Question: I will be coingto CA to pikc up 1100lbs machine going to Toronto. I could take yours alongif the sellers can have a nieghbor with forklift load it on my truck. Let me know. That is normally what can be worked out. (2/22/2008)

Response: Thankyou for your interest. I have emailed the seller and am awaiting a response. From the info on the item it appears they could load it but hopefully they can confirm. This is my first time getting involved with shipping something this large. Can you give me a ball park shipping figure? Are there border crossing issues I need to think about? This will help me determine how fervently I will bid. Thanks again. (2/22/2008)

Response: Canada will want to collect taxes on it whihc the broker will collect to make it runs smoothly. If you could come to the border with the bill of sale to pay the taxes, you will not need a broker. I will probably bid $900 for door to door service. It is was within the US it would be $700. I have the cocumentation neccessary to cross the border but there is also lots of waiting your turn there. (2/23/2008)

Response: No response yet from the seller. Do I need to hire a broker or is there brokers at the border who take care of business? How do brokers charge? A flat rate or percentage or whatever they feel like? Does the broker send me the bill or how does that work? How would you want to be paid? Mastercard, cheque, cash etc?
Thanks I realize more questions than just the actual mechanics of a tuck and a load but I do appreciate your knowledge of all involved.

Response: You do not want to be at the border looking for a broker!! Most broker do not take new clients and you have to give them power of attorney on a weekday, then wait 3 days for it to be efective. Yuo can look on the internet for Canadian brokers, you will deal directly with the broker as the buyer or come to the border and pay the tases there based on the bill of sale. My broker fees are reasonable but you should do comparition shopping. I have my own PARS labels that I have to use with each shipment to Canada. They started to enofrce all their rules last January. Pay Pal chargs a 4%fee, banks $12 regarless of the amount. A money order works too. (2/23/2008)

Response: Hi it is me again. I have purchased the machine and am now in need or a shipper and broker. I have emailed a couple of brokers and I will call them on Monday as well. By your email I understand that you are a broker or you have a broker that you deal with. I doubt that I will be able to make it to the border unless it is a Monday, Friday or Saturday.
Also: The seller will put the machine on a special crate for a fee and I have confirmed that they have a forklift to load it.
What was your estimated date of arrival in TO so I can make sure everything is ready and accounted for?
Thanks again:

Response: I am leaving WA for CA on Wednesday will load around Los Angeles with items for Toronto and Oregon. Then load in WA, MT & IL with items for NY. I wil lbe back in Toronto later so if you are not ready about Friday or Sat, I can bid next time. (2/23/2008)

Response: I just got an email from a broker and have emailed him back to see when and how to get things rolling there. From your description of timelines I should have everything in order by Friday. I was asked to advise the carrier,(you), to forward a PARS number CCD to 416-363-5771. I have not signed up with him yet but I have emailed him to let him know I want to continue completing the documentation and signing up.
I also received your bid to ship and will accept on the other bid email I received.
Thanks for everything. (2/24/2008)

Response: I have a pars number and labels ready for each shipment. I can not contact this broker or give you my number here. I could do it after you accept my bid. If he charges you less than mine and mine is confident that their work is good I have no problem working with him. Competition is good!! He may be my broker!! (2/24/2008)
