Additional Information:
The pictures are not the actual van. The actual van is almost identical, if not exactly the same. I need it brought from Lake Charles Louisiana to Jacksonville Florida. It has been sitting for close to 4 years and would need a little gas and a battery to start it. The tires are all up except one inner rear wheel. It does hold air, just has a slow leak. The trip should be pretty much a straight shot across Interstate 10, with no small town, low overpass bridges to deal with.
Questions for this shipment:
Question:
Hello Shipper! We're leaving to Florida this weekend! We have a spot left for your item! Give us this opportunity! Thanks! (5/9/2008)
Response:
How much is the TOTAL? I been reading on this site some, and seems like there is charges for multiple things that are not stated up front. USHip charges, insurance charges, etc. Let me know ALL the details and we might have a deal. Also, is there a way to see what you plan on hauling this van on and with? I am not doubting you or your equipment or expertise, just curious. This weekend is fine with me, but it doesn't have to be. It has been in Lake Charles for quite some time. Best Regards, Johnny (5/9/2008)
Response:
Your total will be $930, from this amount U-ship will deduct a deposit that is their comission from the transaction, the remaining you pay me. You can pay using money order, cashier's check or cash. You can pay at delivery or 40% on pick up and the remaining on delivery, if you're the shipper, you can send the money via Wire transfer or Money gram. Thank you (5/9/2008)
Response:
What about some of the scary stories I have read about on this site, mainly about INSURANCE, DOT Impounding somebodys vehicle because a carrier didn't have permits, etc? Bear with me, I don't know ANYTHING about the trucking business. I don't need any "problems" with any of the "law-dawgs" on the highways. On the money part, I will pay upon delivery. I am still interested in what you are going to haul this van on. Best Regards, Johnny (5/9/2008)
Response:
I can pick it up this weekend, you can pay at delivery. Do you still have any questions? We're coming from Texas to Fort Lauderdale. Our account is new, but we've been doing this for over 10 years... (5/9/2008)
Question:
All of those scary stories happen when they use an irregular commercial truck. Mine is not commercial, is a big truck with a 2/3 car trailer... flat bed. And I can send a condition report at the pick up. (5/9/2008)
Question:
Are you still looking for shipment? We're coming down today, we have to match it so I can arrange our schedule to pick up your car. Thank you! Give us this opportuninty (5/10/2008)
Response:
I am still wanting the van in Florida. I am currently trying to get in contact with the guy where the van is parked. They are not really open to the "public", but the van is accessable. I just want them to be aware that some one may be picking it up. We don't need any problems. What time is the very latest you will have to know? I am on or around the computer most of the time and will keep checking until I hear back from you. Johnny (5/10/2008)
Response:
We're gonna be in LA around 5PM... what is latest that we can pick up? we just need to know so we don't take any other jobs. We're getting another itemin LA... and your car. Let me know... As soon as you match it, you'll see my phone# and we can make arrangements. Thanks! (5/10/2008)
Response:
I haven't had any luck so far on getting in touch with the guy. I am currently trying to find his cell number. The van is parked at a stoarge facility, which is also an asphalt yard/office. The guy also lives on the premises, but is out of town quite a bit. The lady that works there is not available on Saturday or Sundays. I am trying because I want this to work out. (5/10/2008)
Question:
Hi May be interested in your move providing it can be driven to its destination. Thank You Bill (5/10/2008)
Response:
It has been sitting for 4 years and I would be scared to put someone be in a position to get broke down between the 2 places. I wouldn't be able to do much about it from my end. I appreciate the offer though. (5/10/2008)
Question:
nk you for your response and no problem. Bill (5/10/2008)
Question:
Just a friendly observation: Johnny, you're right on target insisting on DOT/MC and *commercial* insurance. ANY vehicle transporting anything in exchange for money is considered a commercial vehicle subject to DOT regulation and required to carry commercial insurance. Commercial insurance providers will provide you with a certificate of insurance issued in your name, free of charge. uShip recommends that you verify a transporter's credentials, which you can do on the DOT website at http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/CompanySnapshot.aspx. And, yeah, DOT will impound equipment transported without DOT numbers and commercial insurance. Good luck with your shipment! (5/10/2008)
