Questions for this shipment:

Question: Exactly what town in Il. do you want this trailer delivered? I will be in Sweetgrass Mt. delivering a 5th wheel and could pick up this trailer on or about the 27th. I also have the goosenect hitch. I am a legal, permitted hauler MC#571484 & dot # 1534690. Please ck my feedback. Can do this for 1600 including cargo ins. Let me know and I will place a bid. Thank You: Doc (2/22/2007)
Response: We live near Carbondale, IL but could be willing to travel to meet you somewhere convenient for you. (2/22/2007)
Question: Will this trailer be registered? Will the dealer provide at Transport plate if trailer is not registered. I am based 45 minutes from Billings and I am a LEGAL hotshot business - you can check me out here. montanamac (2/22/2007)
Response: We are purchasing the trailer from a private individual and we won't be able to get plates for the trailer until we get it. It is my understanding that the transporter would be able to provide "drive away" plates until we can assume possession of the trailer. Please correct me if I am wrong. I have never been involved in something like this and don't know what the rules and regulations are. If I need to, I could ask if the seller would be willing to allow us to keep the plates until it is delivered. (2/22/2007)
Question: If you do a search my user name hase to be spelled MontanaMac or the company name is High Country Hotshot Thanks Mac (2/22/2007)
Question: I could deliver it straight to you but would need you to see if the person your buying it from will let you use the tag as I don't have a drive away and the port of entries require a tag or temp. plate, copy of regristration & bill of sale. I wouldn't worry about it except with signs painted on the trailer I have to stop at all port of entry's or face getting the truck and your trailer imponded should the dot stop me. If the seller can supply these items(tag, copy of registration, & bill of sale) then I can do this. With pickup the 27 or 28th. Thanks : Doc (2/22/2007)
Response: The seller said he would be willing to leave the plates on the trailer and we could mail them back to him. Would your quote cover insurance? (2/23/2007)
Question: Hello: Thanks for the comeback. Yes we include up to 50,000 cargo insurance in the quote. As I stated I could pick it up the 26th or 27th and deliver before the 1st. I will place a bid. It will also include the price of any permit to cross state lines on the trailer at no extra charge. Thank You: Doc (2/23/2007)
Question: Have you already received a bill of sale for this trailer? If so in Montana (per the county court) once the bill of sale is signed the trailer cannot be run on the sellers plates. If the bill of sale hasn't been signed or title signed over it can be run on the sellers plate. Please let me know. I can get a temporary plate for the trailer to transport it (if bill of sale has been issued to you)and could pick it up Monday the 26th. Once I know the status I will place a bid as I live 45 mins from Billings. MontanaMac (2/23/2007)
Response: No, we have not yet received a bill of sale. I have sent an initial deposit to the seller and depending on when shipping will occur, I will either mail a check for the remainder or do a wire transfer for the balance. Seller will be giving all the paperwork to the shipper so they will have the necessary documents. Would your quote include insurance for the trailer? The seller is hoping to remove the decals this weekend. If there are no decals on the trailer, will stops at all port of entries be necessary? (2/23/2007)
Question: [removed] (2/24/2007)
Question: Hello: I am cancelling my bid for now but if you can wait until the 3rd or so I will rebid as soon as I know my trailer for Mt. is ready to go. Thank You and I still hope to be of service to you. Doc (2/24/2007)
Response: Please do check back as I'm fairly certain the trailer won't be ready for pickup until the 28th. What would your delivery date be if you picked up around the 3rd? Is your bid price negotiable? We are willing to drive a couple hours towards you to help with the delivery price. If the seller is uneasy about leaving the plates, will that be a problem (hoping the decals will be removed)? Thank you for your interest. (2/24/2007)
Question: Yes even though the decals have been taken off the trailer I still have my truck lettered with business name and DOT numbers and yes my quote would cover the insurance. I now have to wait until MOnday morning to place a bid as I am waiting on word to a load going to Denver. Will let you know by 9:00 AM Mnt Time Monday morning. MontanaMac (2/24/2007)
Question: Montana does not issue any type of "transporter plate" mso if trailer is not registered I would buy a $3.00 tag with your name listed as the owner. I would need a copy of bill of sale. Mac (2/24/2007)
Response: Thank you for your interest. We won't be able to get a copy of the bill of sale until at least Tuesday or Wednesday (have to wait for the bank transfer to go through). What are your MC and DOT #s? Do you have any references? What are you thinking your bid might be? (2/24/2007)
Question: If I picked up the 3rd it would be delivered in two days. I may be able to pick up a day or two earlier depending on the Mt. delivery. I hope the decals are off by then. I could adjust the price by 100 if that would help. What with uship costs, fuel, insurance & permits I can't do any better than that. Thank you: Doc (2/24/2007)
Response: I'm waiting on a call back from the seller about the decals. When I talked with him yesterday, he said he was going to try to take them off this weekend (depending on MT weather). When/if they are removed, I will update the listing. If they are off at pickup, will you still require the current owner's plates? ANY price adjustment would be GREATLY appreciated! (2/24/2007)
Question: I must chime in here. The decals are not an issue here. ANY load that is hauled for money is a commercial load and needs to be treated as such. Transporters will have or can get transport plates that are good for moving trailers, campers, boats, as well as driveaway items. EVERY paid load needs to follow the federal and state DOT rules, which include stopping at weigh stations and ports of entry. These are very easy stops and take about 30 seconds unless there is a line. There is no need for a bill of sale for the driver! he didn't buy it! Transporters use a bill of lading which they will fill out before driving away with the load. This gives them the legal right to have the item hooked up while it is in transit. I know that this will get "lagged" but this is important info that you as a shipper should know. Please ask any questions you have about this, I hope that I have shed some light on this matter. If you would like to confirm this please call your local state patrol. (2/24/2007)
