Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hi again, If I were ultimately successful with my bid, do you happen to know what time the Plumbing Supply store opens on Monday morning (my preferred timeline)? Separately, your fragile cargo makes it important that you verify that transporters carry cargo insurance just in case there is a mishap.......I carry $25,000 as part of my bid offering. thanks Alastair (ahudson) (4/17/2008)
Response: Hi back! Sorry if this yields a duplicate response. I thought I had answered, but don't see it in my mail basket. The seller's web page indicates the following operating hours: M-F 7am - 5pm; Sat 7am - 1:30pm. Thanks for the insurance info; it is important. Is your $25,000 figure for the entire load you would haul, or my portion? I presume it would be 100% coverage. How do you determine value for a given item? How would the customer process a claim? (Hopefully it wouldn't be necessary) I'd also expect the successful bidder to inspect the sink prior to loading it on his/her truck, just to be sure it is in "like new" condition at origin. I plan to finalize my selection no later than noon Friday (tomorrow). Best wishes. Genie (4/17/2008)
Question: I MIGHT be off to visit family in Silver Springs MD this weekend. I wont know until Friday night. I see you listed the time frame for the store, and I can certainly make that window. If I decide to go, I'll put in a bid Friday night LATE. I will head down early Saturday and deliver the sink probably Sunday or maybe even late Sat.. Only $125 if Im going. If another acceptable offer comes up, certainly take it because I wouldn't want my idea to cost you a missed opportunity. Thanks- Bruce C&S (4/17/2008)
Response: Thanks for the note; I wish you'd know sooner than late Friday nite...your price and timing would work well for me. Your profile doesn't mention anything about insurance. Since the item is fragile, I'd need to be sure it was inspected at point of origin and well insured during shipment. The dealer's web page indicates he's open M-F 7am to 5pm and Sat 7am to 1:30pm. I'm chatting with a couple of other drivers but haven't selected anyone yet. However I had hoped to get the decision made by mid-day Friday. Please bid if you make your decision sooner. Thanks. Response: I am going to get red flagged for this, but I am tired of the BS that people post! CARGO insurance is ONLY for freight that is classified by the NMFC. It is based on Weight, storability, handling, and liability. It DOES NOT COVER HOUSEHOLD GOODS!!! Household goods are regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. All insurance must be in a clear and concise manner disclose the liability limits. Layman terms is that you cant insure Aunt Sally's antique couch for $10,000 under CARGO insurance because its weight, material, handling and liability will determine a specific class worth only $300. Household goods insurance can insure it, BUT, the determined value must be agreed upon by 1) the owner of the property, 2) the shipper or the property, 3) the actual insurance company!! You may think its worth $10k, and the trucking company might be willing to accept your value but the insurance might think its worth $10. Dont get wooed by the lingo. GET IT IN SPECIFIC WRITING! (4/17/2008)
Response: Thank you very much for the explanation about insurance coverage. As a new shipper with UShip, I didn't know...I hope you don't get a "red flag" since you took the time to explain. Again, thanks! (4/18/2008)
Question: We have a truck headed to DC tomorrow. We can make this shipment for you. (4/17/2008)
Response: 8:45pm Just saw your note. Please submit a bid so I can consider it. Thanks. (4/17/2008)
Question: I ran out of room. Inspection is fine. i own an Iphone, and will snap shots at time of pickup; email them to you. The sink is in a box, that I am sure provides enough safe packaging to insure a safe ride in a vehicle. ( It got to the shop didn't it? ) My CARGO insurance doesnt include household goods. ( read previous posting ) I will try to get you the earliest bid possible. If it works, great for us. If not, maybe next time. Thanks again and either way, good luck. Sorry for the previous venting but too many people on this forum are just chasing dollars and not servicing the needs. It is turning into a futile effort to compete with incompetent carriers. (4/17/2008)
Response: No problem! I appreciate the thorough response. Best wishes! (4/18/2008)
