Most everything else will be in boxes. Engine will be mounted to a standard pallet. The loading should take about two to three hours. Question: (10/27/2009)
Response: Hi, This is my first post at Uship. I did not realize that Uship took such a large percentage. Unfortunetly there are very few resources out there for the novice once in a blue moon shipper. Lou (10/27/2009)
Response: i have the right truck its like the right tool for the job with no hassle thank you steven... (10/27/2009)

Question: Hi, Can you give me rough dimensions on the fuselage, or the type of aircraft it belongs to. Dave (10/27/2009)
Response: Hi, The fuselage is about 18 feet long and around 3 feet wide and tapers at the rudder end. The wing is about 5 feet wide and 17' Long. The plan was place the wing on edge along the side wall. It's a 1939 Piper Cub. Nearly everything is bolted to the fuselage. [email address removed NOTE: Once a bid is accepted, both parties’ contact info will be exchanged. – uShip] Thanks, Lou (10/27/2009)
Response: Hi Lou, Thanks for the reply. Any idea on the weight of the fuselage. When you say everything is attached, do you mean seats, rudder pedals, rigging etc. What about the landing gear and tail feathers? Dave (10/27/2009)
Response: Hi, Good question. I saw that and realized how that might be misinterpreted. There is nothing attached, Everything has been removed that is removable. I have a picture of the fuse in the 2nd photo. Probably weighs 100 pounds. Lou (10/27/2009)
Response: Hi Lou, other than the engine are there any other items than those that are shown in the photos? I live reasonably close to PYM and would like to do this move for you. I could do it for $1600, but would require being an active participant in the loading process. If that works, let me know and I will bid. Dave (10/27/2009)
Response: There are two ailerons and the aluminum nose cowls and various othe light weight bits and pieces. It should all be boxed or wrapped in cardboard. By all means you can participate in the loading. (10/27/2009)
Question: this will be my second rebid hope you can detail what changes you are going to make ..need to know a.s.a.p, as my schedule is filling fast...Jim (10/27/2009)
Response: Hi, I'm not real sure how all of this works being the first time I've used this service. I was under the impression I was supposed to wait out the duration of the bid process and pick the one I'm comfortable with. I'll do some more reading and see what I'm doing wrong. I've already been red flagged once so I'm trying to tread lightly. Lou (10/27/2009)
Response: if you would like to have me dod the haul just hit accept by my name rdking625 and the info will be exchanged and we will get the plane to you...Jim (10/27/2009)
Question: also, you were red flagged for leaving contact info .. that info is not aloud until bid is accepted.. (10/27/2009)
Response: Hi, I was looking at your photo's. I am assuming you were going to use one of your enclosed trailers. Which one is your enclosed trailer ? The weight for everything is about 780 lbs. Thanks, Lou (11/6/2009)
Response: Lou,I own a 28x81/2 ft enclosed trailer that I use for shipments such as yours.Jim (11/6/2009)
Question: I have a single car trailer we can strap the body to and the boxes can be loaded into my pickup, if you think that will work I will do it for 1200 bucks. jim (10/27/2009)
Response: Hi Jim, I would prefer an enclosed truck that has at least an 8' x 18' space. There is an engine on a palate that needs to be hauled. I don't think you have enough room for everything. Thanks for your interest. Lou (10/27/2009)
Question: hello i can do the job the first of next week thank you steven (10/27/2009)
Question: Hello, towards the end you said, you now prefer an enclosed trailer. Is this what your looking for? Being its going to a residential area, are 18 wheelers allowed? Or, does the truck run the risk of a fine? Thanks. (10/27/2009)
Response: I have never seen an 18 wheeler come down this street. You would take up 90% of the width of the RoW which means you would have to park on the street. The power lines are probably 14' off the ground which cross the street. No sidewalks. As a matter of fact I've never seen an 18 wheeler on any street my street inersects with. This is a small truck area 10 wheeler max. You would probably have to unload at a loading dock. (10/27/2009)
Response: Okay, Thanks for getting back to us. (10/28/2009)
Question: hello this is steve from cape cod the price i gave you inclueds helping you load and unload the price i gave is very fair the cost of fuel tolls for that size truck and i have to pay fuel taxes i have a ifta sticker i have to pay every 3 months it adds up ect- thank you steve (10/28/2009)
Question: We are leaving our home in NH with our large enclosed cargo trailer (8'x22') and heading to Tampa/Sarasota this Saturday. We have placed a very reasonable bid. We are new to uship, but please see our excellent reviews. We are local New England and would love to handle this shipment for you, but we need to know quickly, as we are setting the load right now for the weekend. We guarantee the highest quality and personal care for your plane. (Arbie's Team) (10/28/2009)
