Additional Information: We need to ship several estate items to various family members across the country and are hoping to consolidate it in one shipment. Looking for someone who could drop off items in Bay Area (two houses within 10 minutes of each other); LA; San Antonio, TX; and Reston, VA (also two houses within 10 minutes of each other). Will consider multiple shipments and multiple movers, if necessary, and also LTL carriers. Pick-up time of items in Seattle (Mercer Island) is firm; we are flying up to the house to pack up items and are available for shipping them April 10-14 only. Would like full-service shipping, as most of the furniture is antique and needs special care in packing/loading. There are a few heavier items like dressers and tables, but no stoves/fridges/hide-a-beds or the like (only one mattress for full bed). All boxes will be packed by owners and ready to ship. Arrival time for the items is flexible, as long as we have several days’ notice ahead of time to arrange for someone to be home to receive shipment. Report a Violation

Questions for this shipment:

Question: i can do all the shipments for 7000 (4/3/2008)
Response: That's a little on the high end of what we were expecting to pay, but we also need to know what is a reasonable bid. Our target price might not be realistic (which is why we did not post it), and want to get several bids in order to know what is an average for a shipment like ours, which is different from other Point A to Point B shipments we have seen on uShip. We will choose among all bids what fits both our price and expectations for delivery. A more experienced driver with positive feedback is preferred to one with little experience or too many negative comments; we are willing to pay a little more for experience and quality. Your profile looks pretty good, so please leave a bid and we will get back to you later. (4/3/2008)
Response: if you want a person to do all those stops..thats alot of gas..for me to do it im looking at around 4000 in gas to come to seattle make all those stops and come back home....if youre flexible on delivery..i could do it cheaper (4/3/2008)
Response: We are flexible on delivery, but we would need to know a few days in advance when to expect items so that someone could be available to receive the shipment. (4/3/2008)
Response: i could do that no problem..i am very helpful and fair..i can let each destination know 2 to 3 days in advance,,,im easy to get a hold of 2, 3 am it doesn't matter to me.. (4/3/2008)
Question: I could deliver all in a rented moving truck (u-haul, etc). One man and a truck. My role would be driver, and help load and unload. Would there be help to load and unload? What size of uHaul would you need? Which items go to VA? Please check my feedback and let me know if interested in this method and I will bid. (4/3/2008)
Response: We have a couple family members who have already offered to rent a truck and move the items, but we are hoping to find someone who has some experience moving antique furniture (and who has the right truck and equipment to do so). Thank you for your offer, though. You have raised some good questions, and I will answer them for anyone else who may be interested: Yes, you will have some help loading and unloading. We are a family of helper-types and would probably have a hard time sitting back and letting someone else do all the work. We would need a truck at least 24ft long, I would assume, with the ability to secure individual items so that they don't shift; one smaller might work, but we don't want to crowd items and have them damage each other. The beds (one double mattress only), 2-3 dressers, 2 smaller tables, 1 larger table (possibly), 1 chair, 2 mirrors, several boxes and other smaller items will be heading all the way to VA. (4/3/2008)
Response: Most of my antique moves are done one or two pieces at a time, with a van. If you end up going with the rental truck, I'd recommend renting several of the furniture pads/blankets as well. I asked about VA because my thoughts on rental truck was to do one-way from WA to San Antonio, then rent a smaller one-way truck from San Antonio to VA (if it would be cheaper, and not too much hassle to handle the items again). It looks like you're getting some interest from professional movers (which I am not). If things don't materialize as planned, please feel free to request a bid from me. I wish you well on this move. Thanks. Steve (4/3/2008)
Response: Thank you! And best of luck with future bids. Heather (4/3/2008)
Question: i live in california..so if you dont think you will accept the bid please let me know..cause then i want waste my time trying to find something this way to bring up there to washington ..thank you (4/3/2008)
Response: I need to confer with my family first; please be patient. Thanks! (4/3/2008)
Response: thats no problem..its just that your move date are not far away and if you accepted the bid i dont want to come from california without a load..plus theres always a chance that other bids i put out on other shipments might want to go on the dates that you want and if they accept then i would have to cancel your bid...if i cancel your bid that will be the reason why..cause i accepted another job on your dates....anyway take care and i wish you luck even if it aint me moving you (4/3/2008)
Response: Thank you, Robert. I realize that we are putting you in a bit of a predicament and don't want any of your other bids to be affected because of it. Since I will likely not get a response today from the family members who have the most say (and by that I mean the ones who are footing the majority of the bill), and since I don't want you spending too much time researching additional jobs until I can give you a clear yes or no on your bid, I will decline your current offer. Please realize that this in no way reflects a dissastifaction with you or your bid amount; it's just that I am not in a position to make this decision today. I hope that you will let me contact you again when/if I get the go-ahead from the other family members and that you will place another bid if you are in a position to do so. Thanks again for your interest and patience! Heather (4/3/2008)
