Question: shipper why not let marina prepare your boat for transport since they have the personal, tool, and equipment to do so?
(9/23/2008)

Response: We just purchased this boat from the state agency patrolling Chesapeake Bay, and they have agreed to load onto a trailer or water, our choice. I really think the only parts needing removal are the rigging on top. If we could do it another way, we would be offering it as ready for removal. We also are looking into purchasing our own trailer locally and either having someone or ourselves haul on our trailer. This is an option we aren't looking at too hard because we would rather find a licensed service with insurance. Thanks, David (9/23/2008)

Response: thanks shipper for the responce,we understand your position its just makes more sense to have your vessel done by professional when it come down to removing towers knowing that there is wires and cables involved, you may come out cheaper in the long run.we are professional when it come to transporting.thanks LEWIS SPECIALIZED TRUCKING. (9/23/2008)

Response: For us it makes more sense to do it this way because we want to deal with only one company. We are looking for a professional service that is used to preparing boats on site AND transportation, not just a transportation service. Thank you for your time but we will find the right company or drive up there to move it ourselves. Thanks again, David (9/23/2008)

Response: THANK DAVID AGAIN, LEWIS SPECIALIZED TRUCKING. (9/23/2008)

Response: Thank you, David (9/23/2008)

Question: Hi, we can handle every aspect of your move, we specialize in the removal of bridges and all related componets, and we provide on site shrink wrapping. What is your time frame for making the move? (9/23/2008)

Response: I think the bridge is not too high but the rigging on top simply bolts into place. We would like moved quickly if we get a good price. (9/23/2008)

Response: Hi, our rate for transport will be $2800.00, this includes all permits, tolls and Insurance protection! As far as preparation of the boat, it is done by the hour and I would more details as to what needs to be removed! And you are correct in having one company handle the entire move, this way, the people who take it apart, are the ones putting it back together, intead of having a bunch of inexperianced yard hands, with cutters hacking away at your boats. I can provide shrink wrap, I was wondering why you want to spend the extra money. Please let me know if we are withen your budget, and I will do what ever I can to help You. (9/23/2008)

Response: I really don't have any more info about what to do about removing. We just wanted to get it under 13', 6" high and we aren't sure what will have to be done. We just thought it could be unbolted and laid over (maybe secured from moving around). As for shrinkwrap, what I read on a forum was that it could change the weight for you guys hauling because of catching rain water, etc., and that you preferred wrapping them. It is fine with me if it isn't shrinkwraped. We just want it here in one piece. Here, we'll get it over to our trailer when we buy one. We are at odds and don't know whether to buy a trailer here or drive to MD and buy it, then haul it back ourselves. The cost is a more than we had figured on spending, given we are going to buy a trailer either way. You can give me your best price, but without the shrinkwrap if you want. By the way, what insurance coverage is there for our boat while transporting? Also, what time line can you perform? Thanks, David (9/23/2008)

Response: Hi David, I am the primary carrier for Fountain Power Boats Inc, every boat we move is shrink wrapped, and I can tell you this, there is no benifit other then keeping the boat clean, you would be better off putting the money toward cleaning and waxing. As far as insurance, I have $600,000.00 of cargo protection in place at all times, at no additional charge! As far as the cost to remove anything to reduce height, there are many varibles that come into play, electronics are the main issue! Theres a couple of things you can do you help, take more pictures of the bridge, and have measurements taken from the keel to the top of the bridge! then, I can be a little more accurate with the rate! Keep in mind, $2800 is my rate for transport only! I hope this helps! Thanks, Rich (9/23/2008)

Response: Hi Rich, I am in Alabama so getting getting those measurements and pictures would prove rather impossible. I was told the metal rigging just bolted on. The cables should just lay down when the rigging is layed over, at least that's my understanding, but I don't have any experience with this sort of thing. Anyone like yourself would have had this issue come up many time I would think, so I will have to take your word that it is hard to know how much work is involved. I am not sure we can afford how much this sounds like it will cost. Thanks, David (9/23/2008)

Response: Your in a tuff spot, we have seen some scary things over the years! Tell me this, are we in the ballbark as far as rate to transport her to you? If we were able to communicate, I would call the marina and get a better handle on what is there! I am sure you agree, it would be a mess if I went there to find out things are not as we thought they were! Thas happens a lot in this Industry! (9/23/2008)

Response: We actually were thinking we could get the boat brought to us for less money but think you would probably do a very thorough job. I may call them or find out more some way but for now, that's all we have, except we should be able to get a better price; especially not knowing what is involved with lowering the rigging on top. I am pretty sure it is too tall but we may find out that it doesn't have to be removed, or is very simple. We don't want to create a situation where we waste a drivers time because we weren't as honest and transparent as possible. The boat wasn't that expensive so we want to keep expenses down, given the work and expenses that remains for restoration. I think we can get a better price but thank you. (9/23/2008)

Question: Hi, can you swing 3750.00 transport by this weekend. Thanks, Steve. (9/23/2008)

Response: Hi Steve, We wouldn't accept an offer that high. That rate is definitely not something we can do. Thanks, David (9/23/2008)

Response: Im sorry David, The bid i placed for your boat is for a boat to California:( I can do your s for 2650.00. My apologies, Steve. (9/23/2008)

Response: How many items like this have you moved? Is making a move like this something you are familiar with? And, unbolting the rigging on top for transporting; is that something you're familiar with? As for the price, we think we can get a better price but would like to work something out with a responsible carier soon. Thanks, David (9/23/2008)

Question: I just saw that you want shrinkwrap too. Why? My bid did not include shrinkwrap and you are looking at $400 just for plastic to be thrown away after 2 days of travel. This time of year there is no benefit to shrinkwrapping an older boat. (9/23/2008)

Response: It's fine if it isn't shrink wrapped. We thought carriers preferred wrapping boats for hauling. We just want it here safe and timely. Thanks, David (9/23/2008)

Response: I appreciate the request for a re-bid but I don't tear down boats for transport. You are better off having the marina remove the arch for you than to to get a driver that is still going to need the marinas help to remove the arch. Good luck but I will haul it for $2600. (9/24/2008)

Response: We bought the boat from the Marine Police where it sits now. There is no marina that can do what you need. We want a truck service to do the removal for us, since we don't want to deal with many different phone cals, and companies, especially since we aren't familiar with boats. (9/25/2008)