Response: Hi, I need to wait until the latter part of November to ship everything. The person assisting me in MA. will not have everything packaged until then. Thank you for your interest. Lou (10/28/2009)
Response: Hi Lou. If you could give us an approx. timeframe we would really like to work our loads around you so that we can perform this shipment. We can be flexible, as we go from our permanent home in New Hampshire down to our vacation home in Florida quite often all winter long. The only time we would not be traveling is right through Thanksgiving or Christmas. Other than that, we would really like to lock you in and also you would have the peace of mind knowing that shipment was all set when you are ready. Please let us know your thoughts on this. (Arbie's Team) (10/28/2009)
Response: I anticipate that everything will be packaged and ready to be shipped by the end of November. I am looking for an empty truck coming back to the Tampa Bay Area and needs to haul something and make a few bucks in the process. I need 18' of length or about 1000 cubic feet of space and the weight is 1000 pounds. (10/28/2009)
Response: That is fine with us. We could schedule you during the week after Thanksgiving if that works. Naturally, we would give you the entire truck. It is fairly rare to find someone "accidentally" empty going south at this time of year though. Therefore, you would have to reserve the truck, as we would like to do for you. For this particular shipment, our price is very reasonable. We would like to confirm this rather quickly, however, so that we know when the trip is being made and can schedule loads back up north in early December. (Arbie's Team) (10/28/2009)
Question: One more thing from Arbie's Team. This price will include all the assistance you need at the airport and in Tampa for loading and unloading. We hope to hear from you as quickly as possible so that we can commit to this shipment. (Arbie's Team) (10/28/2009)
Response: Hi, Can you describe or post a picture of the equipment you proposing to use to haul my shipment. Thanks, Lou (11/6/2009)
Response: Certainly. I will put at picture in our profile in just a moment. We currently use a 2500 Diesel truck and have a mint condition 22' locked and enclosed cargo trailer. We are adding another truch and trailer to the fleet in December or January. We keep things on a smaller scale as we cater to the discriminating individual who doesn't want their items jumbled around with other vehicles, etc., where damage can occur. We keep the trailer locked and check the contents frequently during each run. The truck and trailer are in FL right now picking up a very expensive classic Mercedes coming part way up the coast and then picking up an older mint condition Fiat Spyder. People use are services because of the care we give classic and unusual items. We would love to be of service to you. (Arbie's Team) (11/6/2009)
Question: Hi Lou, JIm (rdking625) wndering if you understood when i told you to accept my bid and then we would get contact info to talk and I can pick-up your plane by saturday saving you storage for next month..Please get back to me or just accept and I will call you...Jim (10/28/2009)
Response: Hi, I'm going to have to wait until the end of November to have everything shipped. That's why I posted this ad early so the shipper could make arragements in advance. Lou (10/28/2009)
Response: just a reminder , loading is not a problem as we can help or do this ..but feel free to accept bid so you don't have to worry about that part of your shipment..Jim (10/28/2009)
Question: you know this trip is 1400 miles we have to make plans very soon here i gave you a fair price 2100.00 i dive a truck for a liveing peaple like me who own there own truck 33000,gvw and over were not week end warriors owner operaters know what there doing thank you steven (10/28/2009)
Response: Hi Steven, I can't do anything at this time. It would have to be at the end of November. Thanks for your interest. Lou (10/28/2009)
Response: hello thats ok i just hope you would take my bid towards the end of nov is fine thank you syteve... (10/28/2009)
Question: hello are you still on planing to have this plane shipped to fl thank you steve.. (11/2/2009)
Response: Hello, Yes I am. I'm looking at the possibility of using an 18 wheeler to haul it. Were you considering lowering your price. Cheapest I've gotten is $1050. Lou (11/2/2009)
Response: you mean to tell me an 18 wheeler is going to do the plane move for 1050.00 well good luck you asked me if i could lower my price of 2100.00 i dont think so sorry i own a truck to make money not to lose money thank you steven.. (11/3/2009)
Question: i noticed that the low bider dose not have any us-dot numbers ? (11/4/2009)
Question: you know i think im just wasteing my time your not going take my bid thanks any ways (11/4/2009)
Question: The speed of my fingers are getting the best of me this morning. Obviously I mean a "truck" and "our" service, not "are". But I'm sure you get the idea. (11/6/2009)
Question: I will replace the bid if you are interested. (Deb at Arbie's Team) (11/6/2009)
Response: Please keep your bid active. When were you going to be available in MA. (11/6/2009)
