Additional Information: It is only the hardtop that I need to ship. The hardtop is in a pretty poor condition. I need someone to transport it from Monkton, MD 21111 to Cambridge MA 02138. I am not worried about scratches or dents, all I care is that you do not break the rear glass on it.
In case you decide to crate it, I will pay an additional fee only if you leave the crate when you deliver. Please provide quote for both options crate and delivery.

Questions for this shipment:

Question: Is this all ready to go? I will be through your area either late tonight or real early morning-does the time of time matter? let me know. (2/25/2007)
Response: I read some of your reviews and would like to see if we can work together. Do you still have a run some time early next week from MD. I can have it arranged with the owner that you pick it up. In case you are interested please provide me with a quote. (2/26/2007)
Question: Sorry, I have no idea of when I'll be in MD again. (2/26/2007)
Question: I could protect this with an open sided crate and deliver it to you for 330.00. I have foam-plastic for the window protection (2/26/2007)
Response: What do you mean by open sided crate and would you leave the crate and the foaming behind (2/26/2007)
Question: What do you mean by open sided crate and would you leave the crate and the foaming behind (2/26/2007) I mean I would make a brace...like an "L" supporting the back of the roof with the glass in it. It would have a bottom and back, but to keep the top protected and glass secure, it would not really need to be a complete box, only bracing on the sides. (Lighter, easier to move...making it actually safer.) Yes, you could keep the foam and wood. Let me know soon, I could do this for this coming Thursday or Friday. (2/26/2007)
Response: Okay two questions, is this the best price you can offer me and assuming you pickitup on Thursday when can you deliver it. the place this is being delivered to is a warehouse which is only open during the week. Will you be able to manage. (2/26/2007)
Question: Okay two questions, is this the best price you can offer me and assuming you pickitup on Thursday when can you deliver it. the place this is being delivered to is a warehouse which is only open during the week. Will you be able to manage. (2/26/2007) Based on that, I would rather do this Monday. I have a flexible situation in CT, so I would not have an issue taking care of it. Yes, I quoted you rock bottom $$$. This would net me 303.93...a bargain for the distance and task at hand. (2/26/2007)
Response: Okay then I have contacted the warehouse in Boston telling them that the hardtop will arrive one week prior to the car and get their okay, as soon as I get their okay I will contact you. (2/26/2007)
Question: PS... Is that an old Jag?? What is it and what year? (2/26/2007)
Response: The car is a Mercedes 190SL, mine is a 1961 model. It will be in the warehouse that you are shipping the goods to, As for the one in the picture I am not sure what year it is but it must be somewhere between 1959 and 1963 judging by the shape of the Hardtop rear view window. (2/26/2007)
Question: Umm...would you like me to take the whole car? Or do I misunderstand that you are shipping them separate? (You mentioned the car will arrive later.) I can move the whole car as well if need be. (2/26/2007)
Response: No I already own a 190SL (Much better condition than this one) it is in a body shop in Cambrdige MA. I am having the car and the hardtop shipped overseas. I will also be looking for a person to do the local transfer of the car but the car needs to be picked up on March 12 . So in case you are interested you can pickup the hardtop, and then drive to Cambridge pickup the car and deliver them both to the warehouse. The distance between the warehouse and the body shop is about 10 to 15 miles max I am told. If you want to do both loads that is fine with me, give me a quote. Please note that the car is in working condition but sometimes gives me problems with the carburator and therefore you might need to push it on the trailer. I have attached a picture of the car for you. So that you can judge. (2/26/2007)
Question: I have a winch, so it would not matter. However, I think we should focus on the shipment at hand. Let me know what the storage facility has to say. (2/26/2007)
Question: By the way, whether we end up doing business or not, now that I recognize the car from the other shot, I have to mention it is one of the timeless designs. They could release those exact dimensions and lines now, but with updated injection and a turbocharged powerplant...mmm, I would buy one. Just a really really pretty car. (2/26/2007)