Response: Hi Heather,,,i wanted you to know..that your things would be in a enclosed trailer,,the size of a medium uhaul...so you things would be the only items in there..it want be loaded and unloaded...i would pad all furniture...ive been a professional mover as well as a trainer and manager of major moving companies in my lifetime..now i do it on my own..i have moved millionares to people that really couldnt afford to get there things moved ..to people who had trashy furniture that should have been thrown away..furniture that it would have been cheaper to throw away and get new stuff...but i treat everyone thing no matter ho expensive or cheap ..the same..with alot of care..so if you want the things moved and not transfered from truck to truck..then im your man..if you want it done between those dates then you really need to get your family to decide..cause i like to help people out even if they don't choose me..so somer advice..the longer you wait..you put yourself in a bad situation (4/5/2008)
Question: If I can pick up on the 20th I can do for 6800.00. Read my profile and feedback. Thanks (4/3/2008)
Response: Thank you, Thomas, for your interest. I had seen your profile when I was researching more about uShip and had considered asking you to bid on our listing, so I am pleased that you did without my needing to! However, I don't think the 20th will work for us since no one from the family will be there at that time. There is a caretaker who lives at the house, but I don't know if she would be able to tell you which item is going where; she also wouldn't be able to assist with the loading as she cannot lift or carry anything heavy right now. One of us could fly up, but that would just add to the total price of the move, and as it is you have quoted a higher price than our previous bid. So, at this time, I think we'd have to say no. If anything opens up for you and you are able to make it between the 10th and 14th, we would certainly consider a bid from you. Please let us know. (4/4/2008)
Response: Hello, I would still like to do your shipment and I think that I can get you to see some things my way. First if we can agree on a dat that is near the 20th I can provide a full service load and unload to were the care taker would not have to do anything but open the property. I have access to a 4 man crew everywhere I go so loading and unloading is not a issue. As for someone flying out to help no worries we can set up a shipment invoice that shows what items goes to what places thru email. I offer really good service and a stress free system of doing things to were I help releive some of the stress of moving your shipment. As for the price you will get what you pay for and that is great service with fast delivery from a established company. So with me it equals no stress no plane rides and reliability. With the next guy who knows? Hope to hear from you as I will answer any futher questions you may have. Also if you work with me on the dates I will work with you on the money! (4/4/2008)
Response: Please put in your bid. As you can see we have two other active bids at this time; we are considering all options. I like that you are willing to work with us despite our schedule, but I still have to deliberate with the family about the pros and cons of each bid. In all fairness to you (and others who are bidding, too), I want to let you know we are waiting to hear from the executor of the estate who is looking into another shipping option. I doubt that we will get the kind of service or price that we are looking for through this other source, but we also don't want to make a decision before we have explored all our options. If we don't hear back by today from the executor, however, I think the family in all likelihood will make a decision from available bids this weekend. Hope you (and the others) can wait until then. And thank you for your willingness to help out! (4/4/2008)
Response: I see the other bids listed below and I do not think that they no of the other stops along the way to the final destination. Total fuel one way is 4,200 and that is not including labor and days of travel along with mileage. I will bid 6300.00 and that will include all stops all labor and guarnteed not to change in price. As for the other shipping means let everyone in your family know that not only am I the owner of my little company but I am the one that does all the driving and labor. Personal service not a officce person who will send out a crew that do not realy care about there job as I do. Bid is posted below. Thanks (4/5/2008)
Question: I see your online and I just got back from Washington State and Mercer Island was a pick up point...Mar with OnTheMoveForYou...I'd like to chat if your interested in my services and book this so in can make a plan and work around your load with others and take care of your move for you... Mark (4/4/2008)
Response: We are stil interested; we're just having to make a decision as a group, which takes a little longer (as you probably well know). We hope to have a decision made by tomorrow. See my response to QU1CKSH1P above. Thank you for your patience! Heather (4/4/2008)
Response: It's all good and let me know what you need from me... OnTheMoveForYou, Mark (4/4/2008)
Question: I noticed that your are concerned about full coverage insurance and I wanted to pass along what my ALLSTATE agent told me. She said that in the US household goods from homeowners or tenants are insured while traveling anywhere in the world for 30 days and that if items arein storage, then they are only insured at 10 %. So if you were to buy something in ebay it may not be insured but things from your own household are. (4/4/2008)
