Question: I can do this for $1500 if you rent the uHaul trailer, load it, unload it and return trailer to a uhaul dealer. I operate betweeen Ak and IN several times a year and can tow the uhaul back to the lower 48 for you. I am fully DOT compliant, licensed, insured, bonded for Canada, and reliable. I can do it for 1375 if you take it from Goshen,IN to the final destination. For your info the Canadian permits for this trip alone are $200 for BC, and $50 for SK. My cost for fuel to come home with no trailer is just over $900, with small trailer it will cost $1200 for fuel alone. so you see that $1500 will be the actual costs with only $50 left over for me. Something to consider. (4/12/2008)

Response: Thank you so much for the offer, though I'm not entirely sure I understand the logistics of it. The rental for a uHaul is somewhat crippling, since mileage itself must be accounted for in addition to days rented. I will also be driving down to Michigan, and would have towed the uHaul myself if the price were more reasonable. So, just to be clear, was your offer to be a driver willing to tow our rented uHaul on one of your trips? If so, that's terribly sweet! And sincerely appreciated, particularly if our trip required two vehicles; however, I'm not sure we could afford the uHaul rental. Thank you again for your offer, and especially your candor, information and generosity. (4/12/2008)

Response: Yes that for me to tow the trailer for you. I think you are being a bit sarcastic, but some folks actually dont have a large enuogh vehicle to tow the trailer or are intending to fly back to the lower 48, or a variety of other reasons. Anyway, I was trying to help you understand the actual costs of the move you are trying to book. If I did it for $600, that would like me doing it as a favor because I am such a good natured person (and I am), but I am also trying to support a family doing this. the price I quoted was generous, as I was asking you to pay the permits and fuel costs. If you change your mind I will be around. Thanks for your time. P.S. I have made military moves before and the military gives them a fair amount to relocate, in case your military, upwards of $2.00 a mile in some cases. Hope that helps. (4/12/2008)

Response: I was absolutely not being sarcastic! I was sincerely noting the generosity of your offer, which was obvious to me! This is the particularly difficult nature of communication via the written word. It is also obvious to me that you are a good natured person, particularly because you were so informative, and your price appeared fair and reasonably accounted to almost appear as a favor anyway, which I was very touched by. I want to reiterate that I am honest-to-goodness grateful for your offer, but that it isn't what we had in mind. So, thank you, and good luck to you! (4/13/2008)

Response: Also, the rental for the uhaul trailer for 12 days, all included is $609. Doesnt seem to high. (4/12/2008)

Response: I agree! But the "sport" trailer is not large enough to accommodate our needs, and the larger trailers are very infrequently available for a considerably larger price. And if we could see the economic benefit from a larger trailer, we do have the ability to tow it ourselves. Again, thanks so much for your help, for looking into that for us, and for your offer of transport. (4/13/2008)

Question: If you can drop your boxes off at a dock in Anchorage, I would be willing to receive them and store them at my office / warehouse in Ann Arbor. I can start working on the price tomorrow, but for me to get you an accurate bid I will need to have the dimensions of each box. Chase - A2 Shipping Depot. (6/4/2008)

Response: That sounds perfect, Chase, I hope this works out! This is an estimate, but I believe we would be able to accomodate our things into the following parameters (LxWxH): 10 large boxes that are 2x2x3, 6 medium boxes that average 2x1.5x1.5, and 6 bins that average 2x1.5x1.5. That's what we're looking at right now, I will certainly let you know if those estimates change. Thanks so much for your time! (6/6/2008)

Response: The key is going to be to get your boxes on a standard sized pallet. That is 40x48 by 60 inches high. That will also protect your shipment in transit and keep boxes from being lost. I'm awaiting a couple numbers, but will try to get a hard number for you by Wednesday based upon the numbers that you have provided. (6/6/2008)

Response: I think we could definitely work with pallets that size, my husband is a logistical genius and I'm a whiz at Tetris. We'll probably need 3 to 5 of them, but we can guarantee maximum utilization of space. Wednesday sounds wonderful, thanks so much! (6/6/2008)

Response: If you will drop off at the Anchorage Terminal put it on pallets and shrink-wrap, the pallets can be up to 7 ft high. My bid is based upon 3 pallets of no greater than this size [Per uShip Rules: All bids must be all inclusive]I will have delivered to my warehouse here in Ann Arbor. We can negotiate the following: A storage fee, or I can get you your own storage unit (climate controlled if you like) at the same facility I use. I can deliver it to you here in Ann Arbor, or you can come and pick up. It will take 14 days to arrive here in Ann Arbor. Chase - A2 Shipping Depot (6/9/2008)