Response: I have contacted the company owner who is working with the cars this week and he will let me know shortly. In the meantime, I will reactivate our bid and please let me know what type of timeframe would work best for you so that we can coordinate efforts and schedules. Thank you for allowing us to potentially earn your business. (Arbie's Team) (11/6/2009)
Question: I have a 34 foot enclosed trailer with a drop down read door so you can just walk in and out and it has e track to strap down anything you need to hold down in the trailer. You can take one day to load and one day to unload . I live here in Florida so this would work out for both of us, my price to do this would be for $1400.00. If you are interested in doing this let me know and we can set this up. (11/6/2009)
Response: This sounds very excellent. (11/6/2009)
Response: Lou I can even bring a few moving blankets so we can put them on the floor to pad the fuselodge to protect it from the trailer floor if you think it would help. The red plane in my profile pictures is now being used in the cranberry fields off of Cape Cod and the other one I hauled from mass is out in AZ (11/6/2009)
Response: Hi Tony, The plane will take up about 18 linear feet of your 34 foot trailer. Everything should fit within that length very nicely. That would leave you 15 or 16 linear feet of space for all the other things you have. My stuff should weigh no more than 800 lbs. The dry weight of the plane was only 768 lbs. when new and I'm missing a few parts. Your price is very fair. I'm thinking your the guy for this job. Thanks, Lou (11/6/2009)
Response: Hey Lou that sounds good then I could find other stuff to fit on the back to load after you get the plane all loaded and strapped down and like I said before once it in their it wont move until you move it in Tampa. When you know a date let me know and we can go from their and I will start to look for other stuff to go with the plane (11/7/2009)
Question: Actually, it makes more sense for you to suggest a timeframe and let me know Roy's schedule before bidding again, so that I don't put in a miscalculated set of dates and cause confusion. He should be contacting me shortly and I will wait to hear from you. (Arbie's Team) (11/6/2009)
Question: Roy states that he can bring this down next week on his return trip, so I will bid accordingly. (Arbie's Team) (11/6/2009)
Question: Sorry for the two different posts but if you look at my profile pictures you will see I have hauled two planes before but with my smaller trailer, also if you go to my profile you can click on the video and you will see the trailer that your plane will be transported in which is a 34 foot 3 axel 18000lb rated trailer, also if you dont think you will take the whole 34 feet up I can lower the price if I can fit a few bikes on the back 10 feet. I see the end of November is your time frame which works out even better for me, all I ask is keep me in mind and let me know if you would like to do this so I can get my end going and be up their towards the end of Nov. Thanks again and sorry for the two posts. (11/6/2009)
Response: Hi, Regarding the additional cargo. Would these bikes be unloaded before mine or after ? My stuff will be in boxes and like I mentioned there is a standard pallet. You might be able to unload a few of my cardboard boxes in order to remove the bikes. As long as there is a minimal amount of removal. I just don't want to loose anything such as a box of this or that being left behind. It does happen. What sort of discount can you offer ? I was looking at the end of November. Is there a preference day ( before/after Thanksgiving. Lou (11/6/2009)
Response: Hey Lou anything that is loaded would be loaded after the plane is loaded in the trailer this way we can make sure their is room left on the back of the trailer for the bikes or anything else that will fit. Plus whatever is loaded on the back will be unloaded before your plane is unloaded so once your parts and plane are in the trailer they will never be touched or moved until the trailer gets to Tampa. As for time frame I think after Thanksgiving would work best for me but you tell me what works best for you. If you think you would like to do this and their is room on the back of the trailer I could most likely drop the price to $1000 or maybe even to $900.00 as long as their is room left on the back for other stuff and if I can find freight to put back their. Again it all depends on the amount of floor space your plane takes. (11/6/2009)
Response: Hi, Just wanted to make sure you got my last bit of correspondence regarding the length of the wing and fuselage. I posted that on your previous message. You think you have enough room left for other things to help bring my cost down. I guess you would call this an LTL, less than a trailer load. This is a very unique Cub. It used to belong to the Ludwig Flying School at Peter O Night Airport here in Tampa back in 1942. It's finally on it's way back home. Lou (11/6/2009)
Response: Lou the trailer is 34 feet inside and if you say it will only take up about 15 or 16 feet that will leave enough space on the back where I can find something to load on the back of the trailer or if I have to I can load something 1st then put the plane in 2nd and unload the plane 1st but no matter what the plane will not be moved once its in the trailer. I live here in Florida and go to Tampa a lot to the Trop to see the Rays play my son works for them he is a chef at the Trop and gets me good seats to see the games. (11/7/2009)
