Additional Information: I need to move 10 boxes of varying weight (no more than 45 lbs.) filled mostly of personal things (mostly books). Freight companies charge way too much for such a small move. Need to have them shipped from Cincinnati, OH to Montreal, Canada. Shipping time is NOT an issue. However, move must occur BEFORE May 28th. The total weight of the whole shipment is approximately 475 lbs. Everything is in packaged and sealed boxes that can be stacked but are NOT crated.

INSURANCE IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST! I do not want to lose any of these books since some are VERY valuable. Please, if interested in this shipment, mention some type of insurance.

This is my 1st move, therefore I also need a company or shipping agent that helps with any custom fees, procedures, etc. Therefore, if interested in providing service, please mention custom procedures as well.

Estimates price using ESTIMATE CALCULATOR is $291. I am offering more because of the value and importance of books!

Question: Who will be the Canadian importer of record in Canada and pay for all the customs clearance formalities? (5/6/2009)

Response: I will be the importer since I am moving to Canada. I would pay for all custom clearance formalities. However, since this is my first time doing a move like this, I am unsure as to what are the detailed step-by-step procedures of how to do this. That's why I am trying to hire a company that helps me in all these matters. Thanks! (5/7/2009)

Response: $291 estimated cost must be for transportation only (no customs clearance) and that cost doesn't include the residentials. You are looking for the cheapest method for valuable personal cargo and that doesn't work. Good luck!! (5/13/2009)

Question: Hi, I did a move like this not to long ago in the same vacinity. Can you come across the border at Massena and meet me - transfer your goods to your vehicle and you transport them across the border yourself? This is so much easier on everyone and we as carriers do not have to deal with customs. P.S. - a good case of cold Canadaian beeer is always to exchange - lol. Response: I would be storing this inside a deposit that's located on the ground floor of a builing. So in reality it's inside, but does not require taking the boxes up stairs or inside the apartment, just to the deposit doors. Thanks (5/13/2009)
