Transport required for a 1,000 plastic septic tank along with 45 ten-foot long lengths of PVC and 3 small boxes of fittings from storage in an urban lot in NJ to a rural site in upstate NY. The property is located off a narrow gravel road, and access involves traversing a dirt and gravel driveway approximately 2,600 feet long, with several switchbacks and a couple of somewhat steep inclines. 4-wheel drive is a must. Question:

Hello,I have a small 17' Tilt Bed Truck 2wd.Do you have a 4wd pickup or tracter that could pull me up the hill if needed? Is this tank on a skid of some type so it can be slid it up the truck bed? Thanks,Ruez.Report a Violation
Response: I have a Polaris Ranger Crew on the site that can provide about 2000 pounds of extra pull, but that's all. The tank is sitting on the ground, but should slide easily over the ground and up onto your bed.11/4/2010Report a Violation
Response: : Hello,You would know the driveway conditions better than me. Does 2wd pickups and cars make it up? Do you have a SUV that has a trailer ball on the back that we can hook a chain to if need be? My truck has dual rear wheels and weights 8000lbs.If you know that it will work I will bid.Thanks,Ruez.11/4/2010Report a Violation
Response: Honestly, it's hit or miss depending on the vehicle and the conditions on any given day. There's a good chance you would make it up with the truck you describe, but sometimes even a little leaf cover on the ground can make life difficult. For example, a 2WD Econoline cargo van was not able to make it up. But most pickups/SUV's do fine. Last November I had a hauler tow a travel trailer up for me, and he was in a 4WD pickup with double rear wheels, with a golf cart in the bed and my trailer behind him (which weighed mroe than 5,000 pounds). He got stuck in a couple of places because the ground was wet. We wound up hooking him to my Polaris Ranger Crew with a cable and the extra ton or so of pulling power made the difference. But this is a much lighter load. 11/5/2010Report a Violation
Response: : Hello,I looked up the specs on the Polaris Ranger crew and I see that the 800 model both 4x4 and 6x6 both have a 2000Lb towing capacity. If you have either of them I am sure that would work.Thanks,Ruez.11/5/2010Report a Violation
