Response: I have had quotes for pickup in 1 to 7 days for 750.00 and pickup in 1 to 3 days for 850.00.To this date no one has been able to have a truck in and around the Santa Anna area to pickup the truck.So the chase will be I get a trucker that is in the area or I have to go there and get it myself.I'm fairly new to this and never imagined the intensity of getting a vehicle picked up.I realize now that there are many variables involved in your business. Response: Don't feel alone. There are lots of people in your shoes. They bid or buy a vehicle and then need to move it. Then they crunch the numbers: mileage both directions (in your case almost 2800 miles); fuel costs; meals; lodging; trailer rental or airfare to drive it home (fuel at least one way regardless); travel time and time off work (average travel is about 500 miles a day); wear and tear on you and your vehicle if you trailer it home. Add all this up and a trip of your distance of an actual 1350-1400 miles costs more in expenses than what was bid. Now throw in the brokers who bid and hope to sell your load to whoever will take it for the extra cash because they have an empty space and you can see why there are often times no trucks in an area. We don't bid unless we know we'll be there and can deliver as close to on schedule as possible. And then we need to have a load coming back. Logistical nightmare. Response: And the weather up north is going to get blustery pretty soon. We were just up there a week or so ago. I may be able to get that up to you yet (I'll have my truck in Dallas later this week.). If this is of interest let me know and we'll work on it but I need to find another vehicle so we don't run up to ND with only a single truck and come back empty. I only move 2 vehicles at once so I have to make the most of it. I believe your other 2 haulers that placed a bid are brokers and we are not. We book and haul. U-Ship is the broker and the collect about 14% of the total fees. Anyway, I'd think that the trip north would be about $1200 which is in the area of $.85/mile and that would include U-Ship's fee. I can pick this up and start it on it's way later this week. I also have secure storage so it can sit securely here in Solon, IA while I put the rest of the trip together. Thanks ...