Response: Tony I meant to say that my plane would take 18 feet leaving you 16 feet for other things. I hope that's still good for you. I'm shooting for Monday the 30th of November for everything to be picked up. The rent on the hanger runs out on that day. Thanks, Lou (11/7/2009)
Response: Lou that would work all I would need it 10 or 12 feet MAX for a bike to fit on the back and the end of Nov should work out fine. I will let you know in the next day I will contact my customer today and wait to see if they write me back today and when they do I will get back to you. (11/7/2009)
Response: Hi Tony, Just checking to see if your still interested in shipping my airplane parts. Did you find anything else you can haul along with the plane ? Lou (11/11/2009)
Question: Please bear in mind that we will need to know if these timeframes and bid work for you as quickly as possible, as loads have to be set for the return trip north. I look forward to hearing from your shortly. (Deb at Arbie's Team) (11/6/2009)
Question: (11/6/2009)
Question: Hi Lou. I read that you were shooting for 11/30 for pickup. Could you please give us an indication if this is firm and if you are interested in our quote? We need to know if you would like shipment next week or if the 30th would work for you, as we would need to plan other loads to coincide with yours. Thanks. (Deb at Arbie's Team) (11/7/2009)
Response: I'm open to all bids but will utimately select the lowest bid from the shipper I feel most comfortable with. The 30th is good for me and good for the person in MA who still has to sort everything out. As far as I know it does not cost the shipper to post a bid and to update the bid to be more competitive. Thank you for your continued interest. Lou (11/7/2009)
Response: The 30th might work well for us too, so I will keep renewing. I certainly hope by reading our reviews, you would feel confident in having us ship for you. We own four businesses in NH are are excellence at customer service and what we do. Also, if you would like additional references, they can be provided upon bid acceptance. Uship will not allow the exchange of phone number, names, etc., prior to that. (Arbie's Team) (11/7/2009)
Question: look at all the time that has gone bye the plane would of been there by now thanks any ways time to move on take care lou. steve. (11/10/2009)
Question: Good morning. We are still very interested in taking this plane down for you, but we do need to know as soon as possible. We hope you understand that we need to plan a load back up the coast, and it takes a few days. The sooner we know if you will accept this bid, the sooner we can start bidding on items to come north. Thanks. (Arbie's Team) (11/11/2009)
Question: I am having problems finding stuff going north to Mass, I live here in Florida, I found something to add with the plane to come south but nothing going north. So just in case if you find someone that can do it I would say to cover yourself I would take their offer because as of now I cant get north but I am still looking (11/11/2009)
Question: Hello I will be in your area this weekend and would like to service your shipping needs. I have a 16ft box truck and a 26ft box truck. If it can fit into the 16ft I can do the job for $1450 which will include everything. Please get back with me so I can book this shipment for you, Thank you for your consideraton, A&T Logistics, LLC. (11/11/2009)
Response: Hi, Thanks for your interest. I would need the larger box truck you have. The fuselage is 18' long and the one wing panel is 17' Long. Lou (11/12/2009)
Question: Hello Lou. I notice that we are still your lowest bid, and your only bid. This bid, unfortunately, expires in five days. We cannot renew after that. We have hung in there with you from the beginning wanting to make this shipment and help you out. However, we need some advanced notice that we are selected so that we can search, bid and find shipments north. As you know, people don't accept these bids right away and to run north empty would cause us to lose money. And, in the alternative, if we bid on items now and you don't accept, we are stuck having to go all the way to Florida empty to pick items up so that we don't disappoint those people selecting us to ship north for them. We really want to work with you, but asking for a decision in the next five days, especially with the holiday to consider, is really not asking too much. I'm sure you can appreciate that. We can't afford to run empty on one leg of the journey. Thanks (Deb at Arbie's Team) (11/14/2009)
Question: Hi, Are you still looking to do this? (11/18/2009)
Response: Hi, Yes. Still waiting for a reasonable price. If I don't find one I'll have to do it myself. Found a professional Airplane hauler that will do it for $1250. I might use him. Not sure where Ubid comes up with their goofy price averages. Certainly doesn't serve the interests of the shipper posting inflated costs. My cost needs to be closer to $1000. to be of any interest to me. Thanks, Lou (11/18/2009)
