Additional Information: Need my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Transported via TRAILER. If you want to bid on driving it over, you can leave me a bid under shipment title "Drive Illinois to Portland, OR" though I won't be able to pay as much for driven transport compared to trailered, considering wear and tear and additional risk to the car and my insurance premiums.

The car is ready to go immediately. I am ready to accept the right bid now if you provide it. I was originally advertising drop-off in Bend, OR, but now offering Portland as I know it is a more desirable drop-off point for shippers. Would pay a little more if you bring it to Bend rather than Portland, though. Please give me your bid and indicate Portland or Bend drop-off. Thanks!

Questions for this shipment:

Question: i live a short distance from where your jeep is an do it for $1250 if interested let me know and i can bid first part of next week thanks rusty (8/29/2005)
Response: Rusty, I need to get under $1000 and hoping it can go out this week. I may fly over this weekend and get it if I don't get a bid within my budget. Thanks for your interest. Paul (8/29/2005)
Question: Paul can do it for $1100 if that will work for you i can leave monday the 5 if that will work let me know thanks rusty (8/30/2005)
Response: Rusty, I will think on it, though a little more than I want to spend and the car will get here later than I want. How many days would it take before you dropped my vehicle? Thanks again for your interest. Paul (8/30/2005)
Question: paul if i pickup on monday i can be there wednesday night or thursday morning if this will work let me know thanks rusty (8/30/2005)
Response: Rusty, please check back with me in case I have't yet shipped or picked up the car. Though I would still be looking to keep it to $1000 if that could work for you. Thanks, Paul (8/30/2005)
Question: I am trailering a 4 wheeler atv to Portland on the 13th weighing < 700lbs. If this Jeep has a hitch and wiring harness and you would consider it, I could move this for you directly to Bend. I would only request you pay fuel expenses. All reciepts will be provided. I am 40-non smoker-accident and ticket free over 20 years. I live 60 minutes from Peoria. (9/2/2005)
Response: Conceptually, this arrangement sounds great. I have a few concerns that need exploring though. My hitch and anti-sway bars are here in Bend. Do you have a hitch and sway bars available? The jeep is not yet equipped with trailer brakes, but if you could get a unit installed I would reimburse you. The jeep does have a tow package with 2" receiver and electrical connector. How many pins on your trailer's electrical connector? What is the weight of your trailer? Have you towed before? Please, let's talk. (9/2/2005)
Question: I do have a 2" adapter. I have been trailering my lawn equipment around local area for 8 years (city/highway), moved over 20 peoples households (mine included) without any damages or scratches and have trailer my entire household plus 2 motorcycles to/from Illinois/Washington and have had considerable experience with a light load thru mountainous terrian with my s-10 ext cab pulling 6X12 trailer. The trailer (5X8) plus atv combined may equate to around 1200lbs (probably less around 1000.) No sway bars would be required since I would attach chains from trailer to receiver and load will be tied down securely with 10,000lb ratcheting straps. Any other questions or concerns I would be happy to answer. (9/2/2005)
Response: What is the 2" adapter that you refer to? Is it the hitch that goes into the receiver and does it have the right ball size for your trailer? Though 1200 total pounds is not a lot for this V-8 to pull, sway bars would still help prevent the trailer from swinging from side-to-side and potentially causing the relatively short wheel based jeep from losing control. This potential would be accentuated at higher speeds and if the weight in the trailer was balanced over the axle or further back. More tongue wait (load forward) would reduce the potential for sway. I am also concerned about the brakes. The extra 1200 lbs weight would be hard on the jeep brakes if not absorbed partially by trailer brakes. Lets talk more. Thanks. (9/2/2005)
Question: Yes the 2" adapter is the hitch for the receiver. Currently there is a 5 pin wiring harness on this 5x6 trailer (I gave wrong dimension not a 5x8-that is my landscape trailer). No trailer brakes on this small of a trailer most don’t come with them. With regard to anti sway bars, the tongue on the front of trailer is about 3 1/2' long, thereby reducing chance of sway and I don’t believe there is anywhere to install anti-sway bars on this small of a trailers front end or tongue. Having used a Jeep Wrangler & S-10 for pulling my equipment (heavier loads and larger trailer) w/o sway bars both city & highway, I do not believe swaying will be an issue, but that is the reason Illinois requires the chains be taught. I do understand the concern with the brakes but, I have pulled upwards of 4K loaded trailer with my S-10 thru the mountains with a 512lbs street bike and 250lbs dirt bike in the back of truck and did not cause the brakes to be smoked or damaged (I error on the side of caution). (9/3/2005)
Response: Okay, considering the size and weight of the trailer, your experience pulling such trailers, and your indicated cautious driving, and your good driving record, this sounds good. Please place a bid. Thanks, Paul (9/3/2005)
Question: Paul, my name is steve. Since this is my first time using this means of securing a deliver/load, I am not sure how to bid, since gas is the only cost, I am courious as to how to handle the bid. I would ask for money up front of course to differ my out of pocket expenses, and provide receipts on your end as stated for finalizing payment, but I am unsure as how to bid on this. (9/4/2005)
Response: Hello Steve, when you call up my posting, click on the green "place bid" and fill out the information. In the section called "What payment times you will accept", click on "At pickup". It is 1941 miles from Bartonville to Bend per Google Maps. Pulling the trailer you should get about 17 to 18 mpg. At approximately $3.00 per gallon, this comes to about $324 to $342. Since you need to put in a flat-rate bid, I am fine if you put in $350 to cover. (9/4/2005)
Question: Couple of quick questions. 1-I am assuming vehicle is lic. and insured and has vehicle registration in vehicle, yes?. 2-We will need to be able to communicate after reaching destination or in event of any unforseen events, how will that happen? I will arrive in Vancouver first, drop off trailer and have brother follow me down to drop of vehicle and pick me up. He works at Portland International, this is ok I assume. 3-Since I will be leaving my home early am on the 13th, I will need to get the jeep a day early. Bartonville is about 1 hour 30 min. south of where I live and will be leaving from Peru, Il/right off of route 80. I will be running 80 to 84 to Portland then heading down to you. Hope this is ok. Let me know and if any other questions come up I will reply shortly. I will try to tie this up tonight or tomorrow-depending on your ok'n deal. (9/4/2005)
Response: Hello Steve. On Tuesday (9/6) I will send by Next Day mail the license plates, regis., and insur. card to the sales lot where the car is so they’re with the jeep when you pickup on the 12th. Not sure if the salesperson will put the plates on for me, though. My insurance also provides emergency towing and repair in the unlikely event it is needed. The vehicle is reported to be in excellent running shape. I can't list my phone #'s here (against uShip rules), but after bid acceptance we can exchange all needed info. I will provide you with home, work and cell number. Will you have a cell with you? Regarding route, I would suggest one change that will save us both time and gas. I would rather you came straight to Bend (turn off I84 turnoff at Ontario when you cross the Snake River into Oregon). When you get to Bend I can be ready to head right out and will drive you and your trailer to wherever you need to go in the Portland area then proceed on to Seattle to pickup a traveltrailer.
