Additional Information:
I need to ship 342 round black locust fence posts of different sizes from Hot Springs, NC to my farm near Sykesville, PA, a distance of about 540 miles. The posts are quite heavy and will have an estimated total weight of 14,000 pounds. They come in three sizes: 265 posts are 7 feet long, 4 inches thick; 52 posts are 8 feet long, 6 inches thick, and 30 posts are 10 feet long, 5 inches thick. The delivery date is flexible. The supplier may bundle the posts if that is necessary, so that a flat bed or gooseneck trailer of the right size might do, but a closed cargo area would allow the posts to be loaded without bunding or wrapping.
Questions for this shipment:
Question:
can they be done in multiple loads. Please advise... two loads at the most. (1/18/2006)
Response:
Yes. The supplier is starting to work up the posts now and expects to have them all by late February, early March. Sometime between now and then it should be possible to pick up the first half, if your truck can handle 6,000-7,000 pounds per load. I'd be happy to arrange two pickups with the supplier. (1/18/2006)
Question:
well that sounds awesome.. I may be able to do one load.. it would be more economical but I am sure we can work something out to suit everyone. Please stay in touch and let me know when you would like me to make a formal bid (1/18/2006)
Response:
You can make a bid at any time. I'm prepared to accept a bid from anyone who can do this on the late-February, early-March timetable. I talked to the supplier last night and he has begun working up the posts. He's fine with two shipments if that is what it takes. But it would be more economical to do it in one trip if you've got something that can handle that. (1/18/2006)
Question:
could this shipment be picked up on a sat. or sun? also will there be help loading/unloading? i have enclosed stock trailer could do in one trip thank you. Mike (1/22/2006)
Response:
Yes, I believe that would be alright with the supplier. I'll have to check with him to be sure, but he does this from his home, so it should be okay. He has told me he would bundle if necessary and help load. He has a mill to prepare the posts and I'm sure he has the equioment to load them. (1/22/2006)
Question:
Hey how are you doing.. Do we have a more precise timeframe yet. Let me know the status.. looking forward to working with you. Larry (1/31/2006)
Response:
He says that he'll have half the posts done in about 10 days (a week and a half), and all of them done two weeks after that (end of February). Does that work with you? (1/31/2006)
Question:
WE run 48 and 53' flats in that lane daily and could do it in 1 move for $900.00. (2/1/2006)
Response:
I did not see your question, but can tell you that the posts are going to be done about the end of February. If you'd like to bid, please do. With "flats" would you need the posts bundled? (2/1/2006)
Question:
Yes that will work for me... just let me know when it gets closer and I can work out a load down there. Thanks Larry (2/1/2006)
Response:
OK, I'm going to say yes to your bid so I can send you the contact information for the post supplier. (2/1/2006)