Response: Thanks a lot, in case you are interested I have just uploaded a picture of my car on USHip. Okay here is the deal, I talked with the people in MD and they prefer if you can pick it up on Tuesday or later next week. I also talked with the shipping warehouse and they can have you deliver the goods up until 2.00 pm anyday of the week. I also am flexible. The exact location of the warehouse is 100 Ashland St. Everette MA. 02149. Please note it is a bit different from the address listed on Uship. It is 5 miles in some direction. Also regarding payment terms how do we deal with it, as I will not be seeing you at all. (2/26/2007)
Question: Do you have a paypal account? Also, I would very much like precise measurement of the top to be sent to me. If you have paypal, how about 1/2 of the fee sent the night before I leave and half when the top has been delivered to the warehouse? Or, a check waiting for me for the full amount sent to the warehouse? (A bank check (cashiers check) waiting for me at the warehouse would be the best situation I think.) Let me know. I would like to get the measurement precise so I could make the cuts in the plywood prior to leaving so I only would need to screw the crate together upon arrival in MD. The rest of it would seem to be just fine. (2/26/2007)
Response: yes I do have a pay pal account and what I will do is I will pay 50% the night before you pickup the hardtop, the other 50% when I got a confirmation from the warehouse that the goods have arrived. Also let us schedule the dates and so on, so basically I will instruct the location in Maryland that you will pickup the load on Tuesday March 6, what time shall I tell them. Also when do you think you will have it at the drop off location, since as I told you they are open till 2.00 pm. Regarding the exact size of the hardtop I will do my best to find some resource for you on the web. pertaining to this subject. (2/27/2007)
Question: Regarding the exact size of the hardtop I will do my best to find some resource for you on the web. pertaining to this subject. (2/27/2007) Don't worry about that too much. By the time we formalize the bid, you and I can actually talk...and I can speak with the yard in MD about the top. (I would think they could do a quick measurement within a couple of inches either way.) I am putting in the bid. Please make sure you read what is in the bid so there are no misunderstandings. Tuesday is the day I have planned, but should I get sick or if there is a big snowstorm...obviously I would not risk my life and equipment to make Tuesday happen. (I would call the yard in MD, the warehouse and schedule another day.)------------------------------------ As far as the day I would get to the warehouse, the plan would be Wednesday. I cannot tell you exactly, but I could be sure to make it before 2PM. Please see one more thing below... (2/27/2007)
Response: Okay for me what is important is that you pickit up sometime after tuesday and not before and also that you are aware it needs to get their before 2 pm. I do not care what day it gets to MA. So long as you do it before March 15. Thanks (2/27/2007)
Question: Please see one more thing below... (2/27/2007)------------------------------- After careful thought, I wanted to ask you if I could actually bolt the top to the wood frame I am going to construct. The reason being...I could make a simple protective shield around the glass and nothing would be scratching it. It has to go through many points before it reaches its final destination. If your focus is truly the glass, I think it would be best to drill a couple of holes in the top and actually bolt it. There would not need to be any foam and there would be zero chances for the top to move inside. It is up to you, but if the top is sacrificial, this would be the safest way to deal with its shipment. Here is your bid... (2/27/2007)
Response: Okay to make it clear the top is not sacrifical, I will have it fixed and it is the reason I am bringing the whole thing to lebanon as opposed to the window alone. When I said I do not care if it is scrateched or dented, is becuase it already needs work to have it fixed. As far as bolting it to the wood is concerned if you think it make a much safer box then go ahead, I can have that fixed in lebanon, anyway my bodyshop makes wonders out of these things so go ahead and use a couple of bolts, but nothing too damaging please. (2/27/2007)
Question: No problem. Only one thing here. I get hit with a fee to receive paypal funds. How about if you send a bank check to the warehouse for me to pick up when I deliver the top. That way, I don't get hit with the charges and once I deliver it, they can hand me the check. I think this makes much more sense to get this done as hassle free as possible. Also, if you are going to use the top, I will not bolt it. I can hold it down with a brace and put the foam in for safety...no problem. Looking at the vehicles makes me want one of the old diesels with a newer turbocharged engine and a 5 speed... :>) (2/27/2007)
