Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hi, Are the dimensions listed for the entire shipment? Whats your target price?? I can do it, no problem. (4/24/2008)
Response: The trailer is 18ft long, 60 inches wide, with the inflated boat on top of the trailer it is 6ft 7inches wide and the height of the top of the mounted outboard engine crowl is 5ft high. The total weight is: boat 202lbs trailer 200lbs outboard 105lbs I have a quote to just ship the boxed up boat, floorboard, and outboard for $323. Matson quoted $4K for boat on top of trailer with outboard attached. The Matson quote would drive me to just buy a new boat rather than shipping it. Not sure if I could share a container or not. (4/24/2008)
Question: Hi Charlie.. If you got a quote for $300 Bucks that is your best bet.. I too can ship the boat and trailer though... Can you bring it to San Diego? If so than I can do it for $3500 Thanks Larry (6/25/2008)
Response: That was $300 X 3boxes =$900 to ship using FedEx without the trailer. Thanks for the quote Of $3500 but Matson is $4000 from Oakland, CA so I'll pass on your $3500 quote. (6/25/2008)
Question: Hi Charlie, this is William Donohoe from The Shipping Shack, Inc. I was just reading your comments about shipping your items via FedEx. I do not know who gave you those rates by they are not correct. You are looking at freight, not express packages. Also, the engine gas & oil will need to be drained & flushed. You will need documentation stating so. This is federal regulations. Also, when you ship air freight, you are charged the actual weight or dimensional weight, which ever is the highest. Dimensional weight (dim weight) is calculated by L x W x H divided by 194 for domestic shipments. I have been in the shipping industry for 22 years. Nineteen years with Fed Ex. Three years as owner of The Shipping Shack, Inc. I would verify if someone tells you different, mahalo. (6/26/2008)
Response: Thanks William for your reply. Yes, I had forgotten that I will have to drain the gas carb bowl, and lower unit's oil before. Needing proof is another good reminder that I have to get a marine service to do it and give me a service bill that documents that I had it done. The quotes I got were for frieght, and Fedex $990 while UPS was $1200 for all 3 boxes. This method would leave the trailer behind and I have to buy an new one in Honolulu for $800. Right now I'm working on finding out how much it will cost to bring all 3 boxes as excess oversized baggage when I fly back. This route may be the choice I take. Charlie (6/26/2008)
