When would you be able to pick it up? I need to coordinate with my sister in-law's work schedule (its who's garage its in. Given the all around glass and the legs its on (see pic) would you agree that it should ship upright at its 5ft dimension?
I would be able to give your sister-in-law and exact date for pick up by Friday or Saturday. I understand that she works, so we would try to pick up either before she leaves for work, or when she comes home. Regarding the way to transport it; we would either lay it on its side, or turn it upside down. Sometimes the crown slides out, or is removable with just a few screws. We've transported numerous pieces like this and we always know what to do once we could see it and inspect it in person. Let me know if there is anything else that I could help you with.
There's a little bit a of a rub here. I placed the 3 glass shelves on the bottom of tteh cabinet, then some padding and packed a my father in-laws flag case in that surrouned by even more padding (you can see that stuff in the pic). The rub is I locked the cabinet and took the key with us when we left Dallas Tues afternoon. If your recomending on side or inverted is best way to travel. I need to FedEx the key back to my sister in-law.
It's tough to say without inspecting the piece in person. If we could determine that the legs are strong enough to hold the top, then it could actually stay on it's legs. I took a closer look at the piece and noticed that it has casters, which is a good thing. When strapped to the wall of the truck, a piece will move, very slightly, back and forth, and side to side. If a piece has legs like yours, they will drag as the piece shifts. However, your piece would roll, which significantly decreases the stress on the legs. We would know for certain once we see it. The key would certainly be nice, but we could do without it. Worst case, we could stack about 2 - 3 couch cushions underneath it, so that the legs never touch the floor and it transports on a big pillow the whole way.
My sister in-laws boss is coming in so she's lost some flexiblity. Her Tues and Weds are out. Can you pickup Sun afternoon/evening; early Monday before 830a, or we need to look at Thurs, Friday.
Sorry for the delayed response. I hadn't planned our trip that far in advance yet, and I had to do that before answering your question. It looks like we should be in position to pick up on Wednesday evening. It looks like that won't work for you. Sorry about that.
We can make Weds evening work. I take it thats the latest day in the week you can pick up or in the afternoons Thurs Fri (next week?
Unless we happen to get delayed, that would be the latest day that we could pick up.
Got another update just now, my sister is not available after Weds until the following week so for you we'd have to make it Weds-19 evening. Unless you could look at Sunday-16 or Monday-17.
Yes, the evening of 1/19 would be good.

Are you availalble for pickup after 330p, today, Thurs or Fri?
I'm in Los Angeles right now and will be departing for Texas this afternoon. I will be in the Dallas area between Saturday/Sunday and Tuesday.
OK. I'm checking with my sister inlaw to see if she's not out of town Sat/Sun. Given the fact the cabinet is on those legs but is glass all the way around do yo agree that it should ship upright?
It depends on how delicate the legs are. I handle these types of items on a regular basis. When you see how it is prepared for transport I'm sure you will be pleased. I also service the glass/mirror glazier style.
OK, note that I placed the 3 glass shelves on the bottom of the cabinet, then some padding and packed a my father in-laws flag case in that surrounded by even more padding (you can see that stuff in the pic). On the wife's request I locked the cabinet and took the key with us when we left Dallas Tues afternoon. If need to travel it any other way, safely as its fragile, I need to FedEx the key back to my sister in-law so the interior contents can be removed. Which kinda introduces the unstable element what happens if it teh key gets lost in send. Thoughts?
I can work with it the way it is . It would be a good idea to ship the key back right away. It's not good if the glass is sitting flat in the cabinet. It should be on edge.
