Questions for this shipment:
Question:
Hi, Will the boat be in a cradle as shown, if so what are the dimensions of the cradle base, and the total height in the cradle. Is your weight correct, or a guess. Have you made arrangements been made for loading and unloading. Does this need to wait until June, or can it be shipped now. I can transport this for you for $2500 Also I am new to uship, but not to shipping. I have been doing it for 30+years. I have verifiable feedback on ebay user qnxcool, thanks (5/8/2006)
Response:
The boat is not on the cradle shown. It's on the water right now, docked at its slip. The 7,000 lbs should be pretty close. I think that Catalina specifies just under 6,900 lbs. At the Scott's Landing marina loading is done on the water. They have a ramp where you can back up your trailer and load the boat. Perry, at PT Rigging is a good resource if you have any questions about loading [phone number removed]. I'll be hiring him to take the mast down. For unloading I have talked to the yard in Waukegan and all I need to do is to firm up the delivery date. I could do an earlier date than June but the pick up would have to be done during the week of May 22nd. The caveat is that Waukegan can only unload the boat either that same week (of May 22nd) or June 5. They are fully booked the week of the Memorial Day holiday. If you pick the boat up, say on May 23, would you be able to have it in Waukegan by Friday morning, May 26? (5/8/2006)
Question:
Hi, I am still interested in this shipment. I can meet your schedule. Just to clarify, I am willing to do this for $2500, you pay to load and unload at marinas on pickup, and delivery. If this works for you I will bid, thanks. (5/10/2006)
Response:
Yes, I'll pay for loading and unloading, however loading needs to be done on the water through the marina ramp. Offloading will be done with a crane. Before you bid please make sure you can provide me with insurance information.Thanks. (5/10/2006)
Question:
If you buy a trailer for this boat I will haul it for you for $1700, there some advantages to owning a trailer for the boat you own. Thanks, Brian (5/12/2006)
Question:
Hi, The insurance information. Ok here is the deal with insurance. I can supply insurance for you at extra cost, depending on the declared value of the boat, But if you currently have good insurance on the boat it is already covered. It is also much much less expensive for you to buy insurance on the boat that it is for me to supply insurance. All that being said, we can insure the boat any way you want. Let me know what you think, we are trying to keep the costs down for you on this shipment; this may help. Thanks Brian (5/15/2006)
Response:
I checked with my insurance company and the boat is covered, however you have to have liability insurance.Thanks. (5/15/2006)
Question:
Hello. I own a sailboat trailer and could do this for you for your target price but I'm not so sure about retreiving the boat out of the water. Can you find out more about the ramp or possibly a crane lift? Thanks, Brian "fsmann" (5/15/2006)
Response:
The only thing I can say is that when the boat was delivered to me in Texas the driver backed up the trailer into the water to offload the boat. To me the ramp looks like a normal boat ramp. Of course you would need to have the appropriate payload to handle the ramp incline. If you need more info than this I suggest you contact the Scott's Landing Marina directly. You should be able to Google then to find their contact information. Thanks. (5/15/2006)
Question:
I am waiting to hear back from them on the ramp situation. My personal boat is on the trailer right. It will be freed up no later than the second week of June. Thanks, Brian "fsmann" (5/15/2006)
Question:
I geuss there is a service company across the street from the marina that does all the in and out work. They were closed today so I will call them tommorrow and get the low down on the ramp. Brian "fsmann" (5/15/2006)
Question:
I talked with the service yard. Here is the deal, they have a truck and a trailer set up that can submerge as far as needed to get a sailboat out. He then brings it across to his A frames where the boat is lifted and the transport trailer can be pulled under. He charges 350 for this. He said a crane would be 550.. Also I need to give him 2 weeks notice this time of year because he is so busy. Thanks, Brian (5/16/2006)
Response:
Hi Brian, so when do you think you would be able to pick the boat up? I'm having the mast stepped down next week so from that stand point I'm going to be ready for loading. However, I need to give notice to the yard in Waukegan and it sounds like the folks across the street from the marina also need notice. Assuming everyone needs a couple of weeks notice, would you be able to pick up during the week of June 30th? (5/16/2006)
Question:
I can put you on the schedule for the weeks of June 20th or 27th, whichever works better for you. Just to clarify, my bid does not include loading or unloading charges. Brian "fsmann" (5/16/2006)
Question:
I will be away from my computer the next day and a half. If you would like to accept my bid you can then reach me on my cell. Thanks, Brian (5/16/2006)
Question:
I'm back in town if you have any further questions. Brian "fsmann" (5/18/2006)
Response:
Hi Brian, is June 20th the earliest you could move the boat? I've hired the marine service place across from the marina to pull the boat out and prep the bottom. The boat should be ready for pick up right after Memorial Day. Would you be able to pick it up sooner? Also, do you have liability insurance that would cover the transport? I have the boat covered but the insurance company tells me I need to hire a carrier that has liability insurance.Thanks. (5/18/2006)
Question:
My boat will be on the trailer about three more weeks. I'm very anxious to complete her and get in the water. I will do my best to pick up by the 20th or before. Yes, I carry 500k in liability insurance. I will supply you with a copy of that policy if necessary. Brian (5/22/2006)
Question:
I was just revising my schedule and I may be ready as early as the 11th or 12th. Brian (5/22/2006)
Response:
Hi Brian, I just accepted your bid but I'm not sure how to contact you. Please let me know what I need to do next. Thanks. (5/22/2006)
