Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hello Brent -- Do you still need this done? If so, when is the earliest it could be picked up? If you don't mind me asking, why the long delay in getting it? Thanks for your help. --Jim (11/8/2006)
Response: Yes, I still need the car shipped. The situation is that I contracted with Country-wide Auto Transport 30 days ago to deliver the car to Colorado on a 3-5 day pickup and 10-15 day delivery schedule and the car is still not picked up. They have agreed to refund my money. The car is available to be picked up immediately. Let me know what you can do. Just tell me the truth about your scheduling. Thanks Brent. (11/8/2006)
Question: Hello, I own a driveaway service, if car can be driven to destination, can do asap, no deposit needed. Check my feedback (11/8/2006)
Question: Hi Brent -- Sorry about your problems with the auto shipping industry. Unfortunately, these type of problems are much more common than most people realize....simply because they don't use the industry that often or even know anyone who does. However, if you do a little internet searching and digging, you will begin to realize that the industry is rampant with problems; mostly scheduling, which is what happened to you, but also damage to vehicles, which, luckily, did not happen to you. Also, there are money issues, with carriers demanding more money than was contracted for, before off-loading the vehicle (call the police)and other unscrupulous behavior.....I hope you actually do get your money back. Consumer Affairs says the best way to ship your car is to drive it yourself; second best is to have a trusted friend drive it (probably because it will cost less than what I consider third best). Have a semi-professional personal driver to it for you. Cost is usually a little (con't) (11/8/2006)
Question: more than with a multi-car carrier, simply because of the economies of scale; it costs less per car to move six cars across country at once, than to move just one. However, moving multiple cars for multiple owners from multiple locations to multiple locations can easily become a logistic nightmare, and bingo, scheduling problems. A personal driver is solely dedicated to you. As for personal drivers, I would look for ones with good references or feedback, and I would be hesitant about hiring anyone who looks like they're going to have to drive more than 750 miles in a day in order to meet their schedule (unless of course, there are multiple driveers.. It's possible to drive 3,000 plus miles in 3 days, but it's far from smart, in my opinion. Okay, enough of the lecture. Is the car ready to go...legally...current insurance and registration with owner's permission to drive it from Boston, MA to Wray, CO? Are you buying this from a dealer or a private party? Judging from just (cont'd) (11/8/2006)
Question: (cont'd) the year of the car, I'm assuming the mechanical condition is fine......people don't normally pile up miles on high-end cars. My situation is that I'm in south Florida right now and am planning on heading back to the West coast, either on Saturday or Monday. Instead, I could fly up to Boston on one of those days (Sunday is too expensive to fly...and unless we decide very soon, Saturday will also be out of the question...later in the week would also be possible, but I'm assuming you want the car ASAP). I would then drive it to Wray, make it to Denver somehow, and then fly on out to Los Angeles. My charges are fairly simple, I have to cover the cost of getting to the pick up point, include the cost of fuel, the cost of getting from the delivery point back to Los Angeles (I live close, so the cost of getting home from there is not very significant), the uShip fee that is charged to me as a percentage of the total bid, and my daily driver fee that covers my lodging, (con't) (11/8/2006)
Question: labor, meals, and incidentals. The drive should take no more than three days, weather permitting. As you can imagine, this is going to add up. I'm usually not the cheapest, but if you view a couple of my previous matches, you should see I'm not out of line. I think I charge a fair price for great service. Unfortunately, I'm not close to either end of your shipment, which has a tendency to raise the cost. However, I will be able to split some of that cost with my current customer, who would normally pay for my flight back to Los Angeles. I'll begin to explore the costs, so I can give you a bid, if I hear back from you that you'd like me to place one. If you're still interested after all this, please ask any questions, make any suggestions, or provide me with any more information that you think might be useful. I'm apologize for this being so long winded, but candor usually requires more than a sentence or two. Thanks for your time and consideration. --Jim (11/8/2006)
Response: Sure, I would like a bid. I just want a straight up amount and time frame - the timing is not that critical, I just want a range that I can expect. Please let me know what amount you will need to deliver the car and I'll consider. Thanks Brent (11/8/2006)