Response: I have no problem except that at the receiving docks, it is only the people that are working their that will be available and frankly I do not trust them with a check. What are the additional charges by payback for two transactions versus one, if it is a small sum I am ready to pick it up. I personally like to make this as smooth as possible without 3rd party interferance as much as possible. (2/27/2007)
Question: sorry, not in area (2/27/2007)
Question: Answer: I have no problem except that at the receiving docks, it is only the people that are working their that will be available and frankly I do not trust them with a check. What are the additional charges by payback for two transactions versus one, if it is a small sum I am ready to pick it up. I personally like to make this as smooth as possible without 3rd party interferance as much as possible. (2/27/2007) I do not think the check being there, written out to me is a serious security risk. After thinking about it carefully, if you do not want to proceed by having the bank/cashiers check waiting at the warehouse...I will not be able to handle this run for you. (2/28/2007)
Response: I do not know why you are changing attitude on me, I am trusting you with 50% of the money before you even head out to pickup the stuff. I simply cannot have a certified check waiting becuase I am out of the country and it make is logistically impossible. I suggest an escrow setup (I will bear all the costs)with www.escrow.com the only certified ebay merchant. All I am trying to do is find a reasonable solution for the both of us. I think this is fair enough. BTW sorry for turning down the offer on the towing, I did not realize it was you. Plus my cousing has offered to use his flatbead from the bodyshop where the car is. Bottom line is I want to work with you, I believe we can find a solution that is okay for the both of us. In case you are still interested let us proceed. (2/28/2007)
Question: Please don't misunderstand. There is no attitude change at all, I just wanted to make sure we had all the details ironed out prior to a bid being accepted/contract being entered into. I do understand, you are far away and you are trusting for the first 50%. I have been taken in the past though, with a person who sounded every bit as sincere as yourself, so I have learned to protect myself. There are no hard feelings at all. I will agree to the following: I will show in the yard of the warehouse with the top. I will text you when I get there. A quick call to the warehouse to confirm I have arrived...then the paypal for the remainder into my account before the top is unloaded. If you are okay with this, I will rebid the job and we will proceed. Please don't take anything personal, but after being ripped off in the past, I have to make sure I get paid for the job. At the rate I am getting for this, I cannot afford to lose out in any way. :>) I hope this satisfies all around. Okay? (2/28/2007)
Response: I just noticed that everytime I click answer question it overrights the previous answer, so I want to have it documented on the site. I agree with the terms stated by you, I will be waiting for your text and I will also provide you with a US cell phone number for my fiance that can also finalize the transfer. I have also contacted the warehouse and they will be glad to have a personal check from me waiting for you. I want to offer you these choices and sincerly say the decision is yours. I prefer the paypal option myself. I understand your worries and it seems we share similair scars from the past. Regards (3/1/2007)
Question: Okay. Have to run right now, but will deal with this tonight, sounds fine. (3/1/2007)
Response: Greetings, just a gentle reminder that I need to finalize this, please can you give a quote so that I can also tick this item as being done. Regards (3/2/2007)
Question: Thank you for the bid request but we decline, good luck (3/1/2007)
Question: Wow...221 bid. There is a better price than I can give you. (3/2/2007)
Response: Yes but no crating involved, so in case you want it its still yours. But I need to commit soon. If not then I will try to find someone who can crate it and ship it with these guys. Please let me know. (3/2/2007)
Question: Ah, no crate. I need to get the dimensions of the top. I dont want to be off, so that when it is cut here...it fits and does not allow shifting and damage to the top. We are on the same page. (3/2/2007)
