so much for your patience. For delivery, Iam trying to make it to Knoxville, TN for the superbowl and then would be in Nashville the next day. Thanks Todd (1/28/2007)
Response: Sounds good Todd. Whenever you get here is fine so long as it's before Sunday. Wed or thursday are good and I will meet you at the pickup location. I think the only thing that remains to be done is packing the playing equipment - balls, cues etc. and wrapping the slate. My son will be thrilled to have it in Nashville. I'm going to be bringing some other items from the house to upstate NY tomorrow (monday) and won't be back until very late monday night - so you may not have a response from me on the bid until tuesday morning - but plan on doing this. Thanks. I'm glad the stars lined up to coordinate this. By the way, I can give you accurate directions when we get closer to the pickup date. aK (1/29/2007)
Question: Alan, I just got my schedule. I have 4 stops in the Bronx on Thursday and 1 stop in Portchester NY which is the last exit on I95 before CT. Then I can come back to load the table. It should be sometime in the late afternoon/evening. I can keep in contact with you on Thursday to give you a better timeframe. With all these stops and traffic, I can't give you a 2hr window, like I normally like to do. So hopefully you can bear with me on that. For the delivery, dates are still up in the air. It should be no later then 7-10days. Iam still hoping it will be on Monday but you never know what my boss is going to do. If these terms are all acceptable to you, then go ahead and accept my bid. Thanks Todd (1/29/2007)