Question: Hi Brent -- Thanks for your prompt response. Do you know anyway I can get out of Gray to Denver on any kind of public transportation. I'm checking rental car companies now, as a last resort. Thanks for any help you can give. --Jim (11/8/2006)
Response: Depending on your quote, I could take you to the airport. (11/8/2006)
Question: Hi Brent -- Thanks for the offer...that's like a six hour round trip for you, isn't it? It must be really difficult to get out of Gray without a car. I'm working on a bid, also looking at trying to get a connecting shipment, in order to reduce the cost. I may not have a bid ready until morning. Thanks. --Jim (11/8/2006)
Question: Good Morning, Brent -- I actually had this bid ready last night but I think something happened with the uShip site as I couldn't get into it after midnight Eastern Time. Anyway, here's the deal. If I can pick up the car late Saturday or on Tuesday (Sunday and Monday's airfares are practically 3x more.....if time isn't that critical for you, Tuesday would actulally work better for me), then I can do this for about $750 if I can get a connecting shipment, and $900 if I can't. I won't know about the connecting shipment until Saturday or Sunday. Delivery would be three days later, weather permitting. If this sounds okay to you, let me know and I'll put the information in the formal bid form and submit it. Thanks again for your continued time and interest. (11/9/2006)
Response: Is this an all inclusive bid? How will you get to the Denver airport? Will I need to take you? I'm understanding that your bid covers all of your expenses and compensation. Is that correct? Thanks Brent (11/9/2006)
Question: Hi Brent - Yes, the numbers are all inclusive, but do require transportation to Denver, hopefully to the bus station, where I'll catch a bus to Colorado Springs for a connecting shipment. I know that's a huge imposition, and if I could find another way out of Gray, for a reasonable amount, I'd take it. I'm open to any suggestions you may have. That is the one big disadvantage to driving the car...when you get to the delivery point, you have to find some other means of transportation to leave. In major residential areas, it's usually no problem, but out in the boonies, well, you know. Please let me know if you want me to put in a formal bid. Thanks again. --Jim (11/9/2006)
Question: "Per uShip rules, bids must be all inclusive" - uShip Hello, Sorry, can't do it. I see you declined bids of 50 cents per mile, which is too cheap in my opinion. I'll deliver it for $600 if you pay for fuel. (11/12/2006)
Question: HI - My vote is for JIM ! :) (11/13/2006)
Question: Hey Brent, Could a Ride to McCook,NE(MCK) airport be provided if my bid is around 700? Thanks -FW (11/14/2006)
Response: Yes, depending on the date of delivery. Could you give me a little more idea of when you would expect to deliver? If you could respond to me with some dates and finish up the details here, I'll accept your offer and let's get this going. Thanks Brent. (11/15/2006)
Question: My bid of $750 is an all inclusive bid including the fuel for your car. I would need tags and insurance on your car. I can deliver Dec 1 or 2. My husband travels with me and we are non-smokers. Please check my feedback by clicking on my screen name. Thank you, Judy (letmedrive4you) (11/17/2006)
Response: I would like to accept your bid. Can you still work with me on this quote? I give up on the other quotes who offer to haul the car. None of them will commit to even a general time range. If you can still make this fit, I'm ready. Thanks Brent (11/20/2006)
Question: Yes, Brent, I would like to drive your Cadillac for you. If you accept my bid now, I will put you on my calendar for a pickup date of Nov 30. I will re-bid and it will be there if you decide to accept it. (11/20/2006)
Question: If you have not "accepted" my bid by the end of day on Wednesday, Nov 22 I will be cancelling my bid at that time as I need to get my schedule lined out for next week. (I have another offer that I may take at that time for the dates that I offered you.... but since you had asked me if I could still work with you... even though you had declined my bid... I wanted to let you that I will be cancelling the bid because I had told you that I would still work with you!). Thank you! (11/22/2006)
Question: are you sure you want such a high end car driven instead of being hauled you will be adding more miles not to mention the liability risk involved i know you might be getting impatient on a truck but here is somrthing that might work try having car shipped to denver and pickup from there if interested i can place a quote (11/22/2006)
Response: That would work for me. Please give a quote and an approximate time frame. (11/22/2006)
Question: it would be hard for me to commit to a time frame, because of dot and things that could possiblly happen on the road. i dont give my customers an exact date. but i do give then a 5-7 day window give are take for pick up, and 3-4 day delivery. (11/22/2006)
