Question: Can it be hauled upside down on 4x4 across the bed rails of a p/u truck? (Flat and Level) I will check if I have enough room to hook up trailer behind it. Mike (4/21/2009)

Response: Yes, should be fine. As you seem to indicate it is too wide to fit in a bed of a pickup by a few inches. If it rides above the bed you'd have room underneath it, and, if the tongue of the following trailer is long enough...room for the extra feet that will hang out the back. It's collectible...so I need it unscathed! Thanks for your question. (4/21/2009)

Response: I'll measure with another trailer Wed or Thurs and get back to you. Also will straps over boat (which would be bottom and partial sides) be ok or is VERY easily marked by any contact?
(4/21/2009)

Response: I am ok with some straps over the bottom of the boat (in inverted position) but the bulk of the holding power should be around the bow casting or hook in front, around the seats on the inside of the boat, and around the cast handles integrated into the rear. Straps would be fine over the top but CANNOT be cranked on or it will compress the boat, bend over keel, etc. Does that make some sense. Were I to haul it that way I would use use a rope/strap up front, one around the middle and rear seat (side to side), and one on each bow handle (left and right). Then I would put some lighter pressure straps with cardboard protectors over the formed aluminum pieces on the bottom/top of the boat. Good questions...Thanks. (4/21/2009)

Response: I understand completely. I was not sure give the age of the boat if the seats would be able to strapped to and I did not think there would be anything to hook to in the bow. Thanks for the quick reply, Mike (4/21/2009)

Question: Hello again, is the 11'7" exact. If it is, it should work and still allow me to tow a trailer behind. With the trailer I am hooked to right now, the bow would be about 6" away from the trailer. And that is with the stern end flush with the front of my box. If this would work I can haul it for $400. Does that price work for you? Thanks Mike (4/22/2009)

Response: Mike...
It is 11'7"--confirmed. There might be a small bow eye but that is typically mounted slightly down from the front tip of the boat and I do not believe it extends out at all beyond the bow. It might by 1/2 inch, max. Only issue might be if you make a tight turn...the trailer might impact the side of the bow of the boat...I'd highly doubt it but you know your trailer radius. It would take a mighty sharp turn to do that if at all possible. Maybe just something to be on the lookout for. Dimensions are 11'7" long, 54" wide at the widest point, 24" depth forward, 17" at the stern.
What's your timing? I will need to coordinate having this guy help you load the boat or do you have a side-kick. Fellow in NH is a nice guy...want to be respectful of his timing, other issues, etc. Pricing is ok. Most important to get here unscathed...
Paul (4/22/2009)

Response: No its just me on this trip so I'll definately need help from your seller loading it on. If its only 130lbs I don't think it will be any problem lifting, I have a bad back and I doubt that it would give us any struggle. The trailer I am going out to NH with is supposed to be out by the 11th of May. Exact day is not set yet. Son of buyer has to come up from Mass. to meet me at campground. I can work on exact timeframe in the next day or two. I'll try calling him Thurs. Turning should be no problem. I don't normally turn that sharp. Slow and wide, off the curbs and no coffee tipping. G'nite Mike (4/22/2009)

Response: Thanks. Appreciate your effort on this. I think that timing will be ok. I will let the seller know the approximate timing by date to make sure he is going to be around then. I will help unload. Thanks for the comment on the turning...They made 2,200 of these boats (or so) and there are maybe a few hundred left? Thanks for your concern about it, anyway. Keep in touch.
Paul (4/23/2009)

Response: This will be my first classic boat. I used to haul Donzi powerboats, and I think the oldest I hauled was a mid 70s. This will be in the 'vintage' file along with the 50 something Airstream I pulled a couple years ago. I will contact you back as soon as I get the exact day I will p/u. If you have any other questions or suggestions send me a note. Thanks Mike (4/23/2009)

Response: Mike...
Keep me posted. Not sure how I pay you for this, nor how I get you my seller's contact information or my contact information. It can't go on these responses, I note. I am a first time UShip guy, though I looked into one a while back for the same model boat out in CA. Please advise as to what the right protocol is. Seller will be available evenings only to help load that week of May 11th. The boat's aren't that heavy, but you cannot do it yourself very safely or readily. Keep in touch.

Response: Hi Paul, contact info will be given once bid is accepted. I didn't place a bid yet until I know the exact day I will be there. I still could not reach my delivery out east yet, hopefully tonight. I will work around the scheduling the best I can. Later, Mike (4/23/2009)

Question: Hi Paul, I got hold of my delivery in NH. The day I am going to be out there is the 12th of May. You can let me know what time your seller is available after. Not much up in that neck of the woods, nice area though. As for payment, I submit bid, then you decide on acceptance or not. Uship takes deposit and puts that on your credit card you submitted on your application. You pay me upon delivery. Since your local, I will take personal check or cash. I don't take checks for out of state customers. I live up in Port Washington, if you didn't catch that on my profile. Contact info will be given to each of us when bid is accepted. Thanks, Mike (4/23/2009)
