Question: That is a lot of hay but I can do it for $30 per roll, $18 per roll with a back haul. Hauling 22 rolls per load or $8500 for all of them. after 10/8/07,if you are interested please contact me. GJ&CJ (9/22/2007)

Response: I am very interested in the $18 per roll via back hauling. I have 170 rolls still there paid for. 100 at the same place hard committed but not paid for and another 100 on soft committ. ALL hay will be paid for prior to hauling. He will load and the farm where it will be delivered will unload. UNLESS your trailer is small enough to make it back to my place in which case I will unload. What will you be driving and how long is your trailer? (9/22/2007)

Response: I am not sure what via means, but you do have a back haul. Is this correct? My rig is a RAM 3500 with dual weels, pulling a 32ft. goose neck trailer. GJ&CJ (9/22/2007)

Response: via is by means of, method of, way of, and so on.
No I do not have a back haul. I would want the hay to be brought here by back haul in order to get a cheaper bid. I would be willing to take a small load if necessary to share the trailer with some other freight.
Your rig could probably haul 22 rolls. It MIGHT be able to get all the way back to my place instead of unloading at a neighbors farm down the road. IF that is true, I would pay a bit more for the extra five miles as I could the unload here instead of there and haveing to reload it on a flatbed to get up here.
If we made a deal I could meet you at his place and drive you up here so that you could decide if you could make it or not. (9/23/2007)

Response: There are next to no loads from surounding headed to AR.nothing serious. Those dead heading miles would kill me. I think for round trip $25 per roll is the lowest I could come. Think it over. GJ&CJ (9/23/2007)

Response: Thank you for your interest but 25 a roll is more then I can afford. These would be dead heads FROM Ark to this area or even further East. (9/23/2007)

Response: I would have to dead head from TN. to AR. since there are no loads coming that way. It would be $16.50 per roll for fuel and rig wear. My time is worth more than $3.00 an hour. so I can do it for $18 per roll with loads going from TN. to AR. or $25 per roll round trip. I will be there if you need me. GJ&CJ (9/23/2007)

Response: the 25 a roll puts it at 50 a ton for shipping alone. A bit out of my ball park. Had 30 rolls delivered for 15 a roll by sharing the trailer on a back haul. Need something close to that to make it economical. Unless, of course, you want to buy same REAL expensive beef? LOL Thanks, and if you do find any loads from tn to ark think of me for bring the hay this way and that load back. (9/23/2007)

Response: OK I will keep you in mind. Thanks for the reply. GJ&CJ (9/23/2007)

Question: how soon do you need these bales do you want them all at once? i can haul 34-36 on my flat bed and 16-20 on my gooseneck. we can accomodate one trip a week or we can stay till all bales are moved. looking at 32 a bale delivered and tarped if needed. check out our pictures. goose (9/23/2007)

Response: In the process of having a hay barn built. Hay must be dropped off at neighbors farm 5 miles down the mountain as my road too narrow and curves too sharp to bring a long trailer in. Can only store so many down there at a time so really need to wait until my barn is completed, or nearly so. Although the gooseneck might be able to bring them all the way up, in which case I could store them on a vacant field for a time.
You ask good questions. A trip a week is good enough, regardless of which trailer you use.
Do NOT need to have them tarped as they are net wrapped and tightly packed. Also extremely dry so rain would not hurt them.
IF you use the gooseneck I would meet you at my neighbors and drive you up here so you could check out the road yourself. Then you could drop them off down there or bring them all the way. I would be willing to pay a bit more if brought all the way of course. (9/23/2007)

Response: just let me know how you are coming along, we can bring in the semi and we have two goosenecks would be a little more work but we could load all three and deliver straight to your place just on the goosenecks a extra 20 for fuel we can unload off the semi and onto the goosenecks. whatever works for you we are interested
thanks Goose (9/23/2007)

Response: Thanks Goose. Good thought about the pallets but they will not stay outdoors long. Expect barn to be completed by end of Oct. Builder has another business and is doing it part time but still have fingers crossed! LOL And condition of hay not that critical since I will be putting it into a vertical mixer and grinding it up.
32 a roll is way out of my price range. Those who have said 25 are still a bit out but closer. Need to get down to below 20 to make it economical. (9/23/2007)

Question: are you still looking to have the bail of hay delivered. it looks like you have around 300 bails. Let me know I will be leaving on Mon to head from stl to Georgia I can head you way if you still need help with delivery. (10/26/2007)

Response: Have over 400 there now! dang things are breeding I think! LOL
how many can you bring and what rate? (10/26/2007)

Response: Well it all depends on how much the hay weighs per bundle. I will have a 26 ft box truck with a gross weight of 26,000lbs. I would Imagine that I could take 200-300 at a time. I can do for 2.50 a bail. (10/26/2007)

Response: These are 4 x 5 round bales that weigh in the neighborhood of 850 to 950 depending on how dry they are. (10/26/2007)

Question: I seen in your resonse to another hauler that $25.00 a bail is a lil more than you can afford and that is what i had quoted you. If I can go half between the $18- $25 a bail and do it for 21.50 a bail for all of it. the thing that is gonna kill is that fuel is up again and becomes harder to do for any less than that. (10/26/2007)

Response: Sounds like we may be able to strike a deal. How many bales can you haul at a time and how long is your truck? I ask about the lenght to see if you can make it all the way up here. Narrow road plus curves. That would save unloading at a farm 5 miles down the mountain and then having to load on a 30 foot flat bed gooseneck to bring them up.
(10/26/2007)

Response: I will have a 26ft box truck with lift gate. I am not sure on how wide it is. I am thinking that I could get about 12-18 at a time. (10/26/2007)

Response: You are going to need 18 to make it profitable for you. figure 800 round trip miles. If 10 MPG that is 80 gallons of diesel at 3 a gallon or 240. Motel room at 50. If you are using gas instead of diesel a bit better since that is cheaper right now. I can haul 22 on the 30 ft flat bed or about 14 a roll but for that difference I would say do it. Suppose you try the first load and see how it goes. IF you can hold that price and still make a profit fine. (10/26/2007)

Response: That will work fine for me. I will place a bid for say 18 and all you will have to do is accept it. (10/27/2007)

Response: Okay. I see the bid and will accept, conditional on 18 rolls at that price. If fewer, less if more, will pay more. good enough? (10/27/2007)