Response: Thank you for all the info! What are all the items that a driver needs in order to transport this trailer from state to state? Is a title even necessary for the driver to have? So, if the decals are not removed and the seller doesn't want to leave the current license plates on, this shouldn't be a problem? I am so confused!!! (2/24/2007)
Question: I will do my best to answer your questions. First, You and the seller are the only people that should have the title, a driver never needs it. The company you use to transport may have a contract with you, and will have a bill of lading for the item in tow. You may request proof of insurance after you accept a bid. The seller should not leave his plates on it. They are no good for you as a buyer or the transporter. The decals are nothing to the transporter, it is up to you whether they stay on or not. The transporter will need to have a current DOT# and MC# to transport across state lines, a copy of inspection of the trailer(transporter will do this) log book in the truck that is up to date, his truck will have been inspected within the last year, and also misc other items in the truck for the DOT officer should he get stopped or inspected. I truly hope that this helps some, and again, The dept. of transportation in your state will be happy to answer any other questions. you may have (2/24/2007)
Response: Thanks again for explaining this to me. I guess my first mistake was calling my local driver's license branch instead of the DOT. The DMV told me that I had to get the title ahead of time, apply for the plates, and then ship them to the driver. They never told me of any of these options (maybe they just didn't know!). You really have cleared a lot of issues up for me. (2/24/2007)
Question: Hello: I can get a transport tag for the trailer but will need the serial # for them to put on it. I also have bill of lading to fill out at pickup. There is no reason any driver would need the title. I carry all the paperwork for some of the rv's I haul but it is not needed and not recommended. I only wanted a copy of the bill of sale made out to you in case they asked for proof of ownership at the port. Removal of the decals are just something the sellers usually do. I delivered trucks for Ryder Truck Rental for 10 years and they always removed the decals as it was no longer they're vehicle. This was to protect them from any lawsuits in case of an accident. I hope you are not too confused. The person who gave you the info is 100% correct. If you want me too I will still move the trailer around the 3rd for you and will place a bid. Thanks: Doc (2/26/2007)
Question: Thursday or Friday would work best for me. My numbers are DOT: 1580315 MC: 585129 You can check my profile here either by my user name: MontanaMac or by the business name:High Country Hotshot I have been hauling for large companies and this will be my first Uship load. I carry $1 Million liability insurance and $750,000 cargo insurance. My insurance company will issue a certificate showing you as the insured if you wish. I would need a copy of the bill of sale only for the purpose of purchasing a $3.00 transport plate. Monatna will NOT issue it to me. It is done on case by case basis and is issued to the owner of the trailer. My bid would be around $1,425.00 and would cover all expenses - no further charges would be billed to you (this would not included necessary repairs for the trailer, i.e. a flat tire) If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Even if we cannot get this done and you use someone else protect yourself and make sure they are LEGAL. MonatanMac (2/26/2007)
Question: we supply our own transport plate so you won't need to get one or pay someone to get it for you. i will be in douglas wy. march 3rd and could get trailer by the 5th at latest. will this work for you? thanks gil891 (2/26/2007)
Response: Waiting on the money to be transfered before we can make final arrangements with the seller. Your schedule might fit our needs. Thanks! (2/26/2007)
Question: Hi This is JV Auto Transport, I'll be in Montana dropping off a boat and and interested in transporting your trailer. I would like to know the rating of the trailer. Thanks, Joe. (2/26/2007)
Response: Not sure what you mean by rating (I'm new to this trailer shipping!). The trailer would be empty and is less than 5000 pounds. Does this help? Thanks! (2/26/2007)
Question: Hi JV AUTO TRANSPORT here, What I meant was what is the gross vehicle weight rating on the trailer. What weight will your plates be rated for? I only ask because I transport with dually pickups and some items require a CDL license to transport. I have not placed a bid yet due to timeframe I will be in MT in around three weeks? Thanks Joe. (2/26/2007)
Response: The GVW when full is approximately 14000. However, this trailer will be empty when delivered. I believe the weight is less than 5000. There will be NO plates on the trailer when picked up by the shipper. I would need the transporter to provide plates for the trip. (2/26/2007)
Question: Hello: I can still do this for you with pickup the 5th or 6th and delivery in 2 days. I will get a temp tag at no extra cost to you. Let me know if I'm still considered and I will bid 1500 including tag, tolls if any, cargo insurance to cover the trailer. Thank You: Doc (2/27/2007)
Question: I will be leaving Thuraday 3-1-07 for Douglas Wyoming with a boat. We have an in-transit plate to transport your trailer. Hope you are able to accept our Bid by 2-28-07 or I will have to secure an alternate backhaul. Thanks, gil891 (2/27/2007)
Response: Could you provide references? If bid is accepted, what day do you think you would be in Montana to pick it up? (2/27/2007)
Question: i can supply references if needed. i will be in wyoming on saturday the 3rd and could be in billings on the 5th at the latest. i am leaving on the 1st. for douglas,wy. hope to hear from you. gil891 (2/27/2007)
