Question: do you need custom clearing in the u.k? (7/24/2008)

Response: Hi
I have just checked & clearance is required. The CIF code is 8708299000 & the duty payable is 4.5% on the cost of the CIF value. VAT will also be payable.
Would you be prepared to arrange this?
Thanks for the question (7/25/2008)

Response: yes we could arrange for this to be cleared in advance. Also, how to you want this shipped? door to door, or port to port. thanks (7/25/2008)

Response: Hi
I didn't know that it could be cleared in advance? How is this possible?
The item would need to be picked up from the address that I gave in the US. Ideally it would be delivered to me but I would consider picking up from a port in the South West of England - say Bristol? I am open & flexible.
Many thanks (7/25/2008)

Response: what will happen is that from the value you put on this shipment we could calulate the duties in the u.k.. so once the shipment gets there it will be cleared by us. will southampton port be okay? (7/25/2008)

Response: Hi
Plymouth is best for me, then Bristol. However, this may not suit you. Southampton is 150 miles from where I live, but I could do it if there is no alternative.
Do I pay you on delivery?
Do you have some business referances - I'm sure you are OK but I haven't imported anything before.
Not sure why I need to pay duty & VAT on a second hand wing anyway - but that's the authorities for you.
Thanks (7/26/2008)

Response: if you could have this sent to my office or warehouse. Which will cost about $20. I could have this sent to your door in the u.k. with all fees, customs and VAT included for $275 (7/26/2008)

Response: Thanks for your offer. I was getting similar offers over the web & was hoping for something slightly cheaper. I'm not saying that your costs are unfair but is there anything that can be done to reduce them?
Can you confirm how I should pay you, should I go ahead & also confirm your procedures. Can you let me know the address of your warehouse pls so that I can check the costs.
Many thanks

Response: hi, the process is pretty cut and dry. once the item leaves the US, you should have it at your door step in 14days or less. when it arrives in the u.k. after clearing, you will be notified of the shipment. at that point you will schedule a delivery date for your item. as far as payment i take paypal, mc, visa, amex, money order, cash. whichever one that works with you is okay with me. i could pick up you item at no charge come this week. i have another pick up in baltimore and i could swing by pick this items and forward it to our warehouse. our ware house is located in NY 11581. thanks (7/26/2008)

Response: Sorry - but can you let me have your full address pls. The zip code that you gave seems to be a housing estate.
Do you have any terms & conditions & can you supply details of insurance.
Is there any comeback if the item goes missing.
Many thanks (7/26/2008)

Response: it will be wed or thur this week, let me know which date works for te seller. thanks (7/26/2008)

Question: the zip i gave is for our warehouse. there are about 30 other companies in that center that does somekind of logistic. your item will be insured for the value you put on the item. i put an estimated value of $500 on the car wing for booking. if it goes missing you will have a claim for $500. however, i dont think that will happen. i'm unable to give out my company details due to uship policies. i've been flagged once for doing that. rest assured your item is safe with us. (7/26/2008)

Response: OK I am happy to go ahead.
If you can do the whole job including paying VAT & duty & provide insurance at $800.
Not sure where we go from here. Do you need to make a bid?
I want to stick within the rules of the website.
The seller is expecting pick up Wednesday or Thursday & has given me his phone numbers to pass on to you.
Thanks (7/27/2008)

Question: hi, if you put a $800 value on this car part then the bid will go up by $15. the frieght insurance is .05% of the value. my by was for $500 estimated value. if everything is okay with you i will place my bid at $290. once you accept, we exchange information and i could contact the seller to arrange pickup from him. thanks (7/27/2008)

Response: No. Let's leave at the figure you said, $275. Insurance will be $500. Do you know who pays uShip? (7/27/2008)

Response: [content removed - To avoid confusion on the part of the customer, TSP’s may no longer mention “uShip fees”, "uShip commission", or similar language in their Q&A – this will now be a flaggable offense as bids must be all inclusive. -uShip] the remainder will be due to me. i will place my bid at $275, thanks (7/27/2008)
