Response: The declared value is $600. We have updated the listing to state that the crate is palatized and a slightly larger size. We can transport the crate to a shipping terminal in Northern VA or Richmond. Linda (9/7/2008)
Response: FYI - shipping under a common carrier's tarrif rate for personal effects with a stated declared value of $600 / 350 lbs is very pricey ... if one opted for a minimum declared value rating & then purchased a primary cargo insurance rider directly yourself, the tarrif rate cost difference would be significant like nearly $200 ... and which is far more than the cost of 3rd party shipping insurance ... would this be preferable to opt for to reduce costs? Response: Just to be clear the total declared value is $600 for everything in the whole container. Does this make a difference? It is not $600 per pound. (9/8/2008)
Response: had understood $600 DV as being amount for the total shipment ... therefore for this DV it would be rated class 200 & about $490 if wanting to ship under common carrier's coverage but, if opting to ship under class 100 (lowest DV rate)instead & buying directly yourself a primary cargo insurance rider, then cost would be around $290 ... a 3rd party cargo insurance rider shouldn't cost $200 for this shipment! ... had also noticed you had indicated your shipment wouldn't be ready till after 23rd ... so will wait till around then to consider ...