Response: Chase - thank you so much for putting a bid together for us! It is also comforting that you know a good storage unit in Ann Arbor, as we may be in need of one. Unfortunately, we have received 3 other per-pound prices that are lower than yours, 2 from airlines and 1 from a local company. Since our shipment will be at least 1500 lbs, we will need to go with the lowest per-pound estimate we can get. I don't know if submitting a bid formally through uShip goes on your record somehow, but you can feel free to post a bid if you like, and I will be sure and provide positive feedback for all your help if I can. Thanks again! (6/9/2008)

Question: shipper, I may be in your area with my truck and trailer at the time you need it. I'm out of Wyandotte, MI. Do you have a better list of items that you need shipped? Your target price for this distance barely covers a normal charge for a motorcycle on a back-haul. please bare that in mind...Thanks, Steve (6/10/2008)

Response: Steve, what kind of information do you need? We're making estimates at this time, but we're fairly confident the dimensions and weight will be very close to the estimate. All we have are pre-packed boxes, 10 large, around 6 medium, and 5 or 6 hard plastic bins. Let me know what other information I can provide for you. And thank you so much for the advice on our target price, I'm tremendously inexperienced at shipping things and knowing that does put things into perspective. The price we used is around 15 cents less per-pound than our lowest quote received so far, so I'm just hoping! However, if you have any advice on our target price, we would be very grateful for your expertise. Talk to you soon, thanks again! (6/10/2008)

Response: On my end of things, I'm working on a full load coming up to the Anchorage area. If your load was to line up timewise with hers, you'd get a deal on a backhaul from me. So to put it simple, the more flexible you are with your times is usually how you get the cheapest haul. Your book it now price isn't off the wall too low or anything, but it might be by that time if fuel goes anymore nuttier!!! I should know for sure in a day or 2 what dates she's wanting to go. I've marked yours as being watched, so I'll let you know what's going on here, and see if that works for you. Thanks, Steve (6/10/2008)

Response: Sounds great, Steve, we are super flexible on dates, and we can come to Wyandotte to pick it up, too! Talk to you soon. (6/10/2008)

Question: Hi
Would you be interested in picking this shipment up in Minneapolis?
Im on my way up right now and if everything is on pallets and shrinkwrapped I can give you a good deal. Please give me an idea of what u can afford to pay to Minnesota. Thanks, Tim (8/7/2008)

Response: I would be willing to pick the shipment up in Minneapolis, but it will cost a bit to pallet and shrinkwrap, as well as rent a van and drive. Currently, we'll be spending around $1800 shipping it straight to Ann Arbor. What kind of deal did you have in mind? (8/8/2008)

Question: I have about 5 feet of space left on my trailer -I am in Anchorage now -and going fishing today -I can maybe get all of the boxes but might have to leave a few -if you would like me to bid this then if I come up short we can reduce the bid accordingly--i will put in a bid based on all of them fitting -I will be leaving late this eve for Mich- (8/9/2008)

Response: If you're still here, I do have some boxes that are ready to go now, but they're not all ready to go - so 5 feet may actually turn out to be perfect. I arrive in Ann Arbor on August 24th - will that be too late and, if so, is there something we can set up for storage in the meantime? Just let me know, and thanks! (8/9/2008)

Response: should I be planning on bring your things back (8/26/2008)

Response: Thanks for checking back with us - I'm going to need a day or two to discuss the possibility with my husband, who is handling the move as I am already in Ann Arbor. What approximately are you thinking would be a per pound price, or is it per square foot? Again, I really appreciate your keeping in touch!! (8/26/2008)

Response: I would be 1850 for 2000 pounds (8/28/2008)

Question: I just finished filling my trailer out and will not be back up for 5-7 weeks please request a bid if you still need this shipped (8/9/2008)

Response: I will, and thank you! I hope the silvers are still running when you get back. :) (8/9/2008)

Response: I will be back up there in 2-3 weeks from now - are you all set to go (8/24/2008)

Response: I could have all things packed up and ready to ship in 2-3 weeks. Do I need to palletize the boxes, or do you do that, or doesn't it matter? Where in Ann Arbor will our stuff be delivered to?
(8/29/2008)

Response: You do not need to pallettize them -I will stack them into the trailer and off again - how long do you need storage in Ann Arbor -? I can do that or store your items in my Wharehouse- (8/29/2008)

Response: That sounds great, actually. How long we will need storage in Ann Arbor just depends on when you arrive with the shipment, but it shouldn't be very long at all - anywhere from a few days to a week or so. If your wharehouse is located close to Ann Arbor, that may work out, as well. I just sent you a "request to re-bid," let me know if there is a better mechanism for making arrangements. And thank you so much, again, for keeping in touch!! (8/29/2008)

Response: bids in (8/29/2008)