Response: Thanks for sharing that information, Jackie; I don't know if that's a nation-wide policy or if it's just part of Allstate's plan. When my mom talked with her homeowner's insurance, they said that the furniture was only protected against fire or theft, not scratches, dings or other damages caused by shipment, and that we would need to purchase additional coverage for moving the items. (4/5/2008)
Response: It is an American Standard because it was told to me for my very first customers in uShip who were moving here from Canada and over there is different. I wonder if furniture is protected againts scratches while being used at home. (4/5/2008)
Response: Wouldn't that be nice! I have two toddlers; is there insurance against damage done by them? (4/5/2008)
Question: I'd like to see if I can get a commitment as I'd shop a bid to go to Seattle tomorrow and not turn in my leased penske tonight...I just got back to town and was going to do office work and house things but would change gears and start towards you. When you book we can talk as well have each others information... Mark (4/5/2008)
Response: Oh, how I would love to get this resolved tonight, as I feel terrible about leaving people hanging, especially when time, work and schedules are concerned; but, as I mentioned earlier, I am the one organizing this, not the one in charge, and it is not up to me to make this decision. I am so sorry to keep you waiting. The family is spread out on both coasts (and in the middle) and so getting emails read and replied to in a swift manner is not always easy. I hope that you can wait until tomorrow when I will have feedback from all the family regarding the possibility of crating and sending out the items in individual shipments. Thank you! (4/5/2008)
Response: Let me know if you'd like to use me when you know....It's all good... Mark Mark (4/5/2008)
Question: It's late...I'm going to turn the truck in...I can always pick it up again....The key s to book though so I have time to load drive and unload to get to you and so by Monday would be good for the person you pick...Logistics you know.... Mark (4/5/2008)
Response: I know all about logistics! Your understanding is appreciated. Hope the return of the truck didn't inconvenience you at all. (4/5/2008)
Response: Just got back and about 7 miles one way is all...I needed to pick up my car anyway but let me know... Mark (4/5/2008)
Question: I see more bids and Quickship looks good with myself as your top provider.CODusa is Dan Bishop and he was suspended from uship under uscontainer and started this sight and has not been found out yet...I'm from Washington State originally and planned to move out there and work with Dan but left last week when he was very mean spirited. He seams to want to follow my bids around and mess...I own my own 26' Bekins truck and Lease Penske trucks when running out of state FYI.... Dan's in a Penske lease truck after switching from Budget when I got him a better deal on his lease. So when you look at his comments you'll understand where he's comming from...He is a capable mover though I just prefer to work with nice people as life is precious... I just want to take care of good customers and I think your situation I've solved but the others will follow now that there's a plan.... (4/5/2008)
Response: Thank you for your input; I declined his bid based on his lack of feedback, but I appreciate your alerting me to a possible negative experience. (4/5/2008)
Response: I'll keep price and hope you still like my services... OnTheMoveForYou, Mark (4/5/2008)
Question: you wait to long to book and might not find someone on those dates..or someone might charge you even more..you got some bids from people with good feedback..so thats a plus..but youre risking a chance of them or me getting another move booked on those dates..also..can you give me a list of what things go to what states?,,thankyou and God Bless (4/5/2008)
Response: Robert, thank you for your concern and interest. You helped to make my first experience with uShip a positive one. We have decided to go with another bidder, but will keep you in mind for any future moves. Good luck with your other bids! Heather (4/5/2008)
Response: ok no prob.. i wish you luck (4/5/2008)
Question: What's your status today? OnTheMoveForYou, Mark (4/5/2008)
Response: This is what I am doing right now: compiling bids, researching insurance, factoring in tip, adding them up, dividing by seven, emailing family members with totals. Waiting for green or red lights. Whatcha doin? (4/5/2008)
Response: I was organizing laundry from being on road, making calls to other clients for logistics, rode my bike to the bank & back...I just took apart a crate and saved it for a shipment and cleaning out my garage some......How's the red light green light? I've got 2 bids ready to book and go to Seattle if you use me so I'll leave tuesday and be there for you...Say the word... I'll check back while bouncing around the house... Mark (4/5/2008)
Question: FYI my son lives in Leavenworth,Wa & I graduated in Quincy,Wa 1978...Mark (4/5/2008)
Question: Just to make things a little more firm each drop off location will recieve a phone call and email 24 hours before delivery and be given a 2 hour window of delivery on the day of arrival. Insurance for your shipment will be covered under my 500k cargo insurance. I will cover the items up to that amount in stead of the normal .60 per pound free of charge. Other that that I hope you accept my bid as I feel the challenge of your move makes me want to do it even more and that I am sure you will appreciate along with your family the one on one service that theyu will recieve. (4/5/2008)
Response: Thomas, you are obviously very professional and include that personal touch, which is evident both in your feedback comments and in the limited communication that we have had. Unfortunately, my family has decided that they are not comfortable with the "challenge" of letting someone else do all the work. I hope that you can understand. We will consider you again for any future jobs. Thank you for your interest! (4/5/2008)
Question: Any chance we can book this today? OnTheMoveForYou, Mark (4/5/2008)
